So pubs closing at 10 and no spectators at sports events. Seriously I stayed at home to watch that. I’m not saying I want more to be put in place and I’m under local restrictions in my area so can’t see friends and family, but the impression I got a the very least I was expecting BJ to say the rest of the country wouldn’t be allowed to meet with friends and family too. Like I said I don’t want that at all but I can’t believe all the hype of this speech just for that.

People saying that restaurants not being able to take bookings for 9pm will be terrible Confused who on earth books a restaurant for that late anyway??? I think the fact that it’s table service only is the part that’s more likely to have an impact...

Maybe a lot of the rich footballers could give a week's salary to some of the small football teams, that would help them.

@hopefulness

I just wished they would treat us like adults and tell us the long-term plan. I know it is all probably based on behaviour modelling and I 100% agree with previous posters that it they are "drip feeding" but I think if people knew what to expect we would all feel a little more relaxed and less on edge.

I just have no trust in the government. They back-track all the time and are pedantic with their wording to explain away the amount of U-turns they take. Back in March at the first conference they said they would not close schools, I think it was 8 days later schools closed. However because they were "technically" open still (for the small minority of students who had keyworker parents) in their books they didn't officially lie?

I hate to break it to you but there is no long term plan. Just a series of reactions with little thought to what might come next

Plenty of people book table for 9pm and restaurants will lose a significant chunk of income due to this rule.

Definitely in favour of the football player idea. No one needs several £100k per week

Most of the North of England already has rules which prohibit going into anyone else's home or garden or allowing anyone into yours so Sturgeon is hardly announcing anything amazing. That woman is a past master at trying to appear that she is doing something amazing when she is doing nothing more than trying to look better than Boris

It is probably a good idea to leave some restrictions for local lockdowns that need it, that are not closing businesses and schools. Eg the mixing at home one.
