New thread for those having longer symptoms of Covid.

OP posts:
Mintypylonsfryingsurplus · 02/05/2020 11:49

@Lightsabre I first went to doctor Feb 28th with temp, severe sob and dry cough. As I had not been abroad was discounted and not tested even though I had been in very close contact with skiers who had returned from Italy etc.
By March I had severe headaches totally blocked nose, fatigue aches. Went back to doctor again told it was viral.
Was quite prepared to go to doctor again but he refused to see me hence ending up in A& E.
After severe pneumonia 12 years ago I just wanted to be sure the original virus had not got worse and I needed antibiotics.
Glad I got checked fully over and anyone still suffering please do the same if you need reassurance, I was a long term smoker so I was worried about damage from that, as there are other reasons for illness too?
But the chest doc pretty certain the symptoms originally and the post viral effects fit the pattern of Covid as everything else now eliminated.
The drop in oxygen after exertion the most telling, as proves something still taking time. Who knows how long though? Will I be here in 5 months!! Before went gym etc 5 times a week.
Although after pneumonia before I did end up with post viral fatigue, then M.E for 6 years but I was really ill then, this was not severe but long?
Hope you all have a healthy weekend Flowers

@Starrynightsabove the doctor said they were consistently at ‘5’ which she said was at the low end of the abnormal range. Well below heart attack levels but above the expected level.

Dorual · 02/05/2020 11:56

I seem to be in the minority that haven't been checked over. I'm too scared to go incase I didn't have Covid, and I will catch it there and bring it home to my children and extremely vulnerable dh. I have a pulling sensation in my chest and hurts when I lift my left arm. And low grade temp. My cough came back a bit last night. I'd like to get better at some point. This is dragging :(

Dorual · 02/05/2020 12:06

@Crayfishforyou are your inner eyelids red when you pull them down to check for anaemia? I was anaemic before this started, but had raised ferritin on a private blood test, and now my inner eyelids are red as opposed to the white they used to be.

Crayfishforyou · 02/05/2020 12:11

@dorual they are pale with red streaks. They look better than they did a few weeks ago.

Tangledyarn · 02/05/2020 12:27

@dorual I've not been physically seen either, have had tel appts with my GP. I was offered an ambulance when at my worst but declined which I probably regret now, but I am getting better albeit very slowly so its neither here nor there really I'm sure.

Dorual · 02/05/2020 12:35

Phew, I'm not alone! I've got left chest pain when I cough now. And I'm feeling runny-nosed. What the heck?

Countingsheeps · 02/05/2020 12:48

Sorry so many are still feeling rubbish. It’s day 41 for me here and the cough is back, along with mild shortness of breath. I have still got racing heart rate when standing up too. I really hope that @Egghead68 your symptoms get better over time and it’s not lasting damage. I’m in two minds to go to A&E today just because I would like to be checked over properly now.

A new thing for me this week is blocked ears and a constant humming sound... I think it is also making me feel very dizzy.

Flowers to all who are still having crap days xx

UndertheCedartree · 02/05/2020 12:48

I was given codeine last night so I got a better nights sleep. I feel better this morning. Still on IV antibiotics and fluid and oxygen but sats are doing better. Wishing everyone strength and health 💐

Meercatmama · 02/05/2020 13:04

Retired back to bed as I am so tired now. Back really hurting some small temp spikes a little shortness of breath and a sore throat. it is not as bad as yesterday but feeling really down. Just hoping this is the last dip and then I will be on the mend.

Wingingit15 · 02/05/2020 13:08

@Countingsheeps me too. Just can’t decide whether risk of not getting checked out outweighs risk of exposure sitting waiting. I’d just want to know what’s the matter

Moodgie · 02/05/2020 13:15

It deffo keeps on giving. Sore throat gone I think but now all my airways kind of feel like raw. And no energy.

godhelpusall · 02/05/2020 13:16

I've been pretty much fine for two weeks apart from sweating at night. But suddenly the tight sinuses are back. What fresh hell is this?! That was my first symptom. Please don't let me be getting it again. I wonder if I'll ever relax about any symptoms ever again.

Moodgie · 02/05/2020 13:20

@godhelpusall My first thing was sore throat and when it reappeared last week that sent me stressing. Still worried as my breathing improved a lot but the last few days it hasn’t been what it was.

baroqueandblue · 02/05/2020 13:30

@Moodgie yes you're absolutely right, have to do what we can to keep a positive perspective. Thanks for the reminder, I was very low by yesterday and made a highly emotive post.

Today I'm a bit more accepting. Woke up in pain again, muscles in my back and ribs mostly but I have osteoarthritis in my left hip and that was very sore too on waking, but did some stretches in bed (I just get into stretchy positions and lie in them for 5 minutes and then swap sides) and they helped. Slow, light breakfast and then a short, slow walk in the sunshine. Beautiful day here, but when I stopped after about 10 or 15 minutes to stand against a tree and soak up some sunlight I could feel my heart rate had risen and I was aching a lot, particularly in my legs today which haven't as a rule been affected much before now. So I listened to my body and came home. Before I went out I'd looked at my kitchen floor and felt depressed by how badly it's in need of sweeping and washing. Had a big plan to clean the kitchen when I came back but I was kidding myself. I've mostly rested since about 11 and had some lunch and am now sitting up in bed. My legs still feel achey but my lungs aren't too burny today. Feel really tired though. Am hoping I might manage a bit of the kitchen after all, but veeeeery slowly and piecemeal with frequent rests. Don't expect to get through much of it today, but maybe tomorrow will be better. Fingers crossed! Thankfully I've managed to stay on top of the washing up throughout all this, which is a blessing in itself!

Thinking of everyone posting and those who haven't posted for a bit but are still battling with this. Thanks for being here, I don't know how I'd manage without you all Star

Casino218 · 02/05/2020 13:39

@baroqueandblue sorry to hear you are still struggling. The floor can wait. Just accept you need more rest and you will get there. I've absolutely got more energy that I had a week ago.

Bornlazy · 02/05/2020 13:39

Hi just checking in. It’s day 50 for me today and I am feeling ok. I am back at work which is physically very tiring but a great pick me up having outside contact. I still don’t feel 100% but I am trying to focus on the positives - if I’ve had COVID19 then I’ve survived it which is more than some people do so I actually feel quite lucky.

I still get lots of random shooting pains in my chest area and abdomen but I’m thinking some of it is wind and trying really hard not to dwell on it. I’ve been walking everyday even though sometimes I feel like I’m not up to it and most of the time I’m glad I went as when I’m out I feel better. Today I didn’t feel so great and my dh ended up picking me up in the car as I just didn’t feel up to walking uphill to get home. My heart rate was 113 walking on the flat which is high for me. Hopefully I’m just having an off day.

So whilst not fully recovered I am back to doing most things I did before. I was not super fit and suffered from lots of aches and pains at the best of times. I wonder if it’s more of a shock to really fit people as it’s so far from what you are used to?

Dorual · 02/05/2020 13:40

Are we any closer to antibody tests yet? I wish it would hurry up. I ordered one from Blue Horizon Medicals but they deleted their Facebook page today which seems dodgy to me :(

Moodgie · 02/05/2020 13:44

@Bornlazy that’s great to hear. What have been your most lingering symptoms? My chest feels funny today and I’m desperate to heart that people have had it as one of the things that have lingered.

Starrynightsabove · 02/05/2020 13:47

@Dorual they won’t have removed it, FB has for misspelling

Starrynightsabove · 02/05/2020 13:47

Selling!

Dorual · 02/05/2020 13:50

Are we really still no closer to a decent test then? This one was an ELISA blood test, analysed in a lab, not one of those ones that look like a pregnancy test. But surely someone has invented a decent one?

baroqueandblue · 02/05/2020 13:55

Thanks @Casino218, wise advice and I'm so glad to hear that you're noticing a real difference since last weekend Smile

@Dorual you must be disappointed, sorry to hear you've been left with that uncertainty over the antibody test. Sounds like there needs to be more government regulation of this aspect of the situation. Hope you haven't lost money?

godhelpusall · 02/05/2020 14:03

@Dorual they are still doing them online
