Is the virus rising rapidly in anyone else’s area?

According to the Zoe app the rate is increasing in my area and not dropping or stabilising like other places in England.

Yes. My area had very few cases even during the first peak. But from around 2 weeks ago, they've suddenly shot up.

MoirasRoses · 09/11/2020 15:46

Shooting up where I am in West Yorkshire .. 🤷🏼‍♀️ Been climbing for ages.

Porcupineinwaiting · 09/11/2020 17:48

No, dropping rapidly in my area - S Yorkshire. But then it was very, very high until a couple of weeks ago.

Falling at the moment here but not getting too excited yet, it changes in a heartbeat

Where do you get these graphs from?

Crakeandoryx · 11/11/2020 06:28

We've gone up again but I'm assuming it's the result of lockdown preparation last week.

@theviewfromhalfwaydown

Where do you get these graphs from?
They are on the opening screen of the Zoe Covid app
skankingpiglet · 11/11/2020 06:37

Our local numbers are steadily creeping up, but from a very low base. The graph for both region and council have gentle inclines.
I think overall the numbers are falling due to them falling in the hardest hit areas? The numbers in the North have been so large that even a small %age drop there eclipses our small (both in %age and actual numbers) rise.

polkadotpixie · 11/11/2020 06:41

Dropping here. I'm closer to Leicester than Market Harborough really though and not sure what's happening there

SE and are cases have shot up as well in the last week (290 case increase). There’s an element of not being surprised (lockdown was brought in as they new cases were increasing); however, I do worry a lot of people who were mildly ill weren’t getting tested before lockdown and carrying on as normal. Now we are back in lockdown people are more likely to get tested, because they aren’t as bothered if they are positive and have to stay home.

Kez0777 · 11/11/2020 06:49

Wow, going down but a lot more cases that the rest of you have put 😳

Saying that Kirklees is massive!

BlueStarRose · 11/11/2020 06:54

@Kez0777 wow. Why do you think rates got so high in Kirklees and didn’t really come down despite you having local restrictions for so long?

Kez0777 · 11/11/2020 06:56

I'm not sure, I live in a small village where there don't seem to be many cases.
It's scary to see the numbers like that though especially like you say as we've been in local lockdown since the beginning of August!

Crakeandoryx · 11/11/2020 06:56

How do you get the graph for your area please

Bmidreams · 11/11/2020 06:57

Ours are up and down, but in the 4000s.

DoctorYang · 11/11/2020 06:59

Gone up 47% in my area in the last week.

mrsanflowerpot · 11/11/2020 06:59

I'm in the same area as you OP and we are now on a steeper upward trend (with higher numbers) than where I work in central London. I was being extra careful when travelling home and now being extra careful when travelling there. Having said that - trains and tubes are still as full as this time last week.

Crakeandoryx · 11/11/2020 07:01

I've worked it out. Re enter postcode details and the app automatically shows you graphs. We appear to be coming right down now. We were in the many thousands now into hundreds.

Egghead68 · 11/11/2020 07:03

Runningoutofnamestochange · 11/11/2020 07:06

Up 542 this week!

fairydustandpixies · 11/11/2020 07:15

Going up rapidly over the past two weeks here. I live in a tourist destination and it was ridiculously busy over half term.

booboo24 · 11/11/2020 07:23

I'm 6 mules outside the city and our uni's are still having hundreds of cases each week, hence the Tier 2 status just for the city right before loclockdown. I don't know what the city is looking like although according to covid messenger it isn't doing as badly now. (This is actually a good site to check alongside the Zoe app www.covidmessenger.com/coronavirusliveupdate/)

Nosuchthingastoomuchcheese · 11/11/2020 07:26

Down a lot by me. Over 500 cases less than last week. Am in south west.
