It’s brilliant news. But sad for partners living with parents, as they still aren’t allowed to be together. And also sad if you are a family that want to be in a bubble with grandparents (as in your mum and dad).

AvoidingRealHumans · 10/06/2020 17:28

Best news ever! Wonder if it would be reasonable to drive 200miles to my mums 🤔

unicornparty · 10/06/2020 17:29

Both households must only have one adult living in it though.

Sunnydays123456 · 10/06/2020 17:30

Partners living with parents ? Why ?

Yeah go for the drive !

It's great for us as my mum lives over the road on her own. I'm just trying to convince her it means my kids can have a sleepover at hers haha.

drayco · 10/06/2020 17:31

Does this mean if we link up with my widowed single household mother I can also then leave my 7yo son with her?

EachandEveryone · 10/06/2020 17:32

I was wondering if I could get a train for 200 miles in two weeks? They are running and selling tickets

NervousInYorkshire · 10/06/2020 17:32

@unicornparty

Both households must only have one adult living in it though.
Single adult households in England can form one “support bubble” with one other household of any size ^ from the BBC
Splinkyplonk · 10/06/2020 17:32

I don’t think it’s clear from the pm speech who this applies to. Do both households have to be single parents. What about single parents who have no other single parents to bubble with.

unicornparty · 10/06/2020 17:33

That's not what they just said live on the daily update. They specifically said both households must only have one adult in each house. I just rewound it to check.

Splinkyplonk · 10/06/2020 17:33

Chris Whitty gave a different description to that given by the PM!

HarrietOh · 10/06/2020 17:34

No a single household can form a bubble with another household of any size. So happy with this news it’s been so difficult for people on their own.

Catsmother1 · 10/06/2020 17:34

@sunnydays123456
Our daughter lives with us, her partner lives with his family. They are both students so can’t afford to move out yet. So they still can’t be together 😕

Cherryghost · 10/06/2020 17:35

I'm waiting for the inevitable backlash towards single parents.

HarrietOh · 10/06/2020 17:35

It wouldn’t make sense to say both households must be single. As long as it’s for single people on their own combining with one other household, it’s no risk how many adults are in that household!

Buffthemagic · 10/06/2020 17:35

So now I have to choose between my partner and my parents who desperately want to see their grandchildren Sad

BuzzingtheBee · 10/06/2020 17:35

So, to clarify ... can a single person soend time with a household of any amount?

notheragain4 · 10/06/2020 17:36

@BuzzingtheBee yes, so long as it's just that household and you don't chop and change.

unicornparty · 10/06/2020 17:36

Chris Whitty just said both households must have single adults. I don't think Boris specified what type of household.

HarrietOh · 10/06/2020 17:37

@Catsmother1 that’s really sad. This is to help people with loneliness after 11 weeks of being on their own and whilst I’m not saying it’s not hard to be apart from her partner, at least they aren’t completely on their own at the moment.

QforCucumber · 10/06/2020 17:37

My DM lives alone, MIL lives alone. They both have already been on the phone over the moon about this. How the hell do we choose which one to support?!

BuzzingtheBee · 10/06/2020 17:38

Wforcucumber... they can visit each other?Wink

HarrietOh · 10/06/2020 17:38

@QforCucumber that’s tricky! Does either have another household they could bubble up with? E.g. other friend or family?
