Oh Boris no 🙁

OP posts:

Sorry justanother, didn't mean to sound quite so snarky, I suppose I'm just a bit surprised at some of the stuff I've read on this thread this evening!

ICU is ICU is ICU, whoever you are. Everyone gets the same care. There are no secret drugs. Johnson is in the safest hands and will be getting the best possible care.

However he is clearly seriously ill and, at the risk of being accused of hype, one has to accept that it might not be a good outcome for him.

OneOfTheGrundys · 06/04/2020 22:29

This is dreadful news. I can’t bear the man or his politics but I couldn’t wish this on anyone. On the simplest level, from one human to another, I hope he survives and recovers.

FortunesFavour · 06/04/2020 22:29

I’m so upset about this. COME ON BORIS MATE. Sending you strength and prayers x

Snowdown24 · 06/04/2020 22:29

I don’t think any important person, celebrity or well known person has been to ICU due to the virus yet? Maybe that’s why this is a double shock.

Tonyaster · 06/04/2020 22:30

I just don't get how Prince Charles gets away with a sniffle and Boris Johnson 20 years younger is in ICU

Is viral load an actual thing, because if so then Boris shaking hands in a hospital a few weeks ago probably exposed him to a lot of virus. I don't think PC has been out and about that much so perhaps was only exposed to a small amount of the virus?

Peregrina · 06/04/2020 22:31

If someone does pull through after being on a ventilator, how long is it on average before they make a full recovery?

I know that's a bit of a how long is a piece of string question, but with a lot of diseases which were once likely to be rapidly fatal, there is now a good chance of living quite a number of years.

Sosadandempty · 06/04/2020 22:31

Michael Rosen was in intensive care. He is back on a normal ward now apparently.

Snowdown24 · 06/04/2020 22:32

I wonder if that is something to do with it too, he has mixed a lot, so lots of the virus entering his system compared to PC

BornfreebutinCovidChains · 06/04/2020 22:32

Prince Charles, looks very ruddy though, I would have thought that'd indicate something?

♥? Blood pressure?..Prince Charles also I think only eats one meal at day?

I read corona is worse for diabetic? Sugar... Stuff like that... Pc only eating once a day will have low blood sugars?

Please don't attack me, I'm musing out loud...

NCTDN · 06/04/2020 22:33

Good news about Michael Rosen, let's hope it's the same for Boris.

alloutoffucks · 06/04/2020 22:33

Yes Prince Charles eats organic food, exercises, is a good weight, very health conscious, so I suspect has a strong immune system despite his age.

Tonyaster · 06/04/2020 22:34

Sosadandempty that's good news. I was wondering how he was.

PleasantVille · 06/04/2020 22:34

I just don't get how Prince Charles gets away with a sniffle and Boris Johnson 20 years younger is in ICU

Isn't it clear to everyone by now that the virus doesn't work that like? There's no one simple correlation with any factor, how do people not know that?

justanotherneighinparadise · 06/04/2020 22:36

@DuLANGDuLANGDuLANG

Thank you for sharing that video. Very very sad but actually made me feel better in some ways xx

Tonyaster · 06/04/2020 22:36

There's no one simple correlation with any factor, how do people not know that?

There will be some correlations though. The fact that deaths aren't evenly spread across age groups or sex show that the virus is more deadly for older men than older women for example

alloutoffucks · 06/04/2020 22:37

Yes Prince Charles looks ruddy, he is clearly not well, and may take a long while to fully recover. But there is no indication he has been anywhere near as ill as Boris clearly is.
The thing with corona virus is that really it is down to your body to fight it off. Oxygen, ventilators can be used to support your breathing and your body, but ultimately it is down to how strong your own body is.
Most of us these days in the west have no idea how strong our bodies would be to fight of a deadly infection without any treatment, as it is so rare for us to encounter them.

Scruffyoak · 06/04/2020 22:37

No one is safe. No age or anything. I have a really really horrible feeling over this and I hate it. Hope he perks up soon.

Inkpaperstars · 06/04/2020 22:38

Aside from the reasons not to go private mentioned upthread, the private hospitals in London are currently not doing private work. They are taking nhs cases, either non Covid urgent cases such as cancer surgery, or covid cases. Their private work has been suspended. Staff have been redeployed.

Do people really think that in the midst of this crisis there is a parallel health system operating still doing private stuff?

FreierFall · 06/04/2020 22:39

I'm so scared. If my elderly mum gets this she's fucked. C'mon Boris....Flowers

justanotherneighinparadise · 06/04/2020 22:39

Prince Charles has a genetic disposition to Rosaca so he always has a red complexion.

justanotherneighinparadise · 06/04/2020 22:39

*rosacea

Pomegranatemolasses · 06/04/2020 22:39

It can be just a matter of unlucky genes.

Pomegranatemolasses · 06/04/2020 22:40

Obviously referring to BJ, not Prince Charles' rosacea!

SomethingOnce · 06/04/2020 22:42

I’ve counted, I think, four helicopters going over my bit of south London in a very short space of time. It’s making me feel something is not good.

alloutoffucks · 06/04/2020 22:42

Some things are a clear risk with corona and make you more liable to be very ill and even die.
But as has been said on many threads here, people who are younger and fitter than Boris can also die.
No one is totally immune. Some people are at a higher risk, but even in low risk groups an individual can be unlucky.
