@MillStone, thanks for sharing. I am so worried that xrays and blood tests are not revealing pulmonary embolisms. My GP's are adamant that a negative d dimer blood test means no PE - I think I'm being fobbed off.

Egghead68 · 22/06/2020 17:29

Found out (after an hour on the phone to my GP practice) that my urgent cardiac investigations referral of 13th May still has not been put through. Grr...

MillStone · 22/06/2020 17:54

@Lightsabre I need fact checking but I seem to recall both my Dr and the consultant said D Dimer tests only work within a certain window. Again please fact check that Smile

@Egghead68 that’s terrible, I’m sorry you’ve been waiting so long Angry

Whatnext2018 · 22/06/2020 18:11

@Egghead68 Sorry you’re waiting so long 🙄
Yes I’ve varied between having loss of appetite, being ravenous and a normal appetite-really weird.

@MillStone What do you mean about the D-dimer test sorry? My gp didn’t explain that to me. I had one a week ago and was clear, do you need to keep repeating?

Whatnext2018 · 22/06/2020 18:32

Also, anyone know what’s with the brighter/more pronounced veins? My whole life, nurses have had trouble finding a vein when they take blood etc. For a while now, they’ve been so bright on my arms and the top of my hands and my feet.

MillStone · 22/06/2020 18:35

@Whatnext2018

Hey, Sorry I don’t know if you have to repeat.

About 5 weeks ago my dr said that it was too late in the day for a d dimer to show Problems — or at least be accurate and not worth doing. I think they he said they’re done early on to look for issues.

Again... I might have got the wrong end of the stick, so on that basis please only take my comment as hear say.

Whatapickle78 · 22/06/2020 19:02

@Egghead68
so sorry about your test. That’s so frustrating. Can you complain or ask to switch GPs? A month is a long time got a referral to get lost!
@Whatnext2018
yes to both lost appetite and to prominent veins. I’ve also always struggled with blood tests but now my veins are practically leaping out! My appetite left 2-3 weeks ago when this ‘relapse’ started. I’ve lost 5k 😬

Week 14 and still very fatigued, with sore chest and today, sore windpipe when I breathe. Not my throat but the airways it feels like a cold, burning sensation. Odd. I’ve spent most of today lying in the sun in the garden though which has been really nice.

More blood tests taken today to rule out other causes of ongoing symptoms...

I think (very tentatively) I feel a bit more mentally myself today however. This afternoon the brain fog lifted. Hope it stays away tomorrow!

Sorry to read about all these embolisms. It must be scary to be told that’s what it is, but also a relief it’s been identified. Seems like there are no hard and fast rules about how to test for embolisms either, just to add to the confusion even more...

I’d really like a CT scan of my lungs to check nothing else is happening which could be causing this tightness/pain.

Whatnext2018 · 22/06/2020 19:12

@whatapickle78 Do your veins ever sort of hurt/feel tight/burny? Did your doctor say anything about them?

@MillStone

Gosh, how weird..and scary..how do we know if we have clots in the body then? I was relying on repeatedly testing myself for my own peace of mind

Whatapickle78 · 22/06/2020 19:26

@Whatnext2018
No I don’t think the veins feel different. I do have sore/stiff backs of hands, wrists and forearms though. No idea if this is muscular, nerve or joint pain though....

Kitcat122 · 22/06/2020 19:38

@Whatnext2018 At 8 weeks I started feeling much better. More energy, almost no chest pain or sob. Started walking my usual running route which is very hilly. After 10 days bam all my symptoms back. Chest burning, sob when doing nothing, achey and tired and loss of appetite. Just getting back to feeling better now. Still have some chest pain and sob when walking or going up stairs. Tiredness has gone. Week 14 since first symptoms 😩

Egghead68 · 22/06/2020 20:03

@Whatapickle78 I have complained but they just say “um um”in a patronising way which drives me nuts. If I’d known there would be this delay I would have just gone private.

Crayfishforyou · 22/06/2020 20:26

Week 13/15 anniversary today!
For the last few days I have felt a whole lot better!
I’m up to 1000 steps a day.
For hours at a time the head buzzing and dizziness have vanished.
I can concentrate.
I am wearing a bra!!! OK, it’s not wired, but it’s a start.
I’ve been able to step down my beta blocker dose the last few days a little, from 60mg to 20!
Even if I relapse, I haven’t felt this good since March. I can get here again.

LetsBeSensible · 22/06/2020 21:33

Great news @Crayfishforyou
@Egghead68 we need our own “appointment” support thread!!!!
It’s day 100 for me tomorrow

Whatnext2018 · 22/06/2020 21:38

@Kitcat122 😩 How awful to feel better for 10 days then it all comes back, so sorry.

Trying to identify any patterns with my symptoms..definitely seems to be a roundabout of the head type things (that’s the worst) the aches/joint stiffness/weakness, then the nerves, back to chest tightness, dodgy tum, loss of appetite..all peppered along the way by the changes in heartbeat, body tremors and a large dose of anxiety..great 👌

I seem to have had all these but the chest tightness and stomach issues were right near the start and have come back, I’m hoping it’s not a round of all the itherscagsin or you’re talking months more..it’s messed up.

Whatnext2018 · 22/06/2020 21:38

*Of all the others again

Whatnext2018 · 22/06/2020 21:39

@Crayfishforyou 👏Hoping it continues for you!
Is that week 13 or 15? I’m thick 🙈

Crayfishforyou · 22/06/2020 21:44

@Whatnext2018
It’s been 15 weeks since I thought I had a cold,13 weeks since I realised it was way worse...

Egghead68 · 22/06/2020 21:49

Great news @crayfishforyou!!!

Whatnext2018 · 22/06/2020 22:41

Sorry all, having a bit of a paranoid moment and I don’t want to go downstairs to dp as I seem to be always worrying him at present,
I felt tightness in my right forearm the last few hours and now am feeling it in my left forearm..with it being the left, it’s freaking me out. Has anyone had this or know what it is? I’m hoping is another muscular thing? It’s really in both forearms at the moment.

Whatapickle78 · 22/06/2020 22:53

Fantastic to hear that @Crayfishforyou!

@Whatnext2018 you’re describing all of my recent experiences with relapse! We do seem to be on a similar path with this. Fingers crossed it does go somewhere and not just round and bloody round!

Ive also struggled with anxiety symptoms throughout this, but I’m very able to distinguish those from Covid. Or at least realise they are a normal response to very real symptoms of an illness... but yes it certainly makes it all worse.

I think I do believe that this disease attacks the autonomic nervous system, so ‘fight or flight’ responses fire up much more frequently, and I’ve been hugely sensitive to loud noise (or any noise!) as a result for example.

Whatapickle78 · 22/06/2020 22:56

@Whatnext2018 just seen your last message. I have this tightness too. I actually notice it more when I’m using my phone and as my hands and wrists cramp in this position, I’ve put it down to worsened nerve compression (overusing my phone!)

Does it release when you stretch and move around?

isitorisntit · 22/06/2020 23:37

@findingschools4myboys. Yes, I lost money approx 20th March. I've prob 20% of it back, mainly sweet smells. Not smelt poo or farts for months. Apparently a neighbour smokes weed all day; I can't smell a thing. It's gets worse again and I often smell smoke even when no one else can.

Whatnext2018 · 22/06/2020 23:47

@Whatapickle78 Not really, but it’s on and off and now some of the tingling and heat I’m used to 🤷‍♀️

Which week are you on? It does seem like some people follow others ‘Group of symptoms’ and with a very similar pattern.

I’ve also got massive thirst the last two days, huge thirst.

isitorisntit · 23/06/2020 04:05
  • I lost mine (smell)
Kitcat122 · 23/06/2020 07:05

@Findschools4myboys I lost my smell it's only just come back. It came and went for ages. Now back after about 13 weeks.
