Oh Boris no 🙁

Yes of course it's elitist. So what?

Peregrina · 08/04/2020 20:27

The last scientist in charge here was Thatcher. Wonder how she'd have handled this?

Better, I think. When Sir John Houghton was in charge of the Met Office, the Hadley Centre for Climate Change was set up there. He praises her in his book for being helpful, and I am sure that this is because of her scientific background, although she was a chemist more than a meteorologist/physicist.

Tonyaster · 08/04/2020 21:09

But surely the PM should be advised by scientists, rather than having to be an actual scientist.

Abraid2 · 08/04/2020 21:16

Well, if we lose Raab and Sunak to CV—not impossible—the next in line is Patel.

I’m sure she’ll be just great.

Abraid2 · 08/04/2020 21:17

By lose I meant they just become ill, I should clarify.

Peregrina · 08/04/2020 21:38

You'd think so, but someone who doesn't know any science and prefers to talk piffle and waffle probably doesn't know what he doesn't know, and hence listened to Cummings. Even the scientists don't agree, because it's new, but they could have tried to distil what they thought was the best option from competing theories.

@ChipotleBlessing I thought the 'E' in PPE stood for equipment. Personal Protective Equipment. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Personal_protective_equipment

Or has the subject changed to economics?

starlightgazers · 11/04/2020 21:06

Boris Johnson is clever

Devious maybe, not sure about the clever.

ChipotleBlessing · 11/04/2020 21:19

@TealWater Grin different PPE. Read back.

Boris was so close to death, cabinet and friends prayed for him.

OP posts:
PicsInRed · 11/04/2020 22:10

And if those guys pray, you know it's bad.

Bathroom12345 · 11/04/2020 22:31

Quite Pics. I don’t know Boris at all but he seems to have touched a number of people who ended up rooting for him.

justasking111 · 11/04/2020 23:19

I think they would have prayed, this covid has been a great leveller, the last thing they would want just now is to upset the apple cart politics wise.

PicsInRed · 12/04/2020 10:59

He was meant to be in hospital 3 days earlier and was gravely ill when he finally attended.

Questions should really be asked as to why someone so obviously ill (and unlikely to be making good decisions due to illness and hypoxia) was allowed to make the decision for himself to remain home.

www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/article-8211031/HARRY-COLE-shares-dramatic-inside-story-Boris-Johnsons-coronavirus-battle.html

Carrie Symonds received the call from her fiance's doctors that she had been dreading.

Despite theoxygen treatment, she was told that Mr Johnson was not improving and the likelihood of him having to be put on a ventilator in intensive care was quickly growing. It was ominous news.

Anguished, yet prevented from being by his bed, Ms Symonds wrote her husband-to-be a love letter, attaching a scan of their unborn child.

I'm glad he's better but considering he was apparently 50/50 just a few days ago, I'm surprised at how well he looks in that video.

Lumene · 12/04/2020 16:48

I agree nutty. Not sure why they put it out - very odd message.

Either he was at death’s door and should be recovering - or he’s fine and should be back at work instead of watching tv in bed at his second home.

Lumene · 12/04/2020 16:48

But glad he is better of course and wish him well health wise

PicsInRed · 12/04/2020 17:04

I'm surprised at how well he looks in that video.

Me too, but there was some phlegm at the beginning of the message and a hint of the wide eyed look of his last Thurday clap which leads me to believe he's just one of these people who will doggedly stand until they fall - as he indeed did.

I can't imagine the professional pressure of being those nurses sitting at his bedside. Of course every patient get the same attention and the same treatment, but to know that the Prime Minster's life was in your hands, and during a national crisis, must have been something else.

Tonyaster · 12/04/2020 18:22

He's lost a good stone by the look of it.

PicsInRed · 12/04/2020 21:09

He's lost a good stone by the look of it.

No doubt Carrie will have him doing Joe Wicks each morning as part of rehab. 😂

Re: putting out the video so soon, he’s trying to be strong for us — he’s just that bullheaded type.

PicsInRed · 12/04/2020 21:38

Come on Bozza!!!
