800,000 is good. I don't think Scotland's is great - I think I heard NS say something like 56k this week. At this rate it'll be march before we've reached 10% of the population.

GoldenOmber · 24/12/2020 16:52

The 56,000 is up to Sunday, so it’ll be more now. Plus we won’t be staying at these rates forever, and even 56,000 is a big increase from the 18,000 last week.

But this vaccine will be slow to distribute. 🤞🏾🤞🏾🤞🏾🤞🏾🤞🏾 for the Oxford vaccine because things can really speed up once that gets going as it's so much easier to distribute.

It won’t be at this rate though. The way it works is that each week it is rolled out to more hubs so each week it is happening in more places so accelerating numbers are built in. The really big centres in football stadiums etc haven’t even started yet but once we get the Oxford vaccine the numbers can really build. It will be fine!

Bit behind. So we have more than 800,000 Pfizer vaccines now? Not on order, actually here and available to use?

DontWalkPastTheCastle · 24/12/2020 17:41

Thank you guys, you're all right of course.

Having a bit of an OH FUCKING HELL day so this is the best thread to be on.

FourTeaFallOut · 24/12/2020 18:49

That's 800,000 people who have been immunised with their first jab in the country. We were supposed to have a further 5 million doses of the Pfizer vaccine in the country by the end of the year - but I don't know more than that.

Maybe this year Christmas Day is actually going to be 28th December ?!?! Xmas Grin

chri55ie · 24/12/2020 20:11

It will be for me! Finding Christmas Eve a bit hard tbh (I’m in tier 4- explains everything!)

tobee · 24/12/2020 20:44

Christmas Eve always used to be my favourite time of year!

Just opened my safari on my phone where it seems to be permanently on "Oxford Vaccine news" pages lol

tobee · 24/12/2020 20:46

Yeah T4 here and shielding Dh so no real difference for us.

Anyway, if we get vaccinated in the next weeks, I'll be buying you lot a drink down the (heaving) pub next Christmas Eve for keeping me going these last months. 🥂

chri55ie · 24/12/2020 20:58

Now there’s a lovely thought! Merry Christmas x

Thank you for this thread. Does anyone know how many vaccines we will be able to do each week if/when the Oxford vaccine is approved? Thank you.
