I’ve just ordered 2kg, yes 2kg of sweets from Amazon!

Usually I might grab a bag of sweets when I pop to the shops or fill the car up.
I’ve not eaten any sweets since mid March and so I’ve just ordered a mahoosive bulk bag of Chewy Sweets from Amazon.
What is wrong with me!
They are due to arrive on Friday, what’s the betting that they will be gone by Monday.......
We are a family of two.

Has anyone else ordered something that you would never ever ordinarily order?

I feel sick already and they’ve not arrived yet 😂

I ordered 6 boxes off Betty Crocker cake mix!

We turn one box into two cakes in my defence!

To be clear, I wasn't stockpiling. You could only order them in multiples of 6 on amazon and I'd tried getting one box from the supermarkets on my shops but none left at all, ever. Never any flour either (which would be my first choice).

2kg is 'only' four bags of percy pigs op, and would have cost a lot less!

Report
Peppafrig · 29/04/2020 11:02

@inwood aren't Percy pigs 170g a packet?

Report
Peppafrig · 29/04/2020 11:03

So it would be more like over 11 packets of Percy pigs to get to 2kg

Back in the days when Approved Food was decent, I bought sweeties there by the very nearly ton. They had jars of sweeties, and I took full advantage of them.

A few weeks ago when we were self isolating (all been sympton free for a few weeks now) and couldn't get deliveries for love nor money, we got a box of chocolate biscuits from Viking, the stationery people. They have a section for catering supplies and while £20 for 71 biscuits like kitkats and toffee crisps was probably steep (I can't work out the maths) it was a necessity that didn't last as long as it should. www.viking-direct.co.uk/en/nestle-chocolate-biscuits-big-biscuit-box-71-pieces-p-1000958

I have a habit of overbuying, though. When my son was a newborn I went on Approved Foods and spotted 300 food bags for 50p a roll. I don't use a lot of food bags, but I saw a bargain and committed. My son is now a teen and I'm finally getting to the end of them.

I ordered a beautiful 1000 piece jigsaw - gave up! Although a local lady has just collected from my doorstep and said she will frame it once she’s done. So at least it’s going to a good home.

We are picking up sweets and chocolate and biscuits and crisps in our usual supermarket shop.

The local deli is doing cake deliveries - again 2 people here but I’ve got £10 worth of cake arriving on Friday. I know they are deli prices but still Blush

I have also ordered gourmet popcorn, 20 different curry powders or pastes and Easter eggs! I have looked on amazon for bulk buying sweets but the prices seemed inflated so I’ve gone down other routes.

@Peppafrig yeahhh, no, I don’t think everyone is out to get me.

I am however very stringent on the quality and sources of food I put in my body. It must be very easy not to be.

I stopped eating sweets when I realised that dentist would be closed during coronavirus.
I bought 100% acetone to remove by gel nails

I want to order one of the massive bags of Haribo fried eggs. No cheap copies though. But I know I’d just eat them all.

I've ordered Cadbury's mini eggs in wholesale boxes, had 4 boxes of 12 biggest size bags, a box of 32 tubes of polos, waiting for a box of giant chocolate buttons. Since lockdown I seem to be craving sweets more than usual & it saves sending ds who is the only one allowed out going to fetch them, considering ordering a big box of Seabrook's crisps next. I'm running a sweetshop out of my room, ds keeps on buying stuff from me, the funds go towards another delivery.

I ordered a box of 60 Strawberry refresher bars and 3kg of pear drops off amazon about a month ago. Refresher bars are long gone but still have about half the pear drops left. Refresher bars were awesome, might buy some more.

"they could contain ANYTHING (rat poison anyone?)"

On Amazon ...?
Must be hard worrying about things like that

I'd consider - not worry - about my teeth
And my pancreas
Not about rat poison
