Oh sorry no, Swiss ones are, French not yet as the website says. But don't go in the first week after opening, was like pre-Christmas madness.

Watchagotcha · 16/05/2020 07:11

Looks like the UK govt has pulled back on the French exemptions from the 14- day quarantine to be imposed in June... only key / essential Workers will be exempt.

Another nail in the coffin of our summer plans!!

LesLavandes · 16/05/2020 07:25

Where did you read this?

Lots of UK papers have similar articles if you can’t access this one

Yes I saw it too, www.bbc.com/news/amp/business-52682411
Very annoying, I have tickets for July..
At least some Schengen borders should be open soon.

MadameF · 16/05/2020 11:29

Our Ikea (Rennes) opens 25th May

NoraLuka · 16/05/2020 18:20

I went to the beach today (Morbihan). It was fairly quiet compared to a normal sunny Saturday afternoon, everyone walking / in the water, only a couple of groups sitting down. The gendarmes were driving around, and there was quite a bit of traffic. It seems normal now to wear masks in shops but it’s going to be uncomfortable if there is any kind of heatwave like last year !

freedomdreams · 16/05/2020 19:33

I am sorry if this has already been covered - but are parks nearby you opening? Anyone near Rennes or Flers who would know when Thibault or chateau parks will open?! thank you Smile

freedomdreams · 16/05/2020 19:35

IKEA open?! OMgoodness!

freedomdreams · 16/05/2020 19:38

@noraluke the beaches near you were open as usual?

Sorry about all these questions, I can't find anything out from t'net

freedomdreams · 16/05/2020 19:40

@MadameF I just saw you are in Rennes - do you know if Thibault park is open yet, or when? Is the town centre busy, ok to walk around? Thank you. We live 40 mins away in the countryside and would go to Rennes for a bit of civilisation once in a while.

NoraLuka · 16/05/2020 21:15

@freedomdreams the beaches aren’t open as usual, you’re not supposed to stay sitting down or have a picnic, you’re only allowed to go for a walk or sailing or do some kind of sport. Here is an article saying which ones are open for now : www.letelegramme.fr/dossiers/a-quand-la-reouverture-des-plages/des-plages-ouvertes-dans-15-communes-du-morbihan-15-05-2020-12552495.php

freedomdreams · 16/05/2020 21:26

Thank you nora very much though the northern beaches are closer to us, I am still googling and finding nowt! We will drive up there, probably.
I hope I am not the only one who is getting confused about what is opening where!

Our school has been great though, well organised with work since the beginning, and returning information now.

newtb · 16/05/2020 22:41

In Intermarché today, Corrèze north of Brive, they had a notice up saying they'd refuse entry without masks.

But, the 2 women serving in the boulangerie were no longer wearing them. Everyone else, apart from 2 men in their 60s, was.

Frenchfancy · 17/05/2020 07:16

Drove to Nantes and back yesterday to pick up some of DD2 s stuff. Autoroutes were very quiet. No checks anywhere. The distance as the crow flies was 99km and it is different department.

freedomdreams · 17/05/2020 08:13

Does anyone know if the parks are open in the big towns/cities? Thank you

KatharinaRosalie · 17/05/2020 08:38

freedom they should be in green departments. Not over here in 68 as we're red.

Anybody else's DC going to school tomorrow for the first time after confinement? I've lost count. DS can't wait.

SparklingSaskia · 17/05/2020 09:14

We went for a countryside drive yesterday. I had forgotten what the colour green looks like. ( Bordeaux is pretty, but also pretty treeless).
Most of the chateaux were open for wine testing and buying, surprisingly. Back in town, it was busy, nearly as much as in normal times. Had it not been for the closed cafes and bars, it would have looked like nothing ever happened. Highlight of the day was the woman who asked us to take a photo of her and her bike. With her filthy phone! We (probably not so) politely declined.

freedomdreams · 17/05/2020 09:38

Thank you katherina they weren't in our local green town on Thursday when I last looked, but hopefully by today they will be, we will venture out with fingers crossed. Our school went back for a few children in each class last week and the head reported all good. We will be going back start of June, part time, is the plan!

Watchagotcha · 17/05/2020 12:11

Parks are open in our big, green city - but all the play areas are still closed / taped off.

Having seen the heaving crowds in our local parc though, I’ve no desire to join them. Maybe we need to get rid of the weekday / weekend split, just stagger everything over 7 days instead.

SheWranglesRugRats · 17/05/2020 13:45

All the parks here are closed but the riverside towpath is open. It’s not too busy in the morning / lunchtime and we just had a lovely picnic. A hidden gem in the région parisienne :-)

@freedomdreams sorry for late reply, we have had our internet cut off and no phone signal in the house! Yes, the parc Thabor is open in Rennes. I'm not in Rennes and haven't been into town yet as am teleworking for the moment. I live 40kms NE of Rennes so maybe not so far from you?
DS back to school tomorrow.

LongPauseNoReply · 18/05/2020 16:58

I tried to cross the border yesterday but we got turned back despite a huge influx of CH registered cars. The French Douane are not checking entry to Pays de Gex but the Suisse Douane were stopping everyone including CH cars with boots full of shopping Sad

It's really frustrating and it feels like we've been forgotten about. Genève is basically our city, where our amenities and services are but we're not allowed in. It's actually harder for me to cope with things like this than full lock down Sad

ChateauMargaux · 18/05/2020 17:59

@LongPauseNoReply I am sorry to hear you were stopped. I totally understand how you feel.

I was behind a CH registered car with bikes on the back who was waved through the other day and we bumped into Swiss Residents on their bikes here on Mont Mourex. I really wanted to ask them where they had crossed.

Meanwhile there was a 45 minute wait at the Douane coming across at Divonne today at 4pm. We also have friends with Cartes de Legitimation who are crossing freely.

The next few long weekends are going to be challenging!!

KatharinaRosalie · 18/05/2020 18:07

That's so annoying Long, especially when you see all the Swiss crossing the other way.
It is really frustrating, DH and I can cross but we can't take the DC to visit their friends just a few miles away..I really don't understand why they can't stop the checks now.
