Gosh he is struggling. Forgot the name of one of the advisers.

I've always thought Matty did alright. Not today though. Hasn't instilled any confidence.

Raab on the other hand always looks like he's going to burst in to tears!!!

Johnson is rumoured to have done. They truly are a nasty bunch of arrogant toffs, man and boy.

I want to hear less in their answers about how they are straining every muscle and more actual content and detail. We're not stupid and increasingly we want more evidence to to be able to find them credible.

He looks absolutely exhausted. I like him a lot and I feel very sorry for him today.

He's going to be so happy when this press conference is over!! Do you think he gets chance to go home and put his feet up for an hour or 2?

I'm starting to feel quite sorry for him!

Burning £50 notes in front of homeless people is a ritual allegedly peformed by exclusive male clubs at Oxford University such as The Bullingdon Club which Boris Johnson, David Cameron, George Osborne belonged to.

He knows he's going to be for it when this is all over and the blamestorming begins. The Sunday Times article at the weekend was absolutely damning for how Boris had handled things - but Boris has now attained sainthood on a zipwire and so when they are looking for Someone To Blame - Hancock's balls are on the chopping block.

Vera who burnt £50 notes in front of homeless people? What a despicable thing to do?

Apparently it’s a Bullingdon Club thing.

Lots of rumours today that he is being lined up to be the government scapegoat so perhaps the strain is starting to show! To be fair, I don’t think he’s doing a particularly great job but he’s not alone is that is he so doesn’t deserve to be a lone scapegoat!

JVT on why checking for symptoms at UK airports is problematic as there is a delay in virus developing. No point essentially.

HK etc have a methodology though...

New cases coming in from abroad would be minuscule & irrelevant as it’s rampant in U.K already says JVT.

Post viral fatigue, he doesn’t look well. he needs to rest.

Matt is one of the best of em if they hung him out to dry at this critical time then they have no scruples or shames. But then they don't have Johnson has notorious form.

Reports that he is going to take the flak for promising 100,000 tests being done by the end of the month maybe getting to him. It is a painful watch today.

I think Hancock will resign very soon

He's knackered, hasn't been well and No.10 are briefing against him

I feel sorry for MH today, do you think they’ll make him the fall guy? He looks like he’s going to burst into tears. He has seemed quite genuine I’ve always thought but this pandemic is obviously unprecedented. As for SAGE, apparently they will not be releasing any of their papers until the pandemic is over according to Sky News. I don’t understand that.

They'll all be for the chopping board except for Boris who had his 4ltrs of oxygen. Oh, he was so brave, and it was touch and go.
Whilst every fucker else is dying at home, because they can't be taken in until on deaths door.
Our government stinks, it really does.

I agree. Was listening on radio so audio cues more obvious. I am not a government apologist but I will be human and suggest he is shattered and stressed out. The vacuum left from Boris being recouperating must make it especially difficult.

I thought he was going to collapse! He is taking the brunt of it all and whilst I think they have made a huge cock yo, I don't think he should be the whipping boy.

A few reasons

  1. The PPE debacle
  2. Number 5 is no 2nd Wave which is an incredibly difficult thing to promise
  3. Tiredness
  4. He knows he will be the fall guy (he is health secretary so makes sense)
  5. the figures were not as good today - no decreases in hospital cases and deaths were up to close enough top amount
  6. ONS report
  7. The knowledge they dont know how to get out of this now

I agree he looks exhausted now I'm looking at him and not just listening to the stumbling er, er, erm over his words. It's the first time I've seen van tam. There's something about him I don't like. He's got an arrogance about him. I like Whitty. I get the impression he's having to tow the party line rather than give his true expertise though.
