@longshot

I should add, the arm pain is (according to the doctor) caused by a trapped nerve. I've been lying on my front at night which crushes my arm (and probably sitting on a laptop too long).

Meercatmama · 12/04/2020 10:34

Good morning all
Day 28 started fine for me and now I have cooked breakfast have started to dip, Back comes the headache and some tiredness. Husband got up and did a few chores ( don't know why he did that) and has ended up back in bed for a while and feel extremely tired today and breathless. We are still both trying to follow our idea of getting up when we feel well enough to move around and to keep resting when we feel we have to. Hoping everyone has a day when they feel they are improving even if it is only a little bit

longshot · 12/04/2020 10:39

@mumlurker thanks that’s good to know as I know we are around the same stage. Yes my right arm is a bit achey now too. You are right it kind of moves around!

Moodgie · 12/04/2020 10:49

Hi everyone, please may I join?
I am most likely day 38. Started with a sore throat 5/6th of March, then it felt like pressure on chest. Saw a gp on the 12th, she thought most likely from the cold. The following week I started feeling better, was at work, it just felt like something still in my windpipe. Also my eyes were itchy at times. Up till that Sunday I kept feeling better and still though it was just a cold. Then the following Monday, 23rd, I had to go to bed. I haven’t had any cough apart from a very slight one in that second week and no fever. All the last three weeks were on and off breathing difficulties, and they varied too - like breathing through cotton wool, not enough air in the room, something in the windpipe, heavier breathing - and of course fatigue. There have been times when I felt much better, got up and cooked something quickly, and then dipped again, that has been a good few times. I saw a doctor last Sunday, after two weeks in bed, he listened to my chest and said viral inflammation to the lungs, my oxygen was 98% and he said I’d be fine. There hasn’t been much improvement since, up and down again, so called the gp on Friday, he got me a Ventolin inhaler that hasn’t made any difference. Had an awful night last night. The breathing also is worse when lying down so trying to sit up or lie on my tummy. I am upset and scared and trying to be positive, but it is so hard.

mumlurker · 12/04/2020 10:59

Hi @moodgie

I think we can all relate to the fear - my GP has also given my lungs the all clear and told me just to rest rest rest. But it is scary. I've found this thread a great support though . Just even being able to compare symptoms has turned out to be a great comfort. It's hard and I am struggling to do this at times, but trying to accept it will be a slow recovery has given me some peace of mind.

TheDrsWife46 · 12/04/2020 11:04

Morning all, I had a terrible night and eventually fell asleep at 3.30am and then couldn't rouse myself enough to watch the kids do an egg hunt, so I feel awful at not being there for that.

@Bornlazy you’ve articulated how I feel myself so well, that consulting the doctor etc is based soley on “are you breathing” and that that seems sufficient for coping but Ive really struggled with the other symptoms like chills, diarrhoea, tremors in my limbs etc.

I can’t imagine how you’d even manage to work a full shift if you feel anything like I do. As it stands for me I’d struggle to even do a school run let alone and actual shift of work in a caring capacity. I know you must feel huge pressure to be back in the mix, contributing what you can to the cause, buy if you’re not physically ready don’t push yourself into regression of symptoms yourself. Sad

Bornlazy · 12/04/2020 11:10

@longshot that’s reassuring that you’ve had an ECG which was normal despite the same pain being present at that time. My pain is probably about boob level. I’d love a chest X-ray but then think if it showed anything it might freak me out as I definitely think mine is viral rather than bacterial so not much they can do.

I feel the virus is like endometriosis and it has embedded itself ( can’t get the imagine of those bloody spikes out of my head) in various parts of my body so that when it flares up I feel it in all those places. Not sure if that makes much sense.

Moodgie · 12/04/2020 11:12

Thank you @mumlurker. Is your breathing all ok now? Since I saw the doctor last Sunday mine is still not good, I think maybe it’s getting a bit better and then here comes another dip. Do you think you can still have breathing difficulties after it has cleared?

longshot · 12/04/2020 11:30

@moodgie mine isn’t good today (day 33) and yesterday my breathing was feeling ok I just had a racing heart and tiredness / anxious feeling. It’s so very up and down!!

Likening to endometriosis is interesting, I have a form of that and seen to be predisposed to getting infections and inflammation and things. Having said that other than the adenmyosis I have I have nothing chronic. I’ve had stuff and got over it in time so I really hope this will be the same. I had no lung or heart issues that I know or before this so I think there is hope. I do wonder if I may be more susceptible to chest stuff afterwards though or become asthmatic. Will just have to see.

Pinkpather40 · 12/04/2020 11:31

Hi all,

So pleased I came into Mumsnet! Thought I was going mad!!!

I wanted to see if anyone was around week 6 (day 39)!!??

In short-

Started with super sore throat like razor blades and just a general not feeling great!

Headaches, lots of headaches

I lost my sense of taste and smell for about 3 weeks

Really painful thighs for no reason and this lasted for a few days!

Stuffy nose and still have that now

Super tired

Tight chest, back pain.

Had hot and cold chills and had the shakes with really clammy hands and feet!

Anyway after 2/3 weeks I started to feel better although my chest still felt tight, like someone was sitting on it. Anyway that seemed to pass after a few days.

I then had a week of feeling fine, even had some wine and did some exercise however a 3 saturdays ago I woke and could not get out of bed. Chest/lung abs back pain was crazy and super tight. Seemed to be better when I was lying down. Completely lost my appetite and didn't eat for days, my stomach has not rumbled in about a month or more.

I have had an x Ray and scan on my stomach as have been so bloated, trouble with gas and constipation. Also had ecg, blood pressure checked etc. have also been suffering with acid reflux, gerd or whatever for weeks which I rarely had before. Really quite debilitating. Been taking omeprezole, gaviscon, peppermint tablets etc. Some days better than others but here I am and although feel better in myself my stomach, acid etc, tight chest still going on!

Started over the last few days getting super dizzy all the time and had a cracking headache last night too!

Literally trying everything under the sun! Anyone in a similar boat with symptoms for this long? Advice tips??? So so so fed up :( x

Pinkpather40 · 12/04/2020 11:33

Just to add seems to be worse if I had lots of sugar! Symptoms flare up!! I have had endometriosis in the past and feels kind of similar! Very weird! Confused

fedupofbed · 12/04/2020 11:36

@Bornlazy re the virus being embedded, that makes total sense and sums up exactly how I feel.

@TheDrsWife46 sorry you had such a terrible night. Hope you get some rest today.

Moodgie · 12/04/2020 11:45

@longshot How does your breathing feel? Mine at the moment is like breathing through something.

longshot · 12/04/2020 11:56

@moodgie yes mine is the same. It seems worse in the morning when I wake as my nose is a bit congested then. I’ve done steam inhalation which helps clear that but lungs just can’t get enough in. My sats are ok but if I do anything at all or even talk a lot I’m breathing more often and get dizzy and tired. Not fun

longshot · 12/04/2020 11:59

@Pinkpather40 poor you!! You’re a week ahead of me although I never really felt better, I did have about 3 says near the start where I felt mostly ok and then about 4 days last week I picked up and could do stuff as long as rested too.

Today I’m not so bad in myself but breathing isn’t good so I’m tired and in bed! Have been up a bit this morning. Would say I am doing 7.5% of my normal daily activity now!! At my best last week it was about 40%. I am highly active in normal life so this has turned my life upside down!

fedupofbed · 12/04/2020 12:00

Hello @Pinkpather40 and welcome to the thread, though sorry that you're still poorly.

I too recently joined and have been ill for a similar amount of time - I'm day 40 or thereabouts. I don't know anyone in real life who's feeling like me, and nothing in the media too, so hearing people's experiences here have been a comfort- though sad that we're all still feeling like this.

I too started with a slight sore throat. This progressed to a tightness of breath, flu symptoms and upset tummy. The weeks begin to blur but then it moved on to really high fever and very ill.

High fever passed about 2-3 weeks ago. Recurring symptoms are now slightly raised temp, feel nauseous/ light headed/ like I'm going to pass out, intermittent tummy problems/ diarrhoea/heartburn, burning sensation in airways and breathlessness (like my lungs are half the size). This is my biggest worry as whenever I start to feel better in myself the breathlessness increases.

This thread has shown me that I'm not alone though, which is a great psychological help.

WorriesomeDad · 12/04/2020 12:02

Anyone else still getting breathlessness after 25 days?! (30 from cold symptoms beginning). Intermittent breathlessness (at rest), fast heart rate and mild fatigue have pretty much been my only symptoms for the past week or so. I’d be really happy to swap them for something else!

longshot · 12/04/2020 12:24

@worriesomedad yes and day 33 here!! Yesterday breathing was ok but today it’s bad again! Heart rate up and exhausted. I did nothing at all yesterday so can’t have made myself worse if that makes sense!

longshot · 12/04/2020 12:24

@Tangledyarn how are you doing? Been thinking of you.

OneDayAtATime123 · 12/04/2020 12:28

@mumlurker
I have headaches too, and found the Neti Pot very helpful in alleviating them. I was told that it is due to sinus pressure . I use the Neti Pot three times a day. Upon waking up , during the day and before I go to bed.
I hope you feel better.

Dorual · 12/04/2020 12:29

When did you feel you were past the "danger of dying" phase please?

OneDayAtATime123 · 12/04/2020 12:41

@WorriesomeDad
I am around your timeline and have the symptoms you mention. Some days are good, but then I feel breathlessness on certain days and have rapid pulse rate and mild fatigue. Since the last two days, I have been feeling okay, but I can't say about tomorrow.

OneDayAtATime123 · 12/04/2020 12:45

@Pinkpather40
Thanks for the advice regarding sugar. I have been told that sugar leads to rapid inflammation and must be avoided.

Moodgie · 12/04/2020 12:54

@OneDayAtATime123 Does sugar include honey? I have been having lots, including manuka to try and ease the symptoms.

@WorriesomeDad Yes, it is so up and down, I’m not too bad at the moment, but didn’t get to sleep till after 3 and woke up with it too - it’s more like breathing through something, although it varies. It is so hard to actually explain. Worse when lying down - need to either be propped up or lie on my tummy.

Storyofcats · 12/04/2020 13:00

Hey @longshot That's nice..thankyou! I think I'm quite similar to you. Think I'm getting better but its v up and down. Am struggling to do most normal stuff still. If I try to stand or walk for any length of time I get really bad palpitations feel breathless and chest pain and bad sore throat starts again, also feel very faint so struggling to shower and stuff. Just so fatigued its unreal. Having a lot of buzzing in body particularly later on in the day and eating is really difficult as it triggers an episode of breathlessness which can last for hours. On the good side I've managed to sit outside for a bit last couple of days and had no night sweats for 3 nights! Have finished antibiotics now although chest still very tight and am wheezy so am still using double dose of my inhaler.
How are you today? X x
