Thread for continuing long-term Coronavirus support

OP posts:
OldLace · 27/04/2020 22:03

thank you for your kind replies. If I have / had it it seems very mild.
I ate 2 squares of 85% chocolate just now and I cant taste it at ALL.
I still feel like I've been punched in the bridge of the nose and I've had a couple of days of being very aware of my lungs / bronchial tubes and then its gone away, but come back again a few days later.
And the palpitations were a first for me. ExH was dropping off the kids (allowed between households atm) and he said he felt he should call 999 (we didn't but he waited 30 mins before he left me alone with kids just in case - it passed but I felt very knackered afterwards).
But nothing nearly as bad as others on the thread so wondered if it was just anxiety. I guess I wont know, unless it gets worse. Ho hum!

OldLace · 27/04/2020 22:07

@Crayfishforyou

x post.
SO SORRY to hear about your friend Flowers

hollieberrie · 27/04/2020 22:21

@OldLace those heart palpitations are scary, I'm glad youre doing ok. Hopefully it's just a mild case but my advice would be to take it very easy.. no strenous exercise or anything like that. I wasnt too bad the first 2 weeks of having it and then i pushed myself too hard physically - long brisk walks - and got really poorly.

Gunner30 · 27/04/2020 22:30

@WorriesomeDad thanks for the article and hope you start to feel better soon. It's good the long term effects like ours are beginning to get more widely reported.

Day 44 for me and still feeling ok without any relapse even after walking and gardening at the weekend. Had a video call with the GP regarding the ongoing sore throat and he has asked for a chest x ray and bloods just to check everything is ok. He thinks it probably is just post viral, but could be linked to GERD, so has prescribed some PPI medication to help control the acid production, so i'll let you all know how that goes.

Sorry that so many are having the palpitations and chest pains. whilst it hasn't completely gone for me, It does eventually get better and really helped to reduce my anxiety. I found as soon as they start, rest and breathing exercises really helped. Take care all.

Kitcat122 · 27/04/2020 22:38

@mumlurker @longshot I am the same as you. I have given up on the idea of any exercise for the time being and just going for walks (with no big hills).

Egghead68 · 27/04/2020 22:44

@Dorual the chest pains you are describing sound like what I had. I don’t know what they are then.

Here is a (not very scholarly) article about causes of a feeling of impending doom, in case of interest (one of them is blood clot-related):

How it really helps hearing other people’s stories. I’m on day 36 - into week 6 of my “journey” since onset of first fever and feeling unwell. I’ve been up out of bed all day, not doing much, put on a washing, had a wander round the garden but nothing overly exerting as I know from previous weeks if I over do things then I relapse. My chest still feels weird and tight with a slight coldness, heart palpitation has gone (fingers crossed) throughout the day but always returns in bed at night as does the impending doom feeling and slight overheating feeling with slight sweats. Have a new under left hand side ribs pain? Feels muscular but it can’t be as I’ve done nothing? Spacey feeling still throughout day but lessening. Headaches gone. Gastric symptoms, diarrhea and gassy sounds have stopped.(For time being). Bowels appear normal but perhaps going a bit more often than usual. Awake more refreshed but still very tired and as day goes on I get worse. From about 4pm i tend to sit more and find the easiest tasks more difficult. By 8pm I feel exhausted and as though I have run a marathon...

I would love to know why my back still often feels internally hot and burny, but not painful at all. If anyone hears, I'd love to know what that is. I'm assuming it's repair, but who knows?

Needsomegoodnews · 28/04/2020 00:06

Sudden racing heart tonight out of nowhere! My heart rate has been pretty settled for the past week or so, not even too bad walking around and resting between 60 and 70. Went to bathroom and just standing still it shot up to 125 for no reason and felt pounding, so lied down and it eventually dropped to 110 (double checked with oximeter, sats fine) and now about 10 mins later to 80 odd. Felt a bit shaky with it but might be because it came out of the blue. Today has been mostly just chest pain around sternum and a new bruise feeling lower left rib. Now anxious, which isn’t going to help....

Can’t believe still having to deal with this uncertainty after 6 weeks Sad - sorry for the negativity!

emoojoo · 28/04/2020 00:12

@Needsomegoodnews hello I'm on about day 38 and I've just had the same - went to bed and woke about 1 hr later with racing heart rate and feeling boiling. Temp back up to 37.7. Sats ok, but now too scared to try and sleep again. (I've mostly been reading these threads I only posted back on lungs 4 I think.)

Wingingit15 · 28/04/2020 00:24

Eurgh yet another night of waking after half an hour all pacey and anxious. Other than being totally wiped out I feel like this is one of my final symptoms and really isn’t helping me feel any better 😧

Needsomegoodnews · 28/04/2020 00:32

@emoojoo sorry to hear you’re suffering too but it does help to hear I’m not alone and that it’s some sort of ‘normal’ in this damn virus! Sounds like you’re similar @wingingit15 too and the added stress doesn’t help with sleeping though. Going to have to read for a bit to try to distract..

emoojoo · 28/04/2020 00:44

@Needsomegoodnews yes sounds like we are experiencing similar. It is reassuring to know we're not in this alone. My heart rate has been all over the place the last few days - I'm struggling with GERD reflux now and I think this makes heart rate stuff worse for me. I was disappointed to get raised temperature tonight too, I'm so tired of the symptoms coming and going.

@Wingingit15 hope you are ok too and that we might all get some restful sleep at some point!

musicposy · 28/04/2020 04:09

I’ve also had madly racing heart and temperature up again tonight. 7 weeks in (50 days I guess). Keep on waking back up in the night. I’d convinced myself I’ve caught something else/ another strain by having blood tests last week but being in here is reassuring me a bit.

Egghead68 · 28/04/2020 06:02

Morning. Day 38/39. Slight catarrh, slight sore throat and chest pressure but otherwise think I am tired (woke at 4am) but OK, touch wood.

Take care everyone.

emoojoo · 28/04/2020 06:15

Day 39 for me - complete relapse and My symptoms back to similar to my day 8/9. Had fever, palpitations, reflux and elevated resting heart all night. Now have Headache, GI issues, loose bowels, metallic taste, excessive thirst, achy chest. Feel like I've been run over by bus. Am going to call doctor again this am. Has anyone else had this happen all over again nearly 6weeks on? Sad

Egghead68 · 28/04/2020 06:29

Oh no @emoojoo. Really feel for you. That’s my worst nightmare. Hope you feel better soon.

Tangledyarn · 28/04/2020 07:28

@emoojoo Yeah my last particularly bad symptom patch happened at about 6 weeks in. I still have symptoms now (week 8) but things are generally improving, just can do very little still in order to manage fatigue and keep symptoms at bay Flowers

musicposy · 28/04/2020 07:36

@emoojoo yes, going through it now at week 7. I moaned to DH that it may as well be week 2. Beyond fed up.

Wingingit15 · 28/04/2020 07:52

Morning everyone
Was contemplating calling doctor again to see if there’s anything I can do to help get some sleep but realised wierdly that though in the depths of night the sensation of waking is so familiar now I literally can’t explain it !! Used my pulse ox and readings were ok inc pulse but feels racy. But can it really be if pulse is normal ?!

MillStone · 28/04/2020 08:31

Morning everyone. Hope you had restful nights.

Somewhere between 31-35 days in, my key issue throughout been awful breathlessness.

Does anyone else at this stage find it very hard to get comfortable enough to breath? Or are you consistently breathless no matter your position?

Like many my lingering symptoms are chest tightness, SOB, various back pains and heart peculiarities.

Sitting up straight on a chair, reclined on a sofa, or laying back in bed with pillows all result in my breath becoming far, far worse to the point where I have move to 2 of the only positions I find any comfort in. They're ether sitting leaning forward with a straight back, or laying on my front on my bed.

godhelpusall · 28/04/2020 08:42

@Egghead68 I had the doom
Thing as an early symptom of sepsis - I'm surprised it's not been mentioned.

Lightsabre · 28/04/2020 08:50

@MillStone, have you tried antibiotics?

I'm still short of breath too at Day 32 with all the symptoms you've described. I finished a course of amoxicillin on Saturday and the GP has now prescribed Doxycycline but advised waiting a few days to see if my symptoms ease. I'm not as short of breath as I was 2 weeks ago, or even a week ago but it's stopping me walking for more than 20 minutes and I'm so tired all the time. I had a fairly good day yesterday where I was able to stay downstairs all day, do lunch, had a short walk and pottered in the garden

Crayfishforyou · 28/04/2020 08:58

@emoojoo and @musicposy oh no, I hope it's just a blip and settle quickly.

29 days in and after a course of amoxicillin my cough is worse. It's very deep but nothing is coming up.

My cheeks also feel burning, and they are red.
Dd has quite red cheeks too that feel a little warm.
