Where is Boris?!

Why is Boris no longer doing the daily press conference? I get that he doesn’t need to do it every day but it would be nice if he showed his face once a week!

OP posts:
SunflowerSeedsForever · 19/05/2020 19:53

combined with lack of sleep with newborn

I have never seen any suggestion that Boris has ever been a hands on Dad to any of his other children.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 19/05/2020 19:53

I think he's trying to avoid the inevitable moment when a journo asks him about the wisdom of the initial herd immunity strategy, given that the herd immunity amongst the cabinet nearly killed him, and if it's in fact the case that, as we can't continue lockdown forever and no sign of a vaccine for all yet, sending everyone back to school and work is herd immunity by stealth.

Smithy01 · 19/05/2020 19:53

Threads like this make it very clear why we struggle in this country to do anything well. At a time when we shoukd he standing together to get through this we’re hitting each other over things that don’t matter. So we haven’t seen Boris, we’ve still had updates and instead of Keir having a go why doesn’t he stand up and say I don’t agree with everything that’s going on but we should put that to the side for the benefit of the country. For now I will support you politics can go on the shelf till we sort out this pandemic. Now where do we get started.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 19/05/2020 19:55

I utterly detest Johnson, and everything he stands for, but the idea of Gove as PM is even worse.

Fedupofballs · 19/05/2020 19:56

Love this clip...

Outnumbered showing a German Exchange Student’s view back in 2011

jasjas1973 · 19/05/2020 19:56

He was in an ICU bed NOT receiving ICU treatment, he had bottled oxygen.
However, viral infections can take a while to recover from, so he should step aside until well enough to resume his duties IF this is the case, i suspect he is just avoiding scrutiny.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 19/05/2020 19:58

I do actually think that they all considered at the start of this crisis that a vaccine was a long way off and that they may as well get the virus over and done with, especially as they were obviously such fine, strong examples of genetic perfection, therefore no match for the virus. I think being so ill with the virus has shocked Boris to the core and knocked his confidence. Much like Scrooge was shown the error of his ways. Only problem is, I don't think Boris has any idea how to redeem himself and make amends. So could well be hiding away...

Come on, there needs to be some statement from his doctor or at least a fellow cabinet minister & about his wellbeing and whereabouts, and an explanation for his absence to the public.

Roussette · 19/05/2020 20:00

I wouldn't wish illness on anyone, even BoJo, and IF he is indeed poorly with the after effects, I would have far more respect for him if he just took 3 or 6 months out and appointed an acting PM.

As it is, he just comes across as lazy or hiding.

Smithy I am glad Keir has a go. Because it seems to me that this Government is reactive not ^proactive. When the pressure is on.... care homes/testing/isolation when coming in by plane etc, things happen. We cannot just sit back and trust the Govt to do it all right as can be seen by the appalling number of deaths. Too slow, not enough testing, herd immunity and that farcical scruff Cummings who appears to be running everything.

MockersxxxxxxxSocialDistancing · 19/05/2020 20:01

One more PMQs to stagger through tomorrow then it's two weeks off for Parliament.

Opendraw · 19/05/2020 20:03

Maybe he has been ‘encoiraged’ To take paternity leave :-)

OneJump · 19/05/2020 20:04

He's hiding, a coward, not up to the job. He's possibly having to spend time being coached for PMQs tomorrow as he has been so horribly exposed as the charlatan he is.

If he's too ill to do it, he should resign. It's a national crisis, a global crisis.

And does he seem the type to get up with a baby through the night or spend any amount of extended time with it seeing as he tried to deny the existence of at least one of his offspring, possibly more? What a guy!

Starksforthewin · 19/05/2020 20:05

Smithy I can’t decide if your post is naive, disingenuous or just plain ill informed.
Keir Starmer will “put the politics aside” when this government does.

Their whole response to the pandemic has been filtered through a political prism. You think the decisions they are making are for the good of the ordinary population??

The Conservative Party is controlled by the wealthy and entitled donors and the City institutions, all of whom will be telling the PM exactly what is required to retain their riches.

Keir Starmer should politics the fuck out of Johnson at every opportunity.

Mummyoflittledragon · 19/05/2020 20:06

Maybe he’s doing a Kim Jong Un, tirelessly working for the nation and will arise from the ashes to cut a ribbon to open another Nightingale Hospital somewhere. Then disappear once again never to be scrutinised.

Mummyoflittledragon · 19/05/2020 20:06

Forgot the pic

Where is Boris?!
The80sweregreat · 19/05/2020 20:06

I'm sure that Mr Cummings is behind all this hiding of our PM as stated below.
It's damage limitation isn't it? Keep rolling out the other Dominic and Matt Hancock to take the rap along with the scientist as a bit of back up for them and just hope we all forget about the ex journalist who is meant to be in charge of all this. He isn't too bad at the pre recorded things but on his own it's not great , so let others take the blame and stay aloof. Quite clever really if you don't see through it all.
I'm no Tory , but I bet Theresa May or Mrs Thatcher wouldn't have hidden away and took it on the chin. They would have been torn apart. Boris just seems to get away with things. True about Michael Gove too ; his playing the long game!
They are all a bunch of back stabbers and Dominic cummings knows it.
Politics is such a dirty business.

Peregrina · 19/05/2020 20:07

I don't expect he will ever be the old Boris again.
We can be grateful for small mercies then!

Zilla1 · 19/05/2020 20:08

Remuslupin, Gove, Raab, Patel... Was tempted to volunteer in St Thomas' ITU/give antibodies/pray for Boris' recovery (words I'd never thought I'd say).

Roussette · 19/05/2020 20:09

I do wonder what Carrie Symonds sees in him, just weird. She's an intelligent attractive woman, and he's.... well... let's not go there...

I am laughing to myself because she is similar age to one of my DDs and oh my god if she told me she was hooking up with someone like BoJo,, I'd be beside myself. Luckily I think she is far more astute

MintyChapstick · 19/05/2020 20:09

Oh Christ I will emmigrate if Michael Gove ever becomes PM! That's a nightmare I don't want to think about.

OneJump · 19/05/2020 20:09

If he can go jogging, walk in the park, walk upstairs and give speeches, all of which are well documented, then he's obviously not having the same difficulties that others who have had such a serious case of covid requiring ITU care are experiencing. He's a modern miracle! Just not one that can be arsed to do the job properly.

Hiding until he can really ruin the country with No Deal Brexit for his backers. Get stockpiling now!

Inkpaperstars · 19/05/2020 20:12

I don’t think a woman who had 6 (approx) kids, had affairs and talked garbled rubbish would be a PM. Covid or not.

So true.

DoctorHildegardLanstrom · 19/05/2020 20:14

@KindlyFOD @MintyChapstick has it, but the last thread on this was deleted as not being in the spirit. Which made me chuckle

MockersxxxxxxxSocialDistancing · 19/05/2020 20:14

Oh yes, "The Opposition are being political," is a Tory meme over a century old. As the Blue-Rinsers say on the doorstep, We're not political, we vote Conservative.

The useless lying fuck has got himself into this. He has the perfect Anthony Eden type cover story to retire owing to "ill-health," so if he stays then he gets what's coming his way.

Go for his entitled posh throat, ier.

justasking111 · 19/05/2020 20:16

I remember them saying when he came out of hospital he would be on semi sick leave for two months.

Zilla1 · 19/05/2020 20:16

Inkpaper, when you look at the bar set by Johnson, May, Cameron, do you really see a higher standard applied to May than the other two?
