Where is Boris?!

Why is Boris no longer doing the daily press conference? I get that he doesn’t need to do it every day but it would be nice if he showed his face once a week!

He should be doing at least once a week. When you have a Conservative MP stating that the way Boris is handling the situation is unconstitutional, you know it's bad.

B1rdbra1n · 19/05/2020 18:40

he's gone jogging jiggling:o

PickUpAPickUpAPenguin · 19/05/2020 18:41

The conferences been quite short recently so I agree that he should be in once a week.

Clavinova · 19/05/2020 18:41

I think Trump is on daily?

Probably better if he wasn't;

"US President Donald Trump has said he is taking hydroxychloroquine to ward off coronavirus, despite public health officials warning it may be unsafe."

I think Trump is on daily
he lacks the self awareness to realise he is digging his own grave

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 19/05/2020 18:46

his bumbling ways are very sweet
No, they really aren't.

PickUpAPickUpAPenguin · 19/05/2020 18:50

I realise that Trump's advice is not helpful and he's more focused on re-election than CV but him being there is probably reassuring to many (and I don't mean journalists who want something new to write about Grin)

Littleposh · 19/05/2020 18:52

Similar place to where headteachers are whilst the regular teachers are visibly in classrooms, I guess. Probably off somewhere doing the parts of his job that others can't

jasjas1973 · 19/05/2020 18:58

Johnson came back hoping the worst was over, the care homes crisis and schools shows its not.
He's not on top of his brief and cannot handle not being surrounded by a baying mob (Tory backbenchers)

A rabble rousing populist has, once again, come up short when it really mattered.

When the world needed strong leadership, we got Trump and Johnson :(

Roselilly36 · 19/05/2020 18:58

I agree he has been absent, perhaps he hasn’t recovered as well as he hoped, or Carrie is needing support. Who knows, anyone’s guess really.

Smartcasual · 19/05/2020 18:59

He's probably been advised by Dominic to remain aloof and "presidential" so others take the fall.

bellinisurge · 19/05/2020 19:02

He's probably been advised that every time he opens his mouth, he is one step closer to getting dumped by the 1922 Committee.

PigletJohn · 19/05/2020 19:03

If he isn't up to the job, we should get somebody else, who is.

Devlesko · 19/05/2020 19:10

He has a new baby
He's taking paternity leave later this year

The funniest comments I've ever heard. Grin
He's hopefully composing his resignation.

Tanith · 19/05/2020 19:12

Not to worry! He's due at Prime Minster's Questions tomorrow - we'll see him then, no doubt Smile

lilgreen · 19/05/2020 19:14

I thought the same op. I think it’s so his useless minions can claim to not know and evade questions.

YounghillKang · 19/05/2020 19:14

PigletJohn He never was though was he? He’s strictly a fair weather politician. He spent ages complaining he couldn’t live on 250,000 a year. I imagine he thought the PM role would result in lots of juicy, highly-paid board and consultancy roles after he stood down, and that he could blag his way through Brexit, having to deal with a rather harsher reality must have been quite a shock for the system.

And the comments on here about paternity leave and baby care are completely hilarious, as if people like Johnson stay up with their own children! That’s what nannies are for…But thanks for the unexpected laughs.

MilkTrayLimeBarrel · 19/05/2020 19:16

I am the staunchest Conservative you could ever meet, yet I find myself asking 'where is Boris'. He is not doing himself any favours at the moment. Maybe he is more ill than we thought?

Redolent · 19/05/2020 19:16

People think Johnson is up doing night feeds?

Roussette · 19/05/2020 19:16

BoJo is lazy. Others have said it I believe. Let's save it all up for PMQ tomorrow, bluster and soundbites won't work against Keir

lilgreen · 19/05/2020 19:19

He should take a leaf out of Sturgeon’s book. She’s a trooper!

shookbelves · 19/05/2020 19:21

If Boris were a female PM who had been in intensive care recently, was really tired and still recovering, and had a new baby, would we be saying they were incompetent and should stand down? No. Massive double standards on here as usual.

We can't stand up for womens' rights and equality in the workplace, and then refuse to allow the same for men.

lilgreen · 19/05/2020 19:22

Yes because SHE would have given birth . Duh!

bellinisurge · 19/05/2020 19:24

A female PM in that scenario would actually have given birth. If you don't realise the different effects of new parenthood on men and women, I'm not sure you ever will.
And given that he had to be forced by a court to acknowledge one of his children the " he's got a newborn " argument means Jack Shit,
