Papers like to deliver upbeat and then miserable news to keep you buying them.

TeaInTheGarden · 28/12/2020 23:32

Would the papers know for sure though? I don’t remember them knowing about Pfizer the night before but I might be wrong. I wasn’t obsessing quite so much about that one so could have missed it!

MarcelineMissouri · 28/12/2020 23:38

The Pfizer news was definitely not in the newspaper headlines the day before. I check them religiously and definitely woke up to see the news on my phone first thing in the morning.
I’m desperate to hear the news too but as long as we get the news by the end of the week I assume we’re good to go for roll out on Monday. Would definitely be nice to hear it before year end though!

I'm going for tomorrow (Thursday). I definitely heard " Thursday" several days ago ( wish I could remember who said it, but it was a scientist) and my fingers are crossed for that.
Final furlong, people. Keep the faith.

Where did "tomorrow" come from? Thursday Thursday Thursday!

Sorry I've been a lurker- there was definitely no head's up in the papers the day before the Pfizer, and the news broke at 7am so I'm anticipating the same time for the Oxford?

tootyfruitypickle · 29/12/2020 08:19

Doesn’t matter as long as they are getting the comms right this times so that everyone takes it. Working with a comms team myself I can tell you it can take days of faffery Grin

FuzzyPuffling · 29/12/2020 08:22

On another matter, I am getting snarky about the term "self isolation". Apart from "enforced isolation" which we don't have, what other sort is there? Just "isolation" will do. BBC News, I'm looking at you.

Gosh this is painful! Really thought it might be today....

YukoandHiro · 29/12/2020 08:29

Genuine question - why is everyone so excited to hear the Oxford news? Will it really speed up delivery that much?

TheChineseChicken · 29/12/2020 08:29

Aaaaaahhhhhhh come on!

I think it will just be a relief to know it’s secure
FuzzyPuffling · 29/12/2020 08:32

We've got lots of this on order (100m doses), it will be made in the UK and it is easier to store and transport. All this will make it faster to roll out.

Brunt0n · 29/12/2020 08:33

Another one here who really hoped to wake up to the news! Come on 🙏🏻

Brunt0n · 29/12/2020 08:34

We have a lot more of it (including a lot ready to go) and it’s a lot easier to transport and store... so yep, it’ll be a game changer
TheChineseChicken · 29/12/2020 08:38

I misunderstood the question - yes it’s a far superior option to the Pfizer vaccine!

That has always bugged me too! Of course isolation is lone activity!
YukoandHiro · 29/12/2020 10:01

Ok that's good to hear
