With non essential shops now planning to open on 15th June, where do you plan on visiting first?

For me, it's John Lewis! I'm 26 weeks pregnant and starting to purchase bits for baby.

OP posts:

H&M
Primark
Tkmaxx
John Lewis
Oliver Bonas

I'll buy without trying on, and return if need be. I'm pretty good at knowing my size.

DS needs stuff.

Charity shops, I love a browse.

happyandsingle · 26/05/2020 21:43

As you can't even try stuff on none.Need a new bra but need to try them on if I'm not able to do that no point.
Plus they won't want you browsing as they need to get ppl in so it will be a case of get what you need and out which takes away the fun of the shopping experience.

EssentialHummus · 26/05/2020 21:47

McDonald's for breakfast. Can give or take everything else tbh.

MorrisZapp · 26/05/2020 21:50

Clothing shops don't and can't base their business model on 'hurry up and get out'. It'll be a one in, one out system just like supermarkets. I queue every week to get my shopping at Sainsbury's and I thoroughly enjoy it once I'm in! There's no time limit and because the shop is kept quiet, browsing within reason is a pleasure.

BillyAndTheSillies · 26/05/2020 21:53

DS1 is desperate to go to Smyth's Toys. He's counting down the days.

Apart from that, he needs sandals and trainers so Clarks.

I thought I'd be a lot more bothered about going to shops than I am. I've had a really good clear out and am managing to lose weight during lockdown so don't want to buy clothes just for the sake of going to the shops.

Unshriven · 26/05/2020 21:56

Primark and McDonalds

I had a tidy fit before lockdown and got rid of just about every summery thing I owned. Blush

Sparklingbrook · 26/05/2020 21:56

John Lewis. But will probably wait a bit. I want to go and look at all the lovely bedding and kitchen stuff.

JoysOfString · 26/05/2020 21:58

Yes to John Lewis! Loads of shops in one, and really big so the distancing might be slightly less of a nightmare than in some. Plus has a coffee shop. But like others I have had a lockdown shopping habit so it will be more of a browse.

Ulver · 26/05/2020 21:58

TK Maxx
I had a dream I was shopping there 👀.

Candles, oils etc

CountessFrog · 26/05/2020 21:58

And cushions and fabrics and clothes and stationary and garden furniture and.....

Georgiah · 26/05/2020 22:00

Oliver bonas 😍

howdidwegetheremary · 26/05/2020 22:00

None. I’ve managed exclusively online shopping and will continue until the madness calms down and we have a proper grip on infections.

Mnthrowaway20202 · 26/05/2020 22:03

Honestly? Nowhere, I'm not in a rush as most shops are still accessible online.

I miss being social & going to restaurants, bars, clubs, travelling etc the most! So buying clothes and makeup seems pointless if I don’t have anywhere to go

Having said that, I miss Selfridges the most. There’s lots of hidden gems at all price points in every department, I could probably spend an hour just browsing in there. They have plenty of exclusive brands that are otherwise only sold online.

Also miss buying random stuff I don’t need from IKEA!

bulletjournalbilly · 26/05/2020 22:05

None! All those ridiculous queues for social distancing and Perspex put up everywhere

Mnthrowaway20202 · 26/05/2020 22:05

My nearest M&S has reopened all their non-food departments. I haven’t attempted to buy clothes but it seems like business as usual with changing rooms open

Lostvoiced · 26/05/2020 22:07

None.
I can't drive and I have a baby I would have to take with me. No bloody thank you.

A hermits life for me until we have a better handle on things.

Noworrieshere · 26/05/2020 22:09

Waterstones. Or the local indy bookshop. But Waterstones has a cafe so it's got the advantage. I miss book browsing so much. But maybe you won't be allowed to touch all the books, then it would not be fun. I like holding them in my hands.

BrassicaBabe · 26/05/2020 22:18

New running trainers! Buy 99% of my stuff online but like to try trainers before I buy. Can't wait!

Rhianna1980 · 26/05/2020 22:29

None. We don’t need anything for now... plus I’m Enjoying saving my money and spending less!

Chickydoo · 26/05/2020 22:37

Opticians. I needed new pair of glasses before lockdown. Mine have snapped in half.
I don't expect trying on frames will be allowed. I have a complicated prescription that's pretty high and don't want to buy them online.
Hmmm I might be in for a wait.

4forkssake · 26/05/2020 23:14

I can't imagine the horror of places like Primark (I love primark so not a dig at the shop) & trying to socially distanced. I dread to think what Next will be like on sale day, where people queue from stupid o clock & the huge scrums that normally ensue. They'll still be there in December if they have to limit numbers into the shop.

Notmyrealname855 · 26/05/2020 23:16

Online shopping only for me, plus local independent shops (cos the ones here are ace). I seem to buy less crap if I shop online, not wanting to spend money with my job security at an all time low either (sorry, depressing!)

reeceormeese · 26/05/2020 23:24

Going to take DD to Primark in Manchester as soon as it happens. She’s not doing well at all since the lockdown and I hope some retail therapy will help...even if it is all cheap shite. Probably get myself some tat as well

Upherefordancing · 27/05/2020 00:03

Although I live in the centre of a big South coast city, I actually can't wait to go to the massive M&S in a retail park about two miles away.

I just want to eat a fish selection sandwich in the outdoor seating of their lovely cafe, then browse all their clothes for a good hour, before heading to the adjacent Tesco's superstore for a massive shop. I've been dreaming of this moment,...

darktriad · 27/05/2020 00:07

None, this has made me realise that I don't actually miss shopping, will probably head to Costa to meet a friend for coffee (if permitted)
