Princess It's a mess. He's always flitted in and out of her life with spurts of aggressive contact and a lot of 'we're a family, I love mummy' type bullshit, which is really confusing for her considering how many girlfriends he's had!! After I found out he was going to some big local lockdown parties I told him to stop randomly turning up at my house and use FaceTime to keep in touch. But any type of contact with him lately ends up with DD in tears because she's finally old enough to realise he's been full of shit all this time Sad

PrincessConsueIaBananaHammock · 10/05/2020 14:16

I'm feeling creative today.😂😂

Princess GrinGrinGrin**

PrincessConsueIaBananaHammock · 10/05/2020 14:19

Crow does she want to stay in contact?

How about you be the bad guy and say you took her phone away/ it's broken/whatever and give him an email address for her instead which she can choose when/if to read, you can screen if she agrees and might reduce the verbal diahorea instances since there a time delay on it.

OP posts:
CrowCat · 10/05/2020 14:31

Princess she's not that fussed. When he's being quiet regarding contact she's far happier, then I can see her stress levels rising when he starts messaging and calling again. I've had to encourage her to respond to his texts even though it's against my better judgement.

Oh believe me I'm always the bad guy in his book!! I had to block his number on my phone because of all the abuse I was getting. I've asked him loads of times to just email me but nah, he calls me unreasonable and says I'm refusing contact. I even made an email address for DD but she's just not interested in messaging him.

He's difficult at the best of times but it's like he's gone out of his way to make a shitty time even shittier.

PrincessConsueIaBananaHammock · 10/05/2020 14:40

I even made an email address for DD but she's just not interested in messaging him.

Go back to that, it's not your responsibility or her fault if the relationship dies. It's his behaviour and bullshit.

Block him on your phone and hers , if he emails fine, if he doesn't then he can't be that bothered .

I am fairly biased though, as I'm not a contact at all costs person.

OP posts:
CrowCat · 10/05/2020 14:53

Princess I'm not a contact at all costs person either, my 2 older DC never had contact with their dad because he couldn't be arsed and I wasn't going to chase him up. *
*
It was slightly different with DD2 because initially her dad was quite good with contact and she was only 3 so any gaps didn't phase her. But in the last 2/3 years it's been clear just how flakey he is and DD has come to not rely on seeing him much. Then he comes on strong with the communication and she feels bad for not being particularly interested.

I think you're right regarding emails. I have tried to work with him I really have, always against my better judgment but still. I think DD is at an age where if she's not interested then I'm happy to follow her lead.

CrowCat · 10/05/2020 14:56

One of his best lines will always be:

'Crow it's your fault if I don't have a proper relationship with DD because you don't encourage me to see her.'

Never realised it was my responsibility??

PrincessConsueIaBananaHammock · 10/05/2020 15:06

I know you have, it's obvious from your posts that you actually want her to have a relationship with her dad, and you facilitated that. The issue is that it's not a good relationship , and that he's unable/unwilling to take responsibility and put any of the work

oh hello lovely bananians

missed the ending of the last thread...will have to find it and have a read.
I might have drunk slightly too much wine last night, so might be a tiny bit fragile today.....
so basically wont be managing any killing and will in fact be being a perfect lockdiwn citizen venturing only between my bed, the sofa and the kitchen!

Love The Ecepetional Frother princess so funny!
crow hex to your ex

Willow2017 · 10/05/2020 15:14

Crow what a pratt. Hopefully Dd will see with your support that she doesnt have to keep up contact with him as he lies and lets her down. She isnt responsible for his hot and cold turns and doesnt need to pander to his whims. These men are idiots who will lose thier kids in the long term and wonder why.

Excellent scientific paper there Princess you should have it published for posterity😄

Willow2017 · 10/05/2020 15:17

I am out of wine😲😲😲
Cba to get changed out of painting clothes and go get any will have to have amaretto tonight😄 oh well we all have to make sacrifices in these trying times🤣🤣

CrowCat · 10/05/2020 15:18

Princess yeah it's a relationship that started crap, built up quite nicely when she was around 7/8, and has gradually gone downhill again because of his bullshit and inconsistencies. I've done my best with him, but I'm just done helping him and have been done for a while now. I think that's part of his problem lately, that suddenly contact is down to him and it's clear I've stopped facilitating and DD actually isn't too fussed. And he's no one to blame but himself. But he'll blame me anyway HmmHmmHmm

Oof it feels good to get it off my chest! Sorry for the thread hijack.

We've had the laziest day ever. Pjs and Netflix and many biscuits. Might round it off with a takeaway Grin

CrowCat · 10/05/2020 15:22

Thanks willow, she knows I'm in her corner and I'll back her up whatever. I see him trying to manipulate her like he did me during our marriage and I'm not having it.

A wine deficit!!! Nooooo!!!!

PrincessConsueIaBananaHammock · 10/05/2020 15:23

Willow online delivery?Grin

Crow don't be silly. Plus now you can blame me. Evil, bitchy banana said I have to stop being your crutch and doing your job for you. Then send him to my door. Cuntbadger!

CrowCat · 10/05/2020 15:30

Ah thanks princess Smile

I have a glut of wine but only because I ordered 6 bottles and found out it's absolutely foul and I can't stomach it. Tastes like aviation fuel. I'll give it as presents to people I don't like at Christmas hahaa Grin

Apparently Christmas won't look like Christmas this year? If 'they' think I'm not having my DC and GS over at Christmas they can think again.

PrincessConsueIaBananaHammock · 10/05/2020 15:32

What will it look like then? That sad looking plant that you refused to even look at for ages, much less take care of it but it refuses to die?

Someone posted this on another thread and I had to steal it Grin

Willow2017 · 10/05/2020 16:12

Did anyone see the piss take of the clap on the anti-dementors thread? Very funny.

Willow2017 · 10/05/2020 16:21

Yeah right!
Come Xmas there will be posts everywhere of peoples normal squillion decorations plus the ones the kids have made "because we are trying so hard in our self imposed lockdown". Plus the full roast dinner with half a ton of booze and treats they got delivered because "someone else can do it for us as we arent setting foot in a germ ridden supermarket till they are all burned down and sparkly new ones are built just for us"!

CrowCat · 10/05/2020 16:27

Spot on willow and there I'll be dragging my poor DD to plague ridden supermarkets to buy all the trimmings because I'm not a frother just an awful parent who allows their child to .... MINGLE!!! Smile

Also has anyone seen Boris' pre-announcement tweet? Seems the nanny state is finally letting us take some responsibility for ourselves!!

Willow2017 · 10/05/2020 16:34

Crow
Sighs! You have it all wrong. The gov are stepping back and leaving us to it! Thread on it weeping and wailing that we dont kniw what 'alert' means and we need someone to hold our hand through this. Fucks sake bloody adults! Get a dictionary and use the thing between your ears!

PrincessConsueIaBananaHammock · 10/05/2020 16:37

Alert is what normal people have been doing all along aka breaking the made up guidelines.

Going about your life with precautions and social distancing, not acting like you're on house arrest.

OP posts:
CrowCat · 10/05/2020 16:42

Yep I'm on that thread haha. Is it so hard for some to just use some common sense and a bit of risk assessment?? Do they need spoon feeding?? Jesus H Christ if it was up to some we'd be locked up indefinitely. I swear it's those who haven't set foot out of their homes!! Every time I take DD out we're alert ffs, because common sense.
