That would be fantastic!!

OrangeBananaFish · 25/12/2020 12:55

End of Jan Shock

That would be amazing

FuzzyPuffling · 25/12/2020 12:57

That sounds almost too amazing to be true...although it is described as the "plan". Wouldn't it be fabulous if they could do that?

We're off for a tier 1 walk this afternoon, before tier 2 tomorrow. Makes not one jot of difference to us, still seeing no one and only going out for exercise.
It's fine...the light at the end of the tunnel is growing.

Merry Christmas, you positive, optimistic lot! We’re having a good one despite everything and I have drunk lots of champagne Xmas Grin

Can’t seem to read the hsj thread but that sounds incredible!!

Bradford Royal doctor reports his hospital hub will be doubling vaccinations now " In the hospital we have been getting our weekly delivery of one tray or "pizza box" of 195 Pfizer vaccine vials every week. The national guidance recommended five doses per vial, allowing us to vaccinate 975 people every week. However, this is precious stuff, and it is quite possible to squeeze a sixth dose from the vials, increasing our coverage to 1,170 people every week. From next week we will ramp up to two trays and 2,340 vaccines per week."

Hopefully will be doubling in other locations too.

Morning all. Just wanted to pass on some info that might be interesting for you all. Yesterday O received an email saying I was onto the next stage of my application to be a vaccinator. I have to do some online training and pre employment screening checks which I'm hoping to do today. It all seems to be moving fairly fast now so fingers crossed good news about the Oxford Vaccine is on the way x

Fantastic, well done!
goldpendant · 26/12/2020 08:51

@Layladylay234 that's so exciting - I completed my online video questions a few days ago - how long have you waited for a response?? I'm hoping to do mine as a 'secondment' from work, if I get selected!

Fizbosshoes · 26/12/2020 10:11

I think this is the same story as couple of others posted from the guardian.

But it sounds hopeful. I'm worried once we take down Christmas lights the first few months of winter are going to seem very bleak so it's good to read stuff like this as a chink of light.
So grateful to all the science and laboratory staff that research this stuff - it's amazing.

And this is my favourite thread.

theotherfossilsister · 26/12/2020 12:20

I love this thread today. What will folksbe doing to make January tolerable this year? I am thinking of long walks, watching sunrise, cooking comfort food.

MorrisZapp · 26/12/2020 12:45

Yes, Dr Mark Porter mentioned the squeezed out extra dose too. These people should have gone straight to my Aberdonian granny, she could get extra mileage from any seemingly empty vessel :)

We will prevail! Christmas is a pain in the arse and a diversion. Once normal service resumes the focus will be absolutely unstoppable.

FuzzyPuffling · 26/12/2020 13:20

Yesterday my daughter asked me what we would do when we'd had the vaccine.....oooohh - get my hair cut, go in a shop, have a new kitchen...it was lovely to think about possibilities.

They should have just asked a load of MNers, half of us claim to be able to get 11 meals out of one chicken Grin
goldpendant · 26/12/2020 13:40

@DontWalkPastTheCastle - I can feed my family of six for a year off turkey leftovers don't you know!

Also loving this thread and everyone's positivity! I'm excited for 2021!

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 26/12/2020 13:45

Squirt some extra saline in and give it a good shake. That wouldn’t damage the super sensitive vaccine at all would it? Grin

It's my birthday in January so I need to have some splendid "stay at home" plans for that. Last year the weather was (uncharacteristically) lovely and DH and I went for a coast walk. Fingers crossed for the same this year.

We're also trying to eat more healthily and lose a bit of weight. It was going well beore Christmas..got to get on it again now! I make lots of vegetable and red lentil soup.

I am trying to finish a novel so that will distract me. I am going to enjoy knitting something for myself (been making Christmas presents since the summer) and will be buying a new cookery book since I didn’t get one for Christmas. I am going to make sure I always have fresh flowers in the house- which will start off being random things from the florist, then forced hyacinths, then the Scilly Isles daffodils will appear, then my own daffodils, tulips etc through to summer. I love spring! I am also pondering making a bell tent, since I made my own awning in the autumn and it turns out a 1940 Singer is well capable of sewing canvas.
