Why? Why oh why are people still coming here on holiday?

Devon. We have seen caravans and motorhomes and people obviously on holiday (canoe and suitcases etc on car roof, all that stuff; it's bloody obvious), bikes loaded with camping stuff....

We live 20 miles from the beach and none of us have seen a wave for weeks. DH spends half the day complaining because he can't go to the beach in this lovely weather as he normally does.

Thank goodness the market is not on, or we'd be over-run. Really worried as both dd and I are vulnerable (not extremely vulnerable) and dh freaks out every time he has to go out as our Designated Shopper that he'll bring it home to us.

Why are people such arseholes?

We're going to need road blocks!

@aut0replenish why can't you go though. Here in Ireland we can go anywhere within 2km of our home for exercise! What are your restrictions in the uk??

The problem here is my parents have 2 homes - he would love to live in Cornwall but still works in south east - he came to his Cornwall home at the beginning of March and was advised to stay where he was by the government - he’s been isolating for nearly 2 months - Cornish folk don’t want anyone that isn’t permanent residents it seems

Seriously ! Are you Cornish ? Your gonna go bust pretty soon and I’ve v little sympathy !

This thread had died a death on March 13th; fun to see someone's resurrected it!

As I didn't call anyone selfish, I can't explain what I might have meant by it, helsbels100, but maybe that question wasn't aimed at me?

I still think people fleeing to the country is astoundingly mediaeval! We've had years of education since then

You sound like a lovely person. No wonder the neighbours of your third? home in Cornwall love your family.

@helsbels100 I hope your parents report the harassment, and intimidation to the police. It says a lot about someone who abuses vulnerable elderly people in their late 70s. Who are doing nothing wrong. They were in their holiday home before lockdown. Perfectly legal.

Have you considered why Cornwall "will go bust soon" @helsbels100? Because the economy is now so reliant on tourism, in large part due to second home owners like you pricing out locals and decimating everything except tourist related activities. So for all your holier than thou "this would take up school and doctors places if people lived there permanently" - yes, that's the whole fucking point, more local people needing services therefore more employment for people to provide those services.
