Oh Boris no 🙁

OP posts:
PinkSparkleUnicorns · 06/04/2020 21:47

@hopeishere how do you know? Sorry just finding this all crazy, I always thought he'd have private specialist healthcare as pm

Tennistime · 06/04/2020 21:47

Your country needs you Boris.

EightNineTen · 06/04/2020 21:48

On the bright side, there are still more people that come out of ICU than not

It's 50:50 with coronavirus.

starrynight19 · 06/04/2020 21:48

Those people who honestly believesL he has a special room with extra people standing round him and different care to anyone else must be deluded.
He is in icu just like any other person who is in need of critical care right now.
Some people on this thread really need to take a look at themselves. Am glad it’s in the minority.

PleasantVille · 06/04/2020 21:48

I imagine the pm is having private healthcare, not NHS?

Rather than imagining nonsense you could listen to every single news outlet and know that he's in St Thomas's NHS hospital

alloutoffucks · 06/04/2020 21:49

He is having NHS care. The private sector is not set up for this kind of care.
And if the worst happens it will not be anarchy.
It is important not to panic. Yes if he does die there will be a deep shock throughout the nation, but things will carry on. We have a Cabinet and a Deputy PM. The government will still do its job.

MoltoAgitato · 06/04/2020 21:49

@PinkSparkleUnicorns There isn’t private care for this which is anywhere near what NHS consultants or hospitals offer. Private hospitals simply can’t afford it, nor do they have the volumes to make it worth their while or keep staff experienced.

InvisibleToEveryone · 06/04/2020 21:50

Can I ask what would happen if he doesn't come through this?

PinkSparkleUnicorns · 06/04/2020 21:50

@starrynight19 but there is private healthcare. With reduced wait lists and other privileges. I'm just curious why this wouldn't be the case for Boris with coronavirus? I wish him well and want him better.

FannyCann · 06/04/2020 21:50

I feel so worried and sad for Boris and Carrie and his family.
Also concerned for the country.
Does anyone know how Chris Whitty is? Haven't heard an update on him for a while.

Praying for both and the country. Sad

Sosadandempty · 06/04/2020 21:51

Chris Witty is fine and was at the Downing St conference this PM.

professorbean · 06/04/2020 21:51

Chris Whitty was at the briefing today. He seems fine.

KeepWashingThoseHands · 06/04/2020 21:52

C'mon Boris, wishing you speedy recovery.

To all those idiot conspiracy theorists, this virus does not discriminate on social status, skin colour or anything else, other than the genetics of your immune system.

Private or NHS will not save you. There is no cure, same as there's no vaccine.

The best we can all do is #followtherules

Hope Star

Marieo · 06/04/2020 21:52

@PinkSparkleUnicorns he is at St Thomas' which is an NHS hospital. Yes, he could have afforded to or been entitled to go private, but he hasnt (can you imagine the backlash?).

EightNineTen · 06/04/2020 21:52

Stats for coronavirus compared to pneumonia.

Boris in ICU
PleasantVille · 06/04/2020 21:52

Does anyone know how Chris Whitty is? Haven't heard an update on him for a while

Is it only me who takes any notice of the news? Chris Witty did thpe 5pm press conference today, did he not let you know?

Genevieva · 06/04/2020 21:53

Emergency care is always NHS. The private sector is not set up for this sort of thing.

Private is lovely for elective surgery on a date of your choosing in a hospital with a private room if you can afford to pay for those luxuries, but the consultants treating you all work in the NHS too, so the actual operation is no different.

Stet · 06/04/2020 21:53

Private healthcare is not for stuff like this. It's not like paying to get your hip replaced six months before you would on the NHS. Private hospitals are not equipped for critical or emergency care for a new disease like this.

PinkSparkleUnicorns · 06/04/2020 21:54

Thanks to those who've answered my private health care questions kindly.

#bekind to those who have been rude. This really is bringing out such unnecessary ugliness in people.

Katie2017 · 06/04/2020 21:54

Doesn't the mother of some of his kids have cancer as well? They must be sick with worry my thoughts go out to them.

I'm very very sad and worried like I haven't been for a long time over someone famous I don't personally know. I will be so happy when he comes through this (please Boris!) I think one of the greatest happiness in life is when you've thought the worst about a situation and then it turns out ok, not as bad as you feared-that huge relief. I really hope we are there with Boris in a few days please please let that be the case.

Dickorydockwhatthe · 06/04/2020 21:54

God its a fucking night mare, Im dreading what news I will be waking up to in the morning 😔. I hope and pray he comes through, I've always had a soft spot Boris and have really missed him this week. I knew he didn't like well and he definitely needs to rest.

Eggcited · 06/04/2020 21:54

With reduced wait lists and other privileges. I'm just curious why this wouldn't be the case for Boris with coronavirus?

Even if there were, what good is a reduce wait list? He's already in ICU.

As for other privileges, there isn't anything the NHS aren't already offering. There isn't a magic treatment that can only be accessed by paying for it.

MrsJonesAndMe · 06/04/2020 21:54

@FannyCann Christ Whitty was back on the daily briefing today

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-52184158

professorbean · 06/04/2020 21:54

Pretty sure there is no "private" icu?! Correct me if I'm wrong.

Emergency care is emergency care.

Tuliptulip · 06/04/2020 21:54

Chris Witty is recovered and was in this evening’s briefing - at least some good news
