With non essential shops now planning to open on 15th June, where do you plan on visiting first?

For me, it's John Lewis! I'm 26 weeks pregnant and starting to purchase bits for baby.

I’m not interested in shopping as financially we are struggling due to CV. I would much prefer be able to see my family. But I’m just a misery lol. That aside, I think the shopping experience is going to be very different from the past and I’m interested to see if/how it changes people’s feelings about it

vroc81 · 27/05/2020 07:31

@Upherefordancing that’s where both me and the 84 year old neighbour have on our list for a visit.. though I think she’ll replace your fish sandwich with a McDonald’s cheese burger Hmm Grin

IncrediblySadToo · 27/05/2020 07:32

I already hated most (but especially clothes) shopping with a passion - I only go under duress.

The only shop I might consider, but not until people have calmed down, is Ikea. I know I can order online, but I used to enjoy looking around the rooms they created.

IamChipmunk · 27/05/2020 07:43

None. Im happy to shop online.
Cba queuing just to browse and would also rather minimise any germ spread.
Will probably do clarks at some point for dc shoes as they need measuring.

TheClitterati · 27/05/2020 07:54

I'm not missing the shops- never went to them very often.

But I can't wait for the car boot sales to start up again. I'll be going to the first of those.

bigbluebus · 27/05/2020 08:07

Probably Dunelm because i need some new kitchen items. I know they have been open all along but I've kept away. I'm hoping that once other shops are open, those who have been unable to keep away from shops over the last 2 months will be bored with Dunelm and go elsewhere meaning it is quieter!

Barkingfuckingdogs · 27/05/2020 08:19

I went to dunelm yesterday and it was really quiet and no queues.

Stellaris22 · 27/05/2020 08:27

Smyths and Primark. But putting off for as long as possible and hoping the rush will have ended by July/August.

UnderTheBus · 27/05/2020 09:00

I'm not too bothered about shopping. All the places I like to shop are available online anyway so I havent missed it much. I like going to the shops for a mooch but I know that it will be all queues and awkward social distancing for now, so not much fun.

NiknicK · 27/05/2020 09:01

To be honest I’m not in any particular rush to go to any shops. I’m completely fed up of having to patiently queue just to get food and other essentials so can’t be bothered.

mamaduckbone · 27/05/2020 09:02

None. I don't really like shopping anyway and can't imagine anything worse than queuing for hours and following one way systems. It's one thing I haven't missed at all.

TakemetoGreeceplease · 27/05/2020 09:04

None, I will continue ordering online. Don't really see the point in going into clothes shops when changing rooms are closed anyway and let's face it the risks are still there, I'm not risking my health and that of my families for the sake of non essential shopping.

BecomingMe · 27/05/2020 09:04

I have no desire to wander round the clothes shops. I have shopped online for most things for years and am happy with that.

I do wish I could just pop down to Tesco and pick up something for tea like I used to. In and out in ten minutes. Although I think those days are gone.

spotlighton · 27/05/2020 09:14

Not in a hurry to go to the shops.
Do want to go to coffee shops/cafes.

Bumfuzzled · 27/05/2020 09:20

I know I’ll get lynched for being a party pooper and told this is a lighthearted thread, but seriously, is no one bothered about Covid-19 any more?

I’m far more desperate to see my over 70s parents and in-laws than to go shopping for non-essentials. If in a few weeks they (hopefully) decide we can see them, I’d prefer it if we hadn’t been having contact with the general public when we could easily have avoided it.

Costa, McDonalds and Primark just aren’t that important to me right now.

Wired4sound · 27/05/2020 09:33

Ikea!! I’ve been using the time at home to have the mother of all clear outs and I could do with some new storage boxes.

Ours is due to open June 1st but I won’t go for a couple of weeks and then I will go midweek when it’s quiet. I’m okay with the Covid risk but I bet the queues are going to be horrendous.

Clutterbugsmum · 27/05/2020 09:36

None.

Until I can see my family in ours houses and gardens then it's not safe to be going to shopping malls and shops. They will be as bad as beaches with less space and fresh air.

poppym12 · 27/05/2020 09:37

i'm not in a hurry to get to the shops that will be opening in June but i can't bloody wait to see a massage therapist to try to sort my neck and shoulder out.

also looking forward to a meal in a restaurant so i guess i've got a much longer wait than if i wanted to go shopping.

Clutterbugsmum · 27/05/2020 09:38

I will go midweek when it’s quiet. Why will be any quieter mid week when the majority of people are still not working.

Dontforgetyourbrolly · 27/05/2020 09:39

It sounds like it is going to be a totally joyless experience for a while , so sadly I wont even bother.
This is said with a heavy heart from me as I used to love shopping, walking round the shopping mall, meeting for a coffee there or taking ds for lunch

AuntieMarys · 27/05/2020 09:40

John Lewis. Want a new laptop and have £500 of vouchers. I buy clothes online so wont be shopping anywhere else.

Equimum · 27/05/2020 09:40

Independent kids shoe shop

3rdNamechange · 27/05/2020 09:42

@thenewaveragebear1983 won't they send you one by post ? 3 are quite good on their on line chat I find.

TimeWastingButFun · 27/05/2020 09:44

None. They'll be rammed and I'm quite used to shopping online now!

ladyvimes · 27/05/2020 09:44

Ikea! After being stuck in my house for so long I’ve noticed everything that needs changing and updating! Will stock up on meatballs too!
