Realistically, how often do you go to the shops per week?

How often do you go to the shops, including if you pop in for milk one day etc

I mean if everyone in the family is healthy.

Once a week

I've been able to get my once a week Ocado slot back, so I only go to a supermarket once a month to pick my prescription.

2 times a week for bread and milk. Every 1.5 weeks for a main shop.

Twice a week. I shop for my mum at the same time. We also both get milk and bread from the milkman. So if the we run out of dinners we’ve still got the basics.

I get an online shop every week but go out 3 times a week on top of that

Once a week.

I’m in a fairly vulnerable group so my boyfriend has to do it. He can’t carry much so I drive him there and wait in the carpark. I’ve taken a different route every time to make it more fun 😂

Usually I would buy fresh veg etc every 2-3 days.

Once each week, now stock level has improved. Was once each day.

I haven’t been in a supermarket since lockdown started
After initial chaos with Ocado website, it’s now running v smoothly and delivery is very efficient

3 times a week. I'm not he man and I need to carry my shopping home because I don't drive. It's 2 miles. I also pick stuff up for elderly neighbours.
Didn't get chance to do a big shop before lockdown because I was working, shutting down the building and the shelves had been stripped bare anyway.
Can't get an online delivery slot.
Having received the first income of 6 weeks today I can order some meat from local butcher who also do eggs and milk, and a local farm shop is doing veg boxes so I can get one of those. But they're more expensive, I had to make the savings last.
No one delivers bread, butter, cheese, cleaning materials so I'll have to go for them, as well as topping gas/electric up.
Used to shop every day, through necessity, reduced that to the 3 times a week I'm out volunteering, we've still got some restrictions in place in our local shop because it's so small and they have limited stock space, but now I could probably get away with once, maybe twice.
I don't really give a shit what anyone else says about it, because they're not in my position.

This whole situation is bad enough on everyone, without being made to feel like you should go without gas and electric or food so you don't go to the shop as much, oh as well as being slammed for being an idle entitled arse because I'm on furlough - the first of which I've seen today after 6 weeks living on savings. I'm not doing it to break the rules or because I want to, I'm doing it because I needed to. It's certainly no fun carrying it all back from the shop I can tell you!

Twice. One supermarket trip per week then a top up of fresh mid week (Using Click and Collect). I tried to get everything on a once per week shop and various fresh bits were going off esp fruit and veg, salad.

The supermarket shop is at early NHS hour and the other Click and Collect so I feel the risk is minimised.

DH goes once a fortnight. More than enough to get any food, fresh fruit and veg etc.

Not sure why so many people are going to the shops so much. Do you normally go that often? We normally go every 6 weeks and probably every 2 or 3 for fruit and veg.

@FreckledLeopard About four to five times per week
I assume you don't have a fridge or a car? !

We are currently taking it in turns to go once a week, so I go once a fortnight.
I used to shop every other day so this is a big improvement for me

I've been once since the lockdown having a box of fruit and veg delivered each week and a delivery from our local butchers once a week.

For most of this, once a week.
But last week I also went to the pet shop, and this week I've been back to Tesco. Will need to do a scout of the local shops if I cant get flour next week. Got 2 birthdays coming up, and while one child has said he'd like fudge, the other is adament he wants chocolate cake.

I do a big click and collect shop that lasts us two weeks. Then pop to our local farm shop once possibly twice in between to get veg and fruit.

twice a week for three of us. once for a main shop and once for a small shop for milk, bread plus any extra bits of fresh food such as fruit, veg etc.

Slightly less than once a week. Mostly dictated by how much milk we can fit in the fridge. I could probably stretch to once a fortnight if I was really organised and used UHT for the last few days. Our freezer is tiny which doesn't help.

To answer the question above - I am not doing more top-up shops than before. I am doing fewer and have changed my shopping habits. If I don;t have something I need that moment it goes on a whiteboard and I go out when there's a list. Beforehand I'd have gone out for that one item and wouldn't have changed what I wanted to eat that day.

Just to add, three of us in total in the house, but just me going out to the shops twice a week - not three people visiting the shops twice a week!

I go twice a week. I do a main shop on a Monday and usually around Thursday time, I need a few top ups, milk etc.

I’ve not been in 6 weeks.
I get an Ocado delivery every other week, and I send one to my parents every other week too.
We use oat milk so that can be kept in the cupboard.
Bread delivered from a local bakers.
Wine delivered from a local wine merchants.
Veg and fruit delivered from a local shop.

One Ocado delivery at the weekend. One trip to the supermarket mid-week for bread and fruit - and to replenish my secret chocolate stash.

lynsey we go quite often because we don't drive. As a family of four we can carry everything going we need (up a bloody massive hill)in one or sometimes even two shops a week, so we're going 2/3 times a week. We get through way to much fresh stuff (and well, food in general)to manage two weeks. Usually we do a big shop once a month for heavy and bulky things, then once a week for fresh food with maybe a couple of tops ups for milk, bread and any other bits we need.

I think people aren't prepared to alter their eating habits/shopping habits in reality

Autistic one isn't buying into that I'm afraid.

So one home delivery, a couple of extra small shops and maybe one general store.

I know many posters think I should just starve my child with autism, but I'd rather not really.

Averaging about every 5-6 days here. We get milk, juice and eggs delivered. Considering a veg box delivery which would mean we could probably stretch it to around 10 days between shop trips, but it's not a cheap option.
