What do you think will happen on December 2nd? back to the tiers or something else?

OP posts:
chunkyfunk · 16/11/2020 16:47

I'm hoping they will say everywhere back open have a lovely Christmas everyone😅 very much wishful thinking!
My daughters bubble was closed today so I'm feeling very down and fed up of this now Sad

@bringbackCabanas

Those that think we'll return to tiers, what numbers do you think will place areas into tier 3? I'm in London, and am trying to work out where we'd be placed, as we were tier 2 previously, with numbers nowhere near those of GM, Nottingham etc.
I'm in Liverpool we were over 680 when put into tier 3 measures early on were now at 284 the mayor of Liverpool is optimistic for us to be placed in tier 2 come 2nd Dec not sure how likely that is to happen

Tiers.

Hospitality to open in many places but with early closing and restrictions. Gov can’t afford them not to open in some way. If they all do table booking I don’t see the problem. Queuing outside weatherspoons etc should not be allowed!

Shops to open.

Places of worship to open with restrictions.

Theatres and cinemas to open as some are selling ticks are are screwed if not allowed. They are so safe and socially distanced surely it’s fine.

Crunched · 16/11/2020 16:58

Maybe extend until the 9th and then allow Uni students home.
After that I think HelloMissus has it, I think they’ll open all the shops. And also restaurants and pubs in tier 1 & 2 but with the restrictions that we can only go with people we already live with
No mixing in each other’s houses and potentially make hospitality close at 9pm.

Newgirls · 16/11/2020 16:59

Students are due back week following 2 Dec if they have a negative test.

ChasingRainbows19 · 16/11/2020 17:07

They need people to spend in Shops and hospitality etc , so back to tier system. If it gets much later and opens with a week before Xmas everywhere will be carnage.

NullcovoidNovember · 16/11/2020 17:10

With this lot, zilch unless figures go crazy...

Absolutely zilch.

Choirbells · 16/11/2020 17:34

Full lockdown

Dadnotamum72 · 16/11/2020 17:37

The woman on the daily briefing basically has just said tier 1 isn't working tier 2 is 50/50 and tier 3+ are/were working so I would take from that on december 3rd we will be at the equivelent of tier 3 minimum?

What will reopen if we go from ‘lockdown’ to Tier 3?

We were Tier 1 before!

Loveable1 · 16/11/2020 17:39

Boris will be a fool if he continues the lockdown after dec 2nd! We need everything to open to get some money in to the economy!

That would be great! And no silly social distancing measures, so bored of us all having to treat each other like lepers. We are social animals. I stopped bothering with it ages ago.
Quartz2208 · 16/11/2020 17:48

She said it looks like Tier 3/Tier 3 worked. Tier 2 in some areas and some areas not (wonder if population density has an effect here - if so some may go to Tier 2)

Tier 3 is mainly about not mixing households - shops/restaurants are open

Its hotel and overnight stays that arent allowed. I suspect we will all be Tier 3 for the final 2 weeks of term with opening up to tier 2 for hotel stays etc over the Christmas holidays (given schools are cloaed at this point) with maybe relaxing down to Tier 1 for the Christmas holiday dates of 24-26th (but still means the rule of 6)

3littlewords · 16/11/2020 18:14

what will re open if we go from lockdown to tier 3

All shops restaurants gyms beauty salons places of worship leisure centres can open. Pubs aren't allowed to open unless they can serve a substantial meal. Most places are open but the restrictions between mixing households are still very much similar to lockdown. Cant go to a hospitality setting with anyone outside your household. Can't mix inside or outside in a private garden with another households but can meet in public outside space like a park or beach adhering to the rule of 6.

Forgetmenot157 · 16/11/2020 18:28

Extended by a week, pubs resteraunts and shops open to full capacity and kids break up on the 9th... Lockdown in January while the elderly and vulnerable get vaccinated then slowly oo n things up with back to normal ish by april/may

3littlewords · 16/11/2020 18:37

@Forgetmenot157 if they are closing schools earlier they need to announce that sooner than later so parents can make arrangements for childcare

Fedup21 · 16/11/2020 18:48

I agree.

I doubt they will though!

Going on past experience, they’ll announce it on Wednesday night that the schools are shutting on Friday. Maybe even Thursday.

I can guarantee it’ll be a full week or two later than whatever Scotland, Wales and Ireland do, anyway!

Whattheactual20201 · 16/11/2020 19:45

I think they will pull an early Xmas holidays for schools.
Then re open shops
1 out 1 in sort of thing.

Carlislemumof4 · 16/11/2020 20:26

I just don't see how they can reopen retail fully at the beginning of December without causing a huge spike of cases right at Christmas time.

Up until lockdown retail has felt safe but Christmas crowds won't be. I think unfortunately they'll have to keep non essential retail closed and continue to push click and collect services along with online ordering.

Schools to stay open until the scheduled end of term but maybe an additional week off in January.

Frazzled2207 · 16/11/2020 20:39

I think Boris has been fairly clear that parliament will decide, not him.

I think it would be pretty disastrous economically for shops to not be able to open in the run up to Christmas. I think/hope sport might be allowed to start again but other than that not very optimistic at all.

Bubblemonkey · 16/11/2020 20:58

I just want my wedding to go ahead as planned. I can’t say I’m all too optimistic even though we’ve already planned for 15 people.

ChristmasinJune · 16/11/2020 21:41

Tier 4 ( which is basically the same as now) added and most people in tier 3 or 4. Uni students sent home the week after lockdown, secondaries will move to online learning until Jan the week of 7th Dec with primaries the closing the following week for a 3 instead of 2 week Christmas holiday. Then if we're all good girls and boys we might be allowed the rule of six in our houses on Christmas Day.

Tbh id be fuming if they closed school just so people could have a party over xmas.
SomelikeitHoth · 16/11/2020 22:15

Well said 3littlewords. The children have suffered enough in the last lockdown and continue to do so with no activities or socialisation
