Significant alert in respect of Children and Paediatric shock. It has been reported that over the past three weeks, there has been a rise in the number of Children presenting with a multisystem inflammatory state requiring intensive care.

Looks legit, sadly

No signature etc ?

pocketem · 27/04/2020 09:14

Why does it look legit to you?

PurpleDaisies · 27/04/2020 09:17

Since it’s got such high scientific credentials, I am very worried.

Oh wait....

Emeeno1 · 27/04/2020 09:20

This information cannot be verified. And by the use of your language and the post you linked to I would consider this scaremongering.

azaleanth90 · 27/04/2020 09:25

It's referenced here too www.hsj.co.uk/acute-care/exclusive-national-alert-as-coronavirus-related-condition-may-be-emerging-in-children/7027496.article
Does look concerning, but numbers likely to be very small. We already know the virus presents in freaky ways.

ihatethecold · 27/04/2020 09:28

Can anyone summarise the issue?

EricaNernie · 27/04/2020 09:28

well if this information has been passed to doctors that is a positive, and not many cases either.

EricaNernie · 27/04/2020 09:29

you need to be care where you get your information.
follow legit sources

ihatethecold · 27/04/2020 09:29

Don’t worry. I’ve read the above link.

RigaBalsam · 27/04/2020 09:29

Its scary if a) true b) made up.

SpudsAreLife84 · 27/04/2020 09:29

Seems legit- in what way? Could you link an actual study rather than a Twitter link? Thanks.

owlstwooting · 27/04/2020 09:31

I'm not 'scaremongering' , I'm scared. Sorry if that offends.

Similar reports have come from France and the US.

It looks legit because the Twitter account has been active since 2011, if you go back into the tweets the person is clearly a medical professional, the band they play in also exists. On balance I would say it's legit.

Honestly, I'm not trying to scaremonger, I just thought people might want to see this. You can make your own judgements.

azaleanth90 posted a link to a study above.

Seriously?

EricaNernie · 27/04/2020 09:34

if you child becomes ill op, contact your GP, that is the phe message

EricaNernie · 27/04/2020 09:34

Very small numbers likely op

Booboostwo · 27/04/2020 09:35

Enough to make you despair of the human race.

EricaNernie · 27/04/2020 09:36

step away from the internet op,

gamerchick · 27/04/2020 09:38

As I told my mother after yet another intense ranty phone call. If you're scared then stop looking for stuff that'll make it worse. You'll always find something if you go looking.

owlstwooting · 27/04/2020 09:39

No need to pile on top of me because I'm maybe not as 'educated' as you all. Kindness costs nothing.

Anyway the proof that the warning to GPs and intensive care doctors is legit can be found here -

Just another symptom to look out for, the information is for doctors. dont be alarmed

Mummyoflittledragon · 27/04/2020 09:41

There was a lot made about gastrointestinal issues at the beginning. I’ve also read about discolouration of toes in the media. Thank you for highlighting it. I have also read the very legitimate source posted by azanleath (thanks).

We are indeed being treated like children. Disseminating this information would cause panic, I’m sure.

hoxt · 27/04/2020 09:41

It is being tweeted by the Paediatric Intensive Care Society, so yes, I’d say it was legit 🤷🏼‍♀️.

Rodentsinmygarden · 27/04/2020 09:51

It is legit sadly, being reported by the guardian now too
