What do you think will happen on December 2nd? back to the tiers or something else?

OP posts:
LabiaMinoraPissusFlapus · 16/11/2020 08:49

Back to tiers with shops open so we can spend spend spend. I am sure of it! The numbers put out will support that decision even if they have to be manipulated.

Fortyfifty · 16/11/2020 08:54

Eating pubs and restaurants yes.

starfish4 · 16/11/2020 09:01

Depends where we are with the R value and numbers. If they're okish, then most businesses open (pubs only allowing single households), but no social mixing in any tier in the hope some level of minimal mixing allowed open Xmas.

starfish4 · 16/11/2020 09:05

Forgot to say, queues of shoppers everywhere, I'd be surprised if any shop has taken on Xmas staff, so the regular staff are going to be under considerable pressure to get stock out, keep on top of new cleaning regime and helping/serving customers.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 16/11/2020 09:40

Hopefully back to tiers and being allowed to travel. I've got a UK weekend away booked on 4th December and I'm hoping we'll be able to go. If we can travel I'd go even if the pubs and shops are closed just for a change of scenery.

@hellymissy

I'm so scared for virus speech about it. I can't take any more of this shit
Oh god same, getting so scared they'll use some vaccine related excuse to extend it, they seem to be loving this power they have over us too much.
kittensarecute · 16/11/2020 10:31

@Boatingforthestars

I think theres a plan behind the scenes to keep us in lockdown until January, I'm not a conspiracy theorist in general but just looking at the big picture. If Boris announced at the beginning of November we would be in lockdown until after xmas, nobody would comply, so a 4 week lockdown with the promise of coming out in december. I believe he will initially extend it for a further 2 weeks, again to get people complying, we will then be middle of December, at which point he will give a heart felt speech about how numbers are still up and we must stay locked down over the festive period. After being in lockdown for 6 weeks it's easier to keep going as theres no big change, it's just carrying on.

Unfortunately we as a nation cannot be trusted, we all know people that are flouting the rules as it is, imagine if the pubs reopened for xmas parties... it would be complete chaos.

No...no no no Sad
TheGreatWave · 16/11/2020 11:12

Tiers.... and lots of tears.

It will be a lockdown just in disguise.

ritzbiscuits · 16/11/2020 12:06

I can't imagine they'll keep non essential shops closed any longer, big business will be in uproar (and these are obviously Conservative leaning). It's safer for people to at least be able to shop across all retail stores rather than cramming into supermarkets and discount stores.

I'd hope bars and pubs stay shut as people can't be relied on to social distance when drunk.

I hope there is some loosening on COVID safe businesses eg hairdressers, kids activities. 🤞

CrunchyCarrot · 16/11/2020 12:09

Beginning of first vaccine doses to be given to select groups. For the rest of us, continued restrictions, probably like Tier 2 or 3 depending on how much cases have fallen.

Fedup21 · 16/11/2020 12:12

I can’t see them opening up pubs and restaurants as that’ll just be a red light for Xmas piss ups. I don’t think we’ll be allowed in anyone’s house either. I reckon shops and hairdressers/nail bars will be allowed to open.

I can see schools closing on the 11th.

Maybe 2 households to mix for Xmas day.

They’ll have to come down tough on NYE house get togethers somehow though, or January will be awful.

Requinblanc · 16/11/2020 12:12

No lockdown after 2nd Dec unless the PM wants to be out of a job by January...a return to tiers.

People are not following this lockdown that well as it.

Extend it and you will simply see more people ignore the rules and meet their family/friends around Christmas anyway.

Dustballs · 16/11/2020 12:14

I think it's all fizzling out anyway - no evidence of any lockdown here - apart from certain shops shut, and pubs of course.

I feel so sorry for the 'non essential' businesses that have been shut, because from the look of everything else - this lockdown is a farce and will have little to no effect.

So on that basis I reckon Dec 2nd will be the end of this rubbish lockdown.

SomelikeitHoth · 16/11/2020 12:23

More tiers and more tears

HelloMissus · 16/11/2020 12:30

I think they’ll open all the shops.
And also restaurants and pubs in tier 1 & 2 but with the restrictions that we can only go with people we already live with.
No mixing in each other’s houses.

userxx · 16/11/2020 13:19

Poor bastards, it's an insult.

amicissimma · 16/11/2020 16:16

I think they should really look at opening places of worship for services, properly spaced and ventilated. I'm hearing rumours that people who think that praying together is important are meeting in homes, which must be worse than supervised public buildings.

And a lot of people who don't normally go get a lot out of going to church at Christmas.

Choirbells · 16/11/2020 16:25

I knew I was right to my in my opinion to close schools, confined cases are all over schools, they should open their eyes and close

HesterShaw1 · 16/11/2020 16:32

They've lost the majority of the population and they know it.

I don't think lockdown (not that it is one and it's a meaningless phrase anyway) will continue after the 2nd.

Eesha · 16/11/2020 16:36

I really don't see many people following it to the T. My partner is being extra cautious so as we don't live together, who knows when we will see each other! I can't see the official lockdown continuing as people will be up in arms about Xmas.

bringbackCabanas · 16/11/2020 16:40

Those that think we'll return to tiers, what numbers do you think will place areas into tier 3? I'm in London, and am trying to work out where we'd be placed, as we were tier 2 previously, with numbers nowhere near those of GM, Nottingham etc.

Quartz2208 · 16/11/2020 16:42

The implications of not opening up things are huge. Plus Wales/Scotland are open up at the moment to keep England shut would be a huge move to try and get through Parliament for the government to attempt

I cannot see anything other than a return to tiers getting through Parliament. The cabinet I think are well aware of the rebellion that is brewing is they even try

3littlewords · 16/11/2020 16:43

I think most places will re open for economic reasons given how much money we spend at Christmas then back in lockdown in January if it all goes tots up

3littlewords · 16/11/2020 16:43

*tits up

Quartz2208 · 16/11/2020 16:45

@3littlewords agree entirely I think we will be open for December and then locked down if needed in Jan/Feb
