Ah yes, it says based on "likely rate of vaccination" - so I think you're right.

Well, either way it says February for me,which I'll take...though think the rate may be above a million a week,so here's to it 😉😁
TeaInTheGarden · 28/12/2020 10:25

I’d love to know the target rate of vaccinations per week. Although I assume it won’t be the same each week, as in it will start low and increase over time- like testing did.
If I change the rate to 3,000,000 a week apparently I will get in by the end of March.... which would be incredible.
Currently at 1,000,000 a week I’m looking at possibly September which seems like forever! (Although of course the target isn’t every single person being vaccinated, just ENOUGH to return to normal life)

tobee · 28/12/2020 11:28

It's best that the announcement is seen to be made independently and in its own good time to encourage more trust and get best uptake. This is what I'm telling myself now.

Dr John Campbell said today or tomorrow. But...

Looks like Belgium is seriously considering a single dose strategy and vaccinating more widely with the Pfizer with a second dose that can wait six months.

The school threads are so negative, I’m seeking refuge in here.
I feel so optimistic that we’ll be in a better position soon.

I don’t go anywhere near those! That way madness lies
Pomegranatespompom · 28/12/2020 13:17

@TheChineseChicken I should have avoided much earlier !

TeaInTheGarden · 28/12/2020 13:39

I hope we try the single dose approach here low risk people, sounds like a great idea if the booster can wait till more stocks arrive.

Why don't we do that here - I don't understand? It would help immensely

feelingverylazytoday · 28/12/2020 15:36

It's under consideration. You can't rush these things, everything has to examined carefully.

tobee · 28/12/2020 16:14

Isn't it because it's licensed as 2 doses here?

Rainingagaininseattle · 28/12/2020 16:39

Here's a good news site, www.justgivemepositivenews.com/
Gives me lots of hope

JemimaPyjamas · 28/12/2020 18:25

I'm back on this page as I suddenly feel a bit overwhelmed. It's my own fault for looking at the news. I feel like the end is in sight but it isn't quite close enough. Plus, I am a Type 1 diabetic and while I am generally healthy and well controlled, the 'escalating' situation does worry me.

Bathroom12345 · 28/12/2020 18:42

Jemima. Don’t look at some of the other threads. I do wonder how some people get through their day or maybe they just relish the doom and gloom.

I know people like this In real life who doom and gloom constantly- what a barrel of laughs they must be.

The vaccine is on its way. Don’t worry.

Avoid at all costs. I have just read "lock us down" a few posts in on one thread, so swiftly closed the thread ha! Much safer hereSmile
FuzzyPuffling · 28/12/2020 19:41

I got grumpy at some of the attitudes to older people so am seeking further refuge back here!

John Campbell has just said “tomorrow” again 😂
Fingers are still crossed...!

tobee · 28/12/2020 20:19

Ooh I've just finished watching today's John Campbell video. The bit at the end about the monoclonal antibody thing (as I believe it's technically called Xmas Grin) looked great!

chri55ie · 28/12/2020 20:28

Really hope it’s tomorrow...I guess today was a bank holiday so maybe makes more sense for tomorrow

TeaInTheGarden · 28/12/2020 20:56

Do we think it is likely to be a 7am announcement? Think the Pfizer one was about that time I’d I remember rightly...?

goldpendant · 28/12/2020 21:17

If I were Prof Sarah Gilbert I'd be on the fizz by now....

For anyone interested in the vaccine development the BBC Panorama episode is brilliant, they profile some of the scientists and document the development from Jan - now. It's amazing how far we've come so fast, and the wider implications this has for virology research.

chri55ie · 28/12/2020 21:34

I think they do 7am announcement before stock market opens as info would impact share price of AZ?

JemimaPyjamas · 28/12/2020 21:41

Thanks @Bathroom12345! You’re right, it was a momentary lapse!

Spiratedaway · 28/12/2020 23:09

Sorry are you saying Oxford vaccine approved tomorrow I seriously anxious
