Are you still wearing rings?

I was out this weekend and noticed a lady wearing loads of massive rings, she was washing her hands at the time but there is no way should could effectively clean her hands with massive baubles on her fingers and it got me thinking how many people are still wearing rings? I took mine off in March and haven't worn them since as you can't clean your hands effectively wearing them. Why has this not been communicated to people?

You are joking, right?

Yes you can

PlentyOfPeas · 12/10/2020 10:46

🙄

IrmaFayLear · 12/10/2020 10:47

I think we should all be naked. And body hair is a bit problematic, too, no end of nasties can be caught up in that.

IncludeWomenInTheSequel · 12/10/2020 10:48

I took mine off in March too because of all the constant hand washing!

I wear them again now but only if I'm going out really. I've lost the habit I guess.

Plussizejumpsuit · 12/10/2020 10:48

No, not that I wore them much. I did wear stick on nails and haven't done that since march (irrelevant tip primark nails cut down with good quality glue are fab)

I think you really need to minimise surfaces on your hands.

Seriouslymole · 12/10/2020 10:49

Yes I am still wearing rings and have been since forever. I still seem to be alive and haven't contracted covid.

Gold 😂😂😂

Yep, I don't seem to have spontaneously combusted Hmm

Or maybe we should all be naked 24/7 and walk through decontamination showers every time we leave or enter a building.

HaggisBurger · 12/10/2020 10:50

I can’t take mine off due to being devastatingly beautiful - these are the only things that stop me being besieged by suitors daily 🤷‍♀️

Lazypuppy · 12/10/2020 10:50

😂😂
Of course i'm still wearing my rings.

Why did you ever wear rings if you thought you couldn't clean your hands properly? There is plenty of stuff nastier than COVID that you can get ill with everyday

NoParticularPattern · 12/10/2020 10:51

No I’ve completely removed all my jewellery and clothing. I have also removed all body hair and the top few layers of skin as there’s just no cleaning that is there? I’m going to pluck all my nostril and ear hairs this afternoon because who knows what they might be harbouring!

Don’t be absurd

kittykarate · 12/10/2020 10:51

I'm out the habit of wearing mine - I stopped wearing them back in March because the increase in handwashing .

Itsabeautifuldayheyhey · 12/10/2020 10:51

Todaytomorrow09 · 12/10/2020 10:52

I took mine off in March and now only occasionally wear them - I find I was constantly taking them off to dry my hands properly so not to get sores under the rings - I panicked I would leave them somewhere! But that’s just my choice as I would end up loosing them head in clouds at times!

RaisinGhost · 12/10/2020 10:52

Hasn't this been the case always? I personally don't wear rings for this reason, but if people werent bothered before I'm sure they still won't be. There were deadly germs around before covid (much worse ones actually).

seayork2020 · 12/10/2020 10:52

Which rings? Or is that rude?

kittykarate · 12/10/2020 10:53

Just to be clear, I can wash my hands whilst wearing them, but I can get a rash under them if my hands aren't completely dried. More handwashing = more chance for problems. Didn't want to risk leaving them on the side /dropping them down the plughole really while I dried everything.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 12/10/2020 10:54

I only wear mine out of the house, and have been WFH since March. I do if I am going what now counts as somewhere special - to meet a friend for lunch or coffee, to the hairdresser last week - otherwise I have just lost the habit. Initially I would catch sight of my hands and think they looked weird and naked, now I just notice that I have no tan lines.

MalbecIsMyOne · 12/10/2020 10:55

Nurse here, still wearing my rings. And a watch, shock horror.

Don’t wear engagement ring at work as it rips gloves, and I take my watch off, but even we are allowed to wear wedding bands.

Whatsthefuss · 12/10/2020 10:58

I’ll tell you what bugs me are the TV chefs who have rings, watches and bracelets on (okay maybe not all at once) and are handling raw meat especially chicken or any kind of food that they are messing about with and mixing with their hands. It’s soooooo gross and unhygienic. 🤮

Sorry to derail the thread......... Back to your OP, I have been wearing my rings but tend to take them off when I get home anyway which is normal for me.

ramblingsonthego · 12/10/2020 10:58

I have stopped wearing mine as my engagement ring was getting all clogged with all the hand gel. I didn't want to constantly have it cleaned and the stones getting damaged.

Lily193 · 12/10/2020 11:00

If wearing them, I remove to wash and dry my hands thoroughly/apply sanitiser then replace. I've always been bothered about dirty rings though. You can tell immediately who doesn't clean their rings regularly and is happy to let all kinds of filth build up. The thought of them handling food....urgh.

DioneTheDiabolist · 12/10/2020 11:00

I've stopped wearing mine because I developed contact dermatitis due to all the hand washing and antibacterial gel and have to apply cream often.
