Carrying on from the last Ocado thread that is about to fill up. Still haven’t been given a toblerone yet.

I've been sat reading the paper this morning before M'net.

Charles now has a bigger farm near Sandringham and it has got it's organic certification. Maybe he'll call the products "Duchy copies".

I seem to have slipped into a habit of buying fruit/veg/meat locally (easy to get a local supplier to deliver for free) and just saving up a list of store cupboard items for a fortnightly shop when I spot a cheap or free slot.

"In stock" items seem a bit better this week.

Noflora · 19/08/2020 15:34

I think Waitrose now run and produce the Duchy products giving royalties to The Prince's Charitable Fund. It is a huge operation, no way do the raw ingredients come from one UK farm.

shallwethree · 19/08/2020 15:50

@Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g - I was given the flash sale URL eventually - underwhelming to say the least! Perhaps all the good stuff had already gone.

And I think I have a result re the missing emails! Apparently email was 'automatically suspended' because their emails to me were bouncing back (they were being forwarded from my own domain to Outlook and it was Outlook that bounced them, although I still had the original copy). I'd had an inkling that might have been the reason and so changed my email address a while back but that didn't work. So @tootyfruitypickle I'd keep pushing them to investigate properly.

Princely Products? or eventually Kingly Comestibles?
LittleRen · 19/08/2020 16:16

So far I am very impressed with the M&S range - they have introduced many products equivalent to Waitrose. I was dubious as I love M&S but have never been able to do a weekly shop there, so I am pleased Smile

Well of course they don't - any more than all Riverford's produce comes from one little patch in Devon!

It does not at all. My cousin grows their watercress.
tootyfruitypickle · 19/08/2020 17:38

I tried riverford again to get on their list. But I can’t be doing with how many times I get subbed a cabbage ! Happy that Ocado has m&S so the veg should improve I hope.

Not a happy bunny this morning.
Firstly, when adding to my shop on Tuesday it seems to have added just one of the dozen items I needed. My fault, should have checked the order confirmation, but never had that happen before so am mightily confused, as are Ocado. Fortunately I've managed to get a delivery for tomorrow so the rest of my order is coming in the morning.

Secondly, and an ongoing thing. The bloody packing. I now give up buying eclairs because there hasn't yet passed a week where they haven't arrived flat. This week they piled a bottle of milk, a curry and a fish pie on top, breaking the curry to boot and covering everything in it.

They are quick to refund but thats not the point. I order food to eat, not to have to spend half an hour cleaning it off various other goods and surfaces. It's just not good enough and is a weekly thing.

/end rant.

Me too. I cant wait for the swapover

AdaColeman · 20/08/2020 13:45

I agree that often the packing is dire.

They should put those heavy cartons of milk in to separate bags.

Another good idea for them would be to have all the substitute items packed together in a different colour of bag. It's a waste of the driver's time to wait as you root through to find items you want to return, and you risk damaging other items as you search.

Me too. My big issue was price I didn’t want to be paying more for M&S when I find Waitrose Essentials pricey enough! Pleased to see prices are equal or in some cases cheaper!

There was no way I was leaving ocado the variety of product is excellent, so I’m pleased to see exact like for like from M&S.

To be honest it was easy for Ocado and M&S to get this right they have stacks of sales & product data so they knew exactly which Waitrose products they needed to replicate and at what price point.

Goslowlysideways · 20/08/2020 15:37

I’m still concerned about sell by dates. M&S stuff doesn’t seem to last long.

Quarantino · 20/08/2020 16:41

I stopped ordering bananas for ages because they always got squashed. It's always the big bottles of milk - i agree they should go in separate bags, it's not rocket science. Sometimes the bottles themselves are damaged and leak milk over everything so that's a second reason to separate them.

herecomesthsun · 20/08/2020 19:09

I only order green bananas now, they are very hard to squish. I likewise order boxes of 8 or 9 apples, they are hard to squish, and the packing is recyclable.

But I didnt really blame Ocado for the dented apples and bruised bananas, these are products that are quite hard to transport without a lot of packing (which we also don't want)

tootyfruitypickle · 20/08/2020 20:48

Had a flurry of excitement here today. I realised that a big day out I’m planning comes the day after my first shop with m&s good - all that lovely picnic fare!

tootyfruitypickle · 20/08/2020 20:49

Also had a shop with no missing items !

Fuss · 20/08/2020 22:55

Assume the ocado God's are trying to appease me after my rant.....I got star reviewer coupons earlier 😂

PowerslidePanda · 21/08/2020 08:17

I was never offered a Toblerone, but got given a choice of free cookies when checking out my order this morning! Shock

FlamingoAndJohn · 21/08/2020 09:37

What! No. I got offered some bread. I don’t want bread.

PerditaProvokesEnmity · 21/08/2020 09:48

Brilliant start to the morning. Angry

Experimenting with alternatives to Duchy Organic I bought the Daylesford un-homogenised milk in their strange chalk jugs. Mostly because I was intrigued about how they could possibly stand up. They do. And the milk doesn't drip much from the cut edge and doesn't gape open when not in use.

However. I'm so used to automatically shaking a normal carton as I take it out of the fridge. Unthinkingly did that this morning with the "jug" ...

Half a litre of milk all over the kitchen.

FlamingoAndJohn · 21/08/2020 09:53

That jug thing is odd.

Yellowbutterfly1 · 21/08/2020 10:03

I was a offered a free tube of shampoo, woo hoo !
Wonder if this is instead of the toblerone I was never offered.

herecomesthsun · 21/08/2020 10:13

They sent me an email yesterday saying I was one of their best customers.

But no toblerone Grin

FredAstaireAteMyHamSandwich · 21/08/2020 18:34

I had an email giving me more coupons to review stuff. Very grateful, but they used to ask us to review 4/5 products. Only 2 now. Hope this means they are recruiting more reviewers!
