Fantastic news! So happy!
And just heard Matt Hancock say it can go to all adults too (after high priority groups done first, I hope they include teachers as well as healthcare social care staff).
That was a gamble that has paid off for him. He must be so pleased

FuzzyPuffling · 30/12/2020 08:14

Matt Hancock is smiling!! Regardless of politics, I am pleased for him too. Shitty job...and he stuck with it.

TheChineseChicken · 30/12/2020 08:24

Just went on another thread by mistake and it’s full of misery guts. One poster asking if they are going to publish the list of vaccine ingredients Hmm

Jrobhatch29 · 30/12/2020 08:27

Super news! Form an orderly queueSmile

Boredsillyathome · 30/12/2020 08:31

This is the most amazing great news made me feel quite tearful so much misery around at the moment, this news is so needed!!

feelingverylazytoday · 30/12/2020 08:32

Had to come on this thread to celebrate, lol.
Yesterday was such a shit day, today we have hope.

feelingverylazytoday · 30/12/2020 08:36

@FourTeaFallOut

66 million in UK - 18.9% of under 16 = 53m - 20% those who don't want it = 42.4m (Ish)
And we still have smaller amounts of the Pfizer as well. And a few other potentials down the pipeline. I guess the MHRA will be back to work soon.
whataballbag · 30/12/2020 08:36

Great news! I'm full of what I hope is a cold today so this has cheered me up a bit!

FuzzyPuffling · 30/12/2020 08:40

Chinese chicken I saw you on the other thread and thought "ah, there is the voice of reason. And the voice of someone who's been following the science"
I'm sticking round here..safer, happier and much more science!

How wonderful. This is huge news. Yet the most active threads are someone wondering about a rude email and another who thinks their sister is after their husband!!

Is this the weird world of Mumsnet?? What is wrong with people (or is it just me)....

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 30/12/2020 09:20

My mind is boggled by the number posters who have decided it is in fact bad news.

It’s doing my head in! I need to stop replying on threads that raise my heart rate
Bathroom12345 · 30/12/2020 09:22

I guess some people just live their lives in misery and cannot even take good news. It doesn’t matter what your politics are this is life changing.

Yeah that’s mumsnet for you! If it had been around when humans discovered fire there probably would have been a thread about how their cave neighbour copied their fire
Plibber · 30/12/2020 09:24

A lot of people seem to be hung up on "but it's only 62% effective! Why would I have the Oxford vaccine, and not the Pfizer vaccine!"

Well, for a start, you won't get a choice Hmm

And yes, it might be "only" 62% effective at stopping you from getting CV completely, but it seems to be 100% effective at stopping serious illness & hospitalisation.

Which really is all it needs to do, isn't it.

FourTeaFallOut · 30/12/2020 09:27

Yes, I give in. Some people are so balls deep in their persecution complex that they wouldn't know good news if it jabbed them in their arm.

Blerg · 30/12/2020 09:30

Hurray!! Thank goodness for the scientists!

Also thanks for everyone posting here, kept me sane during the wait.
