Thread for continuing long-term Coronavirus support

@TheDrsWife so glad you've finally got some relief! Everything seems so much less awful after some sleep.

For those who got rib pain, did you find anything to alleviate it?

WorriesomeDad · 23/04/2020 21:04

Cheers @fedupofbed. Me too, and same to everyone else going though a blip at the moment.

@TheDrsWife46 that’s brilliant you’ve got something to help deal with those sensations, sounds like you’ve been through the mill recently.

@Dorual
I get a bpm in the low 50s too, I had it this morning. Its really frightening.
Last time I had it was about 10 days ago accompanied by deep chest pains, dizziness and my arm hurt. I thought I was having a heart attack.
It's the worst symptom by far. If my O2 levels drop I know it's under 10 mins to hospital. But that???
The not knowing if and when it will hit is the worst

Tangledyarn · 23/04/2020 21:24

Weirdly after v high bp when my breathing was really bad I then went onto have episodes of my bp being 50ish and just felt really unwell and faint, but it did resolve after a week or so on and off (am into week 7 now and it's not happened for a while) x

Egghead68 · 23/04/2020 22:08

@TheDrsWife46 I’m glad you’ve got something that helps.

AnythingPecan · 23/04/2020 22:28

Just wondering whether anybody eligible is going to apply to get tested from tomorrow (following Matt Hancock's announcement earlier.
Is this the anti body test that we've all been waiting for? If not, would it still pick up a virus if, after 37 days, I'm still showing symptoms?

Lightsabre · 23/04/2020 22:36

@AnythingPecan, yes I'm going to apply for testing but the guidance says it should ideally be done around Day 3 - I'm Day 27 now. If it comes back negative then I'll feel reassured that at least it's out of my system and these effects are post viral. I'm also awaiting the antibody test.

AnythingPecan · 23/04/2020 22:40

@Lightsabre true. But a negative result could also mean we haven't had it? Thereby adding to the confusion?

Moodgie · 23/04/2020 22:41

I’m going to try and apply. The BBC website outlines the difference between the two tests but mentions it would be a swab - so this would show if you have the virus, not if you have already had it.

isitorisntit · 23/04/2020 22:46

Evening! How're you all doing? Today my chest didn't hurt (first time in 6 weeks!) when I breathed normally. Whoop whoop. Anyone else getting odd muscle twitches? I keep getting one in my head (side of my head).

Lightsabre · 23/04/2020 22:52

True @AnythingPecan , but I've spoken to 3 x GP's, twice to 111 doctors and had the paramedics out once and they're all saying it's Covid 19 classic symptoms. The niggle will still be there though so if I get a negative result I'll still be super cautious about going out etc. I'm really hoping the antibody test isn't far behind.

Lightsabre · 23/04/2020 22:53

@isitorisntit, the DrsWife and others have experienced some neurological symptoms later on.

AnythingPecan · 23/04/2020 22:55

@Lightsabre thanks that's very reassuring. It's funny how this topic has dominated recent mumsnet threads and many of us are still doubting ourselves! I too hope that there's a reliable antibody test soon. I think that would just give us that confidence to return to normality. Being a teacher I'm so anxious about the prospect of having to go back to work when not feeling like I did prior to symptoms starting on March 17th. Confused

Lightsabre · 23/04/2020 22:59

I know how you feel @AnythingPecan - I'm actually terrified of returning to work even with a positive antibody test (involved in hospital discharges). If I haven't had it and then get it, I'll be stuffed after this!

AnythingPecan · 23/04/2020 23:03

@Lightsabre that's the thing - without understanding whether or not we're immune from reinfection, the antibody test is worthless

Dorual · 23/04/2020 23:10

If we take a test and it comes back negative, and then we get symptoms in a month's time, will we be eligible for another test then?

@Tangledyarn and @Crayfishforyou

I had low heart rate all day. Felt faint once, then it passed. Had a single stabby pain in heart area this evening and since then heart rate is around 70. Not sure why. I am very bloated with indigestion and heartburn though, so I think that's causing the oain and discomfort. My bp, oxygen sats and temp are normal.

isitorisntit · 23/04/2020 23:12

@pecan and @sabre I feel the same. If I've not had it and I get it, or I get it again, I worry it'll finish me off.

Dorual · 23/04/2020 23:21

@Lightsabre is there any news on an antibody test yet?

Tangledyarn · 23/04/2020 23:22

@isitorisntit Yeah I had a lot of strange symptoms, twitchy muscles, buzzing in my body, random stabbing pains etc. Things are slowly getting better though although am still getting the buzzing at times, think its day 49 today x

Tangledyarn · 23/04/2020 23:25

Not sure what the testing guidelines will be but in my nhs trust its within the first 3 days of symptoms.

Lightsabre · 23/04/2020 23:27

No, sadly not @Dorual but I'm hoping it won't be far behind. I'm hoping the antibodies last in the same way other Coronavirus's do.

Lightsabre · 23/04/2020 23:31

Forgot to say there is a private clinic off Harley St in London offering antibody tests at £150 but they're not licensed (but are being used in some other countries). Another mumsnetter on earlier Lungs threads took one (from a different source) and it showed she had developed antibodies.

Lightsabre · 23/04/2020 23:32

@Tangledyarn, the guidance says that but I suppose if you're still symptomatic it's worth a try.

Howlongwillthislast · 23/04/2020 23:38

Hi everyone, day 35 here, (not sure exactly but that's the day when the chest pain and tightness started).

Main symptoms are chest (lung) pain, shortness of breath, pain in upper back, middle back, ribs, lower back and abdomen, nausea, diarrhoea and lack of appetite. I have never experienced anything like this, I have never felt so ill and so scared on a daily basis. The lack of medical care has added to the distress.

I was given antibiotics a couple of weeks ago which made no difference at all. I had a pretty good day today and was hopeful that maybe I was turning a corner. But the dreaded lung pain and chest tightness have started again tonight.
I'm really glad I found this thread though, now I know there are others going through the same thing. I don't know anyone in real life who is ill like this!
I hope you all manage to get a good night's rest tonight, not easy when you're this sick.

Dorual · 23/04/2020 23:57

Shame, I'm nowhere near London so can't take the antibody test. Would if I could though!
