Anyone NOT know someone whose had it?

I've obviously heard stories of someone who knows someone whose tested positive but I don't know anyone personally whose had it and no cases so far in either the primary school or the secondary school my DC attend.

I'm fully expecting this to change any day now with the cases going up but just wondered how many others don't know of any cases close to them.

I'm in the SW in case anyone's interested.

I’m in Manchester and don’t know anyone

tortoiseshell1985 · 15/10/2020 17:07

Oh but I think I had it in February textbook symptoms but no test so who knows.

Smileyoriley · 15/10/2020 17:16

I’m in south and the only definite case I know is my brother in London who had it in March.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 15/10/2020 17:17

I know a few people that were poorly with all the Covid symptoms in March/April but weren't tested due to the only testing once in hospital rule.

2 kids in my DD's classes have officially tested Covid positive so we've had the Hokey Cokey of being in & out of school.
The kids had only been back at school 4 days, when the pupils in close contact with the pupil that tested positive had to self isolate again.

Sophiesdog2020 · 15/10/2020 17:19

Nope, I don’t know anyone either. Friends have mentioned people they know have had it, but no one we know.

bigbluebus · 15/10/2020 17:29

I'm in Shropshire and don't know anyone who's had it. Levels were quite low here in the 1st spike but are much higher this time. Most of my friends are being careful and I'm not in the wild partying age group.

ThatsNotMySheep · 15/10/2020 18:10

I'm in Glasgow (well technically South Lanarkshire but it's just as badly hit) and don't know anyone who has had it. One or two "friend of a friend" stories but that's all and we've got DC at school and nursery and I work in education so have been back in the office since July.

wherestheotherone · 15/10/2020 18:16

North East and I know over ten who have had it. Family, friends, colleagues and school contacts.

lorisparkle · 15/10/2020 18:33

I only know of people distantly who have had it (DH's friend from uni and family were very poorly right at the beginning, my cousin's daughter and husband have it at the moment, a student in ds1's year group has it currently) but I personally don't know anyone.

However we are a bit concerned as a teaching assistant in my class has symptoms and is waiting for test results so that could be interesting next week.

HoldMyLobster · 15/10/2020 18:35

None of my friends here in the US have had it that I know of.

In the UK, at least a dozen of my family and friends have had it. Two have also lost colleagues to it.

IdkickJilliansass · 15/10/2020 18:39

I don’t personally know anyone who has had it, Hertfordshire

Doje · 15/10/2020 18:45

I'm in West Yorkshire and until this week didn't know anyone who'd had it. Then this week my friend has tested positive, and staff member at the DC's after school club has had it, meaning a chunk of kids have to self isolate too. It suddenly got real!

twddarylstruelove · 15/10/2020 18:49

No one personally, my dh had a positive antibody test a few weeks ago- he hasn't been ill and neither have any of us- myself & 6 children. Northamptonshire

HelloMissus · 15/10/2020 18:50

I’ve children in university and have lots of mates with children in university.
I’m hearing lots of positive tests.
On the plus side, almost no illness to speak of.

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 15/10/2020 18:52

Not personally no.

WasntSupposedToBeLikeThis · 15/10/2020 18:56

North London - four people who have it currently (all the same family).
Work colleagues daughter currently has it and three other work colleagues who were very poorly around March time and had antibody test which confirmed they did actually have it.

DonaldTrumpsChopper · 15/10/2020 18:58

I'm in Hertfordshire and know lots of people (work, friends, family) who were ill from December onwards. I had, what bow looks like, Covid Toes in February.

Through work I know a couple of dozen who died of it, or died with it.

Don't actually know anyone personally (other than work) who's had a positive test though.

SciFiScream · 15/10/2020 18:58

Scotland I don't know anyone who has had it. Closest is friends of friends and even then suspected not confirmed.

Not close friends either. So friends of acquaintances really.

bathsh3ba · 15/10/2020 19:58

Elderly distant relative (90s) who died in care home in Yorkshire with COVID. I know of someone in my village who worked on a Covid ward and caught it. But no-one I know well. In SW.

Soulstirring · 15/10/2020 20:02

I know of two. One completely asymptomatic but tested for a routine hospital attendance. N Yorks

Cassimin · 15/10/2020 20:02

Liverpool, I don’t know anybody personally. However my early 20s children know lots, just in the last few weeks when the universities went back. None admitted to hospital though.

Buckwheat80 · 15/10/2020 20:02

I didn't know anyone until last week - then two relatives tested positive, unrelated cases. One is in her 60s and is recovering fine, relatively mild symptoms. The other was in his 80s and died earlier this week.

IHateCoronavirus · 15/10/2020 20:22

I know 15 (NW) including me. Only three of those are in the recent spike even though it is mean to be really high here at the moment. Three of the earlier ones resulted in the people dying, one of which was my aunt.

DazzlingDaisy · 15/10/2020 21:52

I know around 15 people who have had it.
Three ended up in ICU - a dad from DD's Primary School, a 55 year old man and a female neighbour in her 60s. Friends of ours were also both very ill and they had to call an ambulance twice for the man - he's healthy and in his late 40s - it was back in March when they were reluctant to take people to hospital.

Wowthisisreal · 15/10/2020 21:54

Someone I know got her positive results today Sad SE
