Our maire was hospitalized with Covid 3 weeks ago, not sure how he’s coping with the workload.

Makiwa · 05/05/2020 12:08

It would appear that Macron is in our town this morning. He isn't visiting our primary but no doubt you will see our mayor who is very proactive and likes to find solutions rather than problems.

We had a RPE meeting with the directrice yesterday and she has quite a good plan in place for the 90 out of 381 children returning. Only 5 of the 24 in my DD2's class will be there on the 25th so they'll be ok in the 50m squared class. They have a sink in each class (thank goodness for a recently built school). A municipal employee will spend the day cleaning, play time will be split into different areas and start and stop of school will be at ten minute intervals.

Obviously these measures will work much better with only 90 children than when everyone else returns full time.

Frenchfancy · 05/05/2020 12:09

Action is a bit like Woolworths of old. Selling everything from craft supplies Tupperware and cleaning products. It's useful but not exciting imo.

Noz on the otherhand sells bankrupt stock, end of lines, over production etc. You never know what you are going to find. (Though they often have good socks) We have had great clothes from there over the years, they have random dvds, often good stationary. But thebest bit is the food and drink section. The wine can be excellent, and the foreign stuff is marked way down, especially if the label is not in french (think chilian merlot with a Chinese label) Most wine we get from Noz is under 2€ a bottle and it is normally very good. They often have british food stuffs with tesco or asda labels.
@heylittlehenwhenwhenwhen you have to give it a try. Not all Noz are great, I've been to 3 or 4, but our local one is my favourite shop.

BurneyFanny · 05/05/2020 12:15

Yes I was just thinking about trends in school architecture. We have a new build maternelle and a 1920s école élémentaire, both nice and spacious. Those 1960s rabbit hutches, not so much.

missclimpson · 05/05/2020 12:24

We are watching Macron's visit and interview and trying to imagine Boris doing something similar (not).

AuldAlliance · 05/05/2020 12:27

Ours is C19, built around a chapel dating from 1719...
It has 3 entrances, but very few loos and they, and the basins for handwashing, are mostly in the playgrounds.

AuldAlliance · 05/05/2020 12:41

I'd rather not imagine BJ at all, far less attempting to perch on a school desk...

missclimpson · 05/05/2020 12:48

😂
Indeed not. Let only talk for half an hour with a grasp of detail at the same time.

BurneyFanny · 05/05/2020 12:54

He'd be too scared of running into one of his kids Wink

missclimpson · 05/05/2020 12:59

😂
It is indeed a strange world where Boris gets a higher rating from his electorate.

heylittlehenwhenwhenwhen · 05/05/2020 13:03

Adds Noz to list of shops to visit.

Not all Actions are equal either, we are lucky to have a great one about 40 mins away. The one in the other direction is a bit meh, but we do go past a Noz to get there, and it is amost next to Grand Frais Grin

heylittlehenwhenwhenwhen · 05/05/2020 13:03

almost even.

KatharinaRosalie · 05/05/2020 13:04

Did anybody hear what he actually said? Some papers are reporting that he had said the 100Km 'semble pour l'heure intangible', but I have no idea what he means by this.

missclimpson · 05/05/2020 13:17

He talked a lot about pragmatism. I don't remember the intangible bit. This is from en direct.
"Il faut beaucoup de pragmatisme, nous voulons éviter le brassage, qu'il y ait des milliers de citoyens qui viennent d'un endroit très infecté vers un endroit moins infecté. Il y aura des contraintes, des contrôles, il faudra une forme de bon sens collectif" indique Emmanuel Macron concernant la règle des 100 km.

Watchagotcha · 05/05/2020 13:19

@missclimpson

That looks like he’s talking about red people going to green zones, and that not being sensible?

BurneyFanny · 05/05/2020 13:23

we have a primeur that bulk buys all the nearly out of date stock from supermarkets and catering firms. It's amazing. I once got 50 quail eggs for 1 euro 50.

missclimpson · 05/05/2020 13:23

Yes I think so. He was very cagey about holidays too. I think that they genuinely have to wait and see what happens. That ran through the whole interview.

BurneyFanny · 05/05/2020 13:24

I think that's fair enough TBH. They can't make any grand declarations now when things are still changing so fast on the ground.

missclimpson · 05/05/2020 13:31

Il faut éviter que les gens reprennent une vie normale", mais en même temps, dit-il, "mon souhait, c'est qu'on puisse au maximum aider chacun à avoir une vie familiale et donc avoir cette part d'espoir. Un peu de sourire et de soleil."

usuallydormant · 05/05/2020 13:38

We've just had a very detailed letter from our village school. 2 days a week per class eg CM2 will do 2 days and CM2 the other two. Very keen to stress that the kids will have to respect social distancing everywhere, one way systems, bring your own box of tissues and gorde, no playing together in yard and the older ones can wear a mask if they want. The last page is full of reasons of preparing your kids psychologically and the Marie has just sent out the booking form for the cantine so all systems go.... I think it has been a bit of a nightmare to organise though and it generally means one parent has still to stay at home as there is no childcare for the 3 days they are not in...

mamansnet · 05/05/2020 14:14

Had an online lesson this morning with DS's teacher, who now says it's not definite that they'll reopen on Monday! Waiting for confirmation on Thursday. DH has already told work he's going back in that day, so bloody hope I'm not home alone with DS for another God-knows how long. I suppose we won't be stuck inside the house though, so at least that's something.

On the plus side, only 5 kids out of 22 in DS's class have said they'll go back if they open next week. Mainly the really little ones, or those whose parents who are stuck for childcare. So DS will get a lot of 1:1 time. He needs it too, given the way he's been playing up during his online lessons these last few days.

CroissantsAtDawn · 05/05/2020 14:17

A colleague has just said that his school are prioritising certain children (based on parents' work or decrochage scolaire) - he had to fill in a form and for every question asking if such and such a situation applied to them he wrote "no" so doesn't think his son will be back at school before September...

It's the not knowing that is so hard. At least in March/April we knew we would be in lockdown for 6-8 weeks (i.e. end of Easter holidays). Now we just don't know. And no idea for all the upcoming holidays...

There's a thing doing the rounds on FB soi-disant from a capitaine de gendarmerie comme quoi thieves are going door to door distributing face masks sprayed with chloroform to knock people out and rob them. Riiight Hmm

Frenchfancy · 05/05/2020 16:47

Because obviously they sell chloroform in Leclerc!!

CroissantsAtDawn · 05/05/2020 16:52

Lol.
