He is lying about the EU procurement deal by talking about another deal entirely that 'he made the decision to join but that hasn't delivered anything yet'. Liar.

No, Mr Hancock. What about the actual EU procurement deal that the UK turned down for political reasons, that HAS delivered to the EU countries that took part? What about THAT deal?

This is what has put our whole country in this position of no PPE. The fucking Tory fucking one-trick-pony Brexit government Has Played Politics with Our Lives.

He didn’t take any time off did he after suffering from the virus. Post viral fatigue and stress. Feel sorry for the guy, someone else needs to step in for a while I think.

I mean at the end he couldn’t even remember the word for conference. He’s knackered.

Have you fucked up big-time at work? Well get the Handcock blame-deflecter from JML.

The Handcock Blame Deflector deviates, prevaricates, obfuscates and dissembles, all in one easy jerk.

The Handcock Blame Deflector is not available in the shops. Just promise to send us some gloves and masks that fell off the back of a yak and we'll get back to you. Eventually.

Yeah he’s knackered and probably sick to the back teeth of the whole shitshow! He’s probably pissed off that he’s being left to carry the can whilst Boris puts his feet up. I think he should chuck a sickie Grin

We said the same - he's struggling a lot when it's not scripted. Rishi Sunak and Dominic Raab are much more confident and polished.

I wouldnt want to be in his shoes, would anyone?
I'm no fan of the tories but it must be very tough with the PM incapacitated at a time like this
Come on Matt, you can do it!

Did anyone notice that Van Tam was standing on a box? My only source of slight amusement in an otherwise nerve-inducing briefing

I was just thinking how well he seems to be coping with all the questions, no signs of exasperation or temper even though he must be incredibly stressed.

Matt Hancocks Dutch equivalent actually did collapse in the middle of press briefing. They must all be so stressed and tired.

Who'd be a health secretary at a time like this Sad

At some point, the cross-party consensus will break and it will be torches and pitchfork times. We are living in dark and straightened times with a leaderless incompetent government seemingly driving us onto the rocks.

Omfg what on EARTH was that. Something seems terribly wrong with him?! He couldn’t even say the word conference before he bolted out of there. His manner today made me really nervous and actually quite concerned for him. It made you wonder what on Earth has happened to rattle him like that. Something didn’t seem right.

We turned down a share of life-saving equipment because "we have left the EU."

Truly "Brexit, Do or Die."

Yes, at @Bimbleboo he seemed also pre occupied, maybe they all did. Bad news behind scenes?

I wonder how they decide who will do the press briefing and who will do the media interviews in the morning.

Do a bit of BBC Breakfast, grill on the Today programme and then roasted on Piers Morgan and GMB

Do they draw lots

I feel sorry for the care workers, nurses and doctors who have died from CV-19, some of whom wrote to Hancock that PPE was an issue but then went onto die.

I don't care for a career politician who cannot get PPE to front line staff after telling us all that the NHS was well prepped and we had enough PPE.

Quite unbelievable that Hancock has lied repeatedly to the UK but some people feel sorry for him.

The captain has left the bridge and the iceberg looms ahead. Nearer my God to Thee. Now, where are the lifeboats women and children first. Boris you need to stay on the bridge. We shall save Carrie and child.

I wouldn't want his job, poor bloke. It's very easy for armchair watchers to sit there heckling without knowing what's going on for him as a person. We're all bloody human aren't we? Yes, it's fucking horrible situation, but Hancock is still a human being. Imagine being put in that role such a short time ago and then having to face all of this. No amount of 'training' can prepare anyone for such a dramatic change.

I felt sorry for him too. Turned it off in the end, too much of a car crash!

I do feel sorry for him. He’s not getting everything right but you can see he is trying. We are all in uncharted waters, he’s doing his best to get a vaccine ready ASAP, I thought I heard him say we have invested the most money into the process. I know I wouldn’t want to be in his shoes, you can’t please everybody

Yy jasjas & mockers I have no words that would articulate enough what we have learned today, they turned down life saving equipment because of ideology, they lied about PPE from Turkey they have not approached as far as I’m aware British companies that could make scrubs etc & yet it’s ok because they are doing there best WTF

As an aside, Van Tam's grandad was the Prime Minister of Vietnam. Interesting fact, I thought!

Hard to speak with a back full of knives. Plus he's totally out of his depth, like the rest of the cabinet.
