Just seen on daily fail (sorry!) that Boris is going to announce that we will be lockdown until June at least.

Not sure if I can cope that long. 😩

Grimm both to be honest

We get sent into stores to do the jobs no one else wants to do

What do you mean exactly? Who do you work for if not the store? Whoever you work for your rights in law, your responsibilities and their responsibilities do not change. Stand up for yourself! And if they won't provide stuff, bring your own mask/gloves/sanitiser to use and make a complaint about them.

mirrormirroronthewalll · 30/04/2020 18:24

@Bluntness100 that's good news. I missed it tonight what did they say in relation to that?

OneandTwenty · 30/04/2020 18:32

what easing of restrictions do you need?

Shops are already opened, builders are working in groups - not respecting social distancing in the slightest - , we are allowed to go anywhere and do pretty much anything.

The uk has always said we are going for herd immunity and that's what we are doing. Seeing how many documented cases of people getting re-infected and proving that there's no such thing as immunity is another story, but we are happy to ignore that small detail.

Elizabella · 30/04/2020 18:37

When do you think hotels/holiday parks/holiday lets in this country will open up again?

Gwenhwyfar · 30/04/2020 18:41

"we are allowed to go anywhere and do pretty much anything."

No, we're not!
If you mean that some people break the law or don't follow the guidance that's something else.
I'm not allowed to go to work.
I'm not allowed to go out except to get food or medicine to to exercise once a day.
I'm not allowed to leave my local area.

findingschools4myboys · 30/04/2020 18:41

@OneandTwenty
I thought that reinfection was the least plausible explanation. They thought that more likely either tests were false negative/positive or possible reactivation.

I am also not sure they actually have proof as of yet that there is no immunity...it’s the fact they can’t prove whether people have immunity yet that is the problem, but then that is because everything is so new.

I am happy to be corrected though. Haven’t looked much up lately.

TeacupDrama · 30/04/2020 18:42

legally lots of businesses are allowed to be open provided staff can social distance personally I think we will see very modest lifting of restrictions next thursday maybe garden centres and small shops opening encouragement that trades can work in peoples houses socially distanced and outdoor work like gardening etc
I think that as France is talking about schools reopening on 11th may and we are about 2 weeks behind there will be a programme for partial reopening of schools from Monday 1st june probably primary first half class doing monday tuesday and other half thursday friday similar rules to Sweden and following on from the reopening in Austria Germany and Denmark as will have some evidence as to how it has gone.

I think working from home if possible will be here for much longer with possibly one day a week at office for de briefing and with kids getting back to school it will make the juggle of home scholling and WFH at same time easier. I don't see cafes restaurants pubs clubs open any time soon either but probably by mid late summer the restriction on social gatherings will be up to about 10 people

Bol87 · 30/04/2020 18:42

No we aren’t @oneandtwenty - we aren’t allowed to anywhere or do anything!

The vast majority of us haven’t seen our families & friends for weeks. Nor more than a tiny radius around our houses. I had to drive to the doctors today & it felt like a holiday! I’ve not driven in weeks either!

I’m not expecting a lot but I do hope we are allowed to see family soon. I can live without cafes, pubs, social spaces so long as I can hug my mum & let her hug her newest grandchild she’s yet to meet!

I wish people would stop saying we can do anything we want in this country just because we aren’t penned up in our houses like Spain or Italy. Most our freedom has been taken away. The vast majority are being respectful of the rules & pottering out for local, distanced walks with our kids only.

Are we?! News to me. In a normal week I’d be taking my children to school/swimming/gymnastics classes/dance classes. I’d be going to Pilates classes and to the gym. I’d see my mum twice and my dad and stepmum once. I’d go to a national trust place at the weekend with my family and have lunch in the cafe. I’d go out for dinner/drinks with DH. Go to a friends house one evening for a glass of wine/chat. Are you telling me I can still do all of those things?!

loobyloo1234 · 30/04/2020 18:46

we are allowed to go anywhere and do pretty much anything

Must not be in the UK - because this is a complete lie if you are

Girlinterruption2020 · 30/04/2020 18:49

@Drivingdownthe101

out of curiosity, do you work aswell? that sounds like a nice week

mirrormirroronthewalll · 30/04/2020 18:49

Just read the attached on itv news, right I'm confused one minute it says it says Boris will present us with a 'menu of options with the date and time' next week etc then on a paragraph below it says he cannot way when exactly the steps will be taken. Am I being thick or what?!

So we are staying lockdown until June at the earliest?
Bramblebear92 · 30/04/2020 18:50

*we are allowed to go anywhere and do pretty much anything

I haven't gone to work in nearly seven weeks. Haven't seen my boyfriend, friends or family in months. Have probably been outside for a total of three hours in six weeks. Haven't set foot in a shop that isn't a supermarket. No money to pay my bills for the first time ever. Hmmm sounds very normal.

Drivingdownthe101 · 30/04/2020 18:52

Girlinterruption2020 yes but freelance from home and only when the older DC are at school and the toddler is napping, or in the evenings when they’re all in bed.

vanillandhoney · 30/04/2020 18:52

It doesn't say they'll tell us the date and time next week. It says "with the date and time...being driven by where we are in the pandemic".

So, what it means is they're coming up with a plan as to what will happen to ease lockdown, but they can't tell us when each step will happen until they have more data on it.

mirrormirroronthewalll · 30/04/2020 18:54

@vanillandhoney thanks for that, my brain isn't working properly today! So we will won't know next week then. I was hoping we would have some clearer info next week

Girlinterruption2020 · 30/04/2020 18:57

@Drivingdownthe101

Thanks. sounds like a good, balanced week/work- life thing you have going on.

vanillandhoney · 30/04/2020 18:58

I think by next week we'll have an idea of what they want to do, but until we have more information, they won't be able to give us confirmed dates.

I think also because next weekend is May bank holiday, they would be really stupid to ease restrictions the day before - people would just take it as a green light to go out and do whatever.

TopBitchoftheWitches · 30/04/2020 19:00

It is simple really, I work for an outside company that's gets sent into stores.

We have mentioned duty of care etc and the company will not help, they are going by the government guidelines to the point and tell us to wash our hands.

Who do I make a complaint to?

maria860 · 30/04/2020 19:04

I'm not doing anything I want at all. Can't go and get anything from the shops for me baby that is due I can't take my sons for a haircut or see my family or go to the cinema or for a meal. I would love to know where you live ?

ravensoaponarope · 30/04/2020 19:36

Yes we have to cope.
I am doing that by cutting myself.
I live alone, to some of us this lockdown IS unbearable.

AlexisCarringtonColbyDexter · 30/04/2020 19:44

@ravensoaponarope
