Oh Boris no 🙁

OP posts:
KaronAVyrus · 07/04/2020 13:11

He doesn’t have to be a Russian troll to be talking out of his hole.

vera99 · 07/04/2020 13:12

No - he has posted it now on his website and some of the comments on his Facebook feed are obviously from people who know him and his family. In the first instance, yes I didn't do due diligence and I should have. But following comments here I have and I have no reason to doubt what he is saying about his families circumstances. His political; spin is, of course, his own.

Cailleach1 · 07/04/2020 13:13

The irony of the straw man pretence of medical staff being insulted being used to climb on a high horse to accuse others. Certainly when the completely opposite sentiment towards medical staff was expressed in that article. Fictitious or not.

Comefromaway · 07/04/2020 13:13

The only way someone like that would have been refused a ventilator would have been for clinical reasons eg something else was going on that would have meant the ventilator was pointless anyway.

vera99 · 07/04/2020 13:16

Anyway, this is being widely shared if it's bullshit then get working to discredit it, as it should be if it is lies. I will do some of my own sleuthing as it was I that shared it hastily in the first instance. I could even start a thread where it would better lie than here. But no I don't know it is bullshit and had I thought it was I wouldn't have posted.

Tonyaster · 07/04/2020 13:19

He could have a brother who died from coivd 19. Very sad. He could be eaten up with hatred of Boris and the Tory party - that's on him. His brother needing a ventilator and not getting one because there wasn't one- bullshit.

Shitsgettingcrazy · 07/04/2020 13:20

Theres only one reason post, clearly fake bollocks and try and present it as fact.

And it's because it suits their own narrative.

People need to be ashamed of themseleves spreading such bollocks as this.

SwerfandTurf · 07/04/2020 13:20

Then why are elderly people being denied hospital beds? Why is it all over the national press that my local hospital is running dangerously low on oxygen?

And no none of this comes from “random Facebook posts.” The situation in Watford has been covered by the BBC and all the national newspapers.

The information about elderly people being refused hospital care comes direct from an MP, social care minister Barbara Keeley. Here is just one article about it:

www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/greater-manchester-news/elderly-people-coronavirus-denied-hospital-18038252.amp

Obviously denying elderly people care is different from denying healthy young people care. But clearly decisions are being made to restrict treatment to certain people and not others.

toryandproud · 07/04/2020 13:21

I see the denizens of this cess pit are still talking bullshit (of which mumsnet is doing nothing to clear up)

joydivisionovengloves71 · 07/04/2020 13:21

Won't be long before someone from Nottingham contacts the hospital, terrified and asking whether they'll die if they get it 😕

alloutoffucks · 07/04/2020 13:21

You don't know if there was a ventilator or not.
I do know even before this crisis, that hospital was struggling to cope with emergency admissions.

Comefromaway · 07/04/2020 13:21

Some people, when faced with tragedy, have to find someone to blame. The Charlie Gard case shows that. This person, is obviously grieving and may find politicians easier to blame than doctors and nurses for the decision not to ventilate.

Tonyaster · 07/04/2020 13:22

What has any of that got to do with the fb post?

Tonyaster · 07/04/2020 13:23

That was to swerfandturf

Comefromaway · 07/04/2020 13:24

Denying elderly people care has always happened regardless of Covid. Its usually to do with quality of life versus invasive treatments.

Peregrina · 07/04/2020 13:25

There might have been good medical reasons not to ventilate, most of us won't know enough about it. I don't doubt that the staff are run off their feet and may not have had the normal time to sit down to explain to him why they weren't able to do this for his brother.

But this isn't about Boris Johnson, and we are not allowed to talk about the run down of the NHS on this thread.

alloutoffucks · 07/04/2020 13:25

Denying care on clinical grounds is different. That is not what is being alleged here.

vera99 · 07/04/2020 13:28

Here is a 54-year-old dying in Nottingham on the date he mentions.

www.nottinghampost.com/news/nottingham-news/2-more-patients-who-tested-4012665

ChipotleBlessing · 07/04/2020 13:29

Older people aren’t being offered ventilators because of very poor clinical outcomes for ventilation in that age group. There is also an anticipated shortage of ventilators around the peak. However, people in their 50s are not being denied ventilators due to a shortage. It’s unlikely we will EVER get to that stage. If there was no ventilation offered it will have been for clinical reasons.

Offredismysister · 07/04/2020 13:31

There is no shortage of ventilators at the QMC. There is an open letter from the chief exec that anyone can read, clearly stating there are 200 ventilators available as the hospital starting were due to start a replacement system this year.

SwerfandTurf · 07/04/2020 13:31

Tonyaster I don’t know what FB post you’re talking about, I haven’t seen any FB post.

My post was in response to the people insisting that all hospitals are well-resourced (how does that square with the oxygen situation at Watford?) and that no one is being denied treatment.

I’m not claiming to be a medical expert but if an MP and Shadow cabinet minister says people in a vulnerable category are being routinely denied care, and that it’s a major problem she’s concerned with, well sorry but I trust our MP more than some random anonymous poster online.

Tigger001 · 07/04/2020 13:34

I think he will be fine, they say hes is not on a ventilator and breathing independently.

Hopefully he will be out and sorted soon.

Tonyaster · 07/04/2020 13:34

But you are talking at cross purposes. Read the thread?

ChipotleBlessing · 07/04/2020 13:35

No one is saying hospitals are well resourced. But people who couldn’t go into Watford weren’t just being left to fend for themselves, they were diverted to other hospitals. Hospitals don’t have enough PPE and projections show that demand may well exceed ventilator capacity at the peak. But we’re not there yet. There are enough ventilators at the minute. Boris isn’t taking a bed from someone else who needs one. A man in his 50s was not refused a ventilator because they are in short supply.

NaturalBornWoman · 07/04/2020 13:37

Do you honestly believe that it would be in any way appropriate for most very elderly people already in care homes to be rushed into an acute care setting for invasive treatment given the outcomes for that category of patient?
