Confused: is there are a Boris Johnson announcement today?

The Times says that Boris is holding a press conference with Witty and Valence. Can't remember when.

I saw a rumour but haven't seen anything official. The rumour said time was to be confirmed.

Anyone's guess so far what it's about. Have heard loads of different rumours, I'm guessing it'll be all over the news befire 5pm though.

Yesterday lunchtime Sky news were saying Thursday afternoon, wasn’t giving a time - not seen anything since though.

It will likely just be to reiterate what we all know and he needs to show that he does know the rules after his fuck up when he was asked about a rule (he made) and he didnt know the answer! Idiot!

Seems like timing and nature of announcement, I’d any, is as confusing as Boris himself is on what current regulations and restrictions are...

The Times are saying that it will be to announce a lockdown in a Merseyside and to say that a decision on London will be taken next week.

Have we had a press conference to announce any of the other lockdowns? I thought most had been announced over twitter. It seems odd to hold one to specifically talk about Merseyside and the plans for London.

@Ickabog no they haven’t. My area has been in local restrictions since July and Hancock announced that over bloody twitter at 10pm at night the day before Eid.

I think if it was anything major it would br all over the news. Im truly fed up of hearing news by "leaked" information.

If it is to announce the Merseyside restrictions, isn't it because its actually a proper lockdown? Shops, bars, restaurants to close. Only essential use of public transport. The first 2 week circuit breaker lockdown.

MPs are getting quite vocal about the need for debate and Parliamentary scrutiny for any new measures and there are lots of meetings about that happening in the back rooms. It may be that there had been plans for an announcement but that is itself now the subject of discussion.

They did do an announcement for the nort East. I thought that was odd, as you say there's no standard way.
