@Tonyaster 4000 humans have already died ..... this one is no more or less deserving

VivaLeBeaver · 06/04/2020 20:53

They will have moved him there because they’re expecting him to need ventilating sooner rather than later. People don’t tend to get a bed in icu unless needing organ support.

Im sure being PM he could have had “intensive nursing” without being moved to icu if he didn’t need the icu equipment. Ie, an intensive care trained nurse and doctor on a 1-1. They’re moving him because he needs equipment only available there.

BusterGonad · 06/04/2020 20:53

This has got a bit too real for me (not in the UK), I'm feeling like I want to get off of this ride now. I'm feeling ill rationally (sp?) sad and quite scared, until now I've been very level headed and now I'm not feeling quite so confident.

GreyGardens88 · 06/04/2020 20:53

I just don't get how Prince Charles gets away with a sniffle and Boris Johnson 20 years younger is in ICU. It seems so random

LilyMumsnet · 06/04/2020 20:53

Hi folks,

We have an awful lot of reports to get through (all relating to this thread).

We're locking it whilst we tidy things up - then we'll re-open (with a longer message, no doubt asking everyone to stick to talk guidelines).

Cremebrule · 06/04/2020 20:53

I also hope all the idiots that thought he was faking it are proud of themselves. It wouldn’t surprise me if he’s on a ventilator by the 10pm news. If he is in ICU for some time, I wonder if a government of national unity would be considered with Labour. I don’t think that could have happened under Corbyn but possibly could now. I hope there is better news in the morning. It is shocking to think about a world leader being so sick.

Threelionsandalioness · 06/04/2020 20:53

So awful for him and his family, come on bojo you got this old chap!

EightNineTen · 06/04/2020 20:54

He's the PM so he'll be receiving far better care than your average joes do.

There is no "better" care.

yoloPenguinsEatfish · 06/04/2020 20:54

I'm sure he'll be fine. He's in the best place, in hospital, every service available, and despite disliking him I wish him well.

However, he is a very fortunate man to be in this position; he's not like a poster on another thread who is trying to keep a care home running with serious staff shortages; he's not a nurse/paramedic/HCP/porter on the front line with no PPE. Or indeed like any of us who might be in a similar position and not have a ventilator on stand by.

PleasantVille · 06/04/2020 21:17

He's the PM so he'll be receiving far better care than your average joes do

How absolutely insulting to the staff of St thomas's @PipGirl404 to suggest that they having been giving 100% to all of there patients to date.

What a nasty post, you should be ashamed of implying anything of the sort

Zug2 · 06/04/2020 21:17

Gosh, hope it's not true, but news outlets in Russia are reporting he is on a ventilator. Praying it is not true.

esjee · 06/04/2020 21:20

@yoloPenguinsEatfish how is he 'very fortunate'? Having access to a ventilator doesn't mean he automatically recovers you realise.

BuffaloCauliflower · 06/04/2020 21:20

@PleasantVille agreed. Comments like that are more insulting to the doctors than anyone else

Stet · 06/04/2020 21:20

That was fake news from earlier int he day that Downing Street criticised (the Russian ventilator stuff).

Fearofawelshplanet · 06/04/2020 21:21

Really hope Boris pulls through.

BuffaloCauliflower · 06/04/2020 21:21

@GreyGardens88 bodies are different, immune systems are different.

Barbie222 · 06/04/2020 21:21

@Zug2 they were reporting that much earlier today, and it was denied by Downing Street but, who knows.

Bearbehind · 06/04/2020 21:21

Gosh, hope it's not true, but news outlets in Russia are reporting he is on a ventilator. Praying it is not true.

Why would Russian news agencies get such news before British ones?

Stop racing to report stuff you have no idea is true or not

LilyMumsnet · 06/04/2020 21:21

Hi all,

Thanks for your patience. We've been through the reports and deleted everything that we felt crossed the line... so now we're re-opening this with somewhat of a plea.

It's a scary time for everyone, and we know that it's easy to type something out and not really think about it, but can we bear in mind that we are all human - no matter how flawed?

We will not allow posts that appear to take delight in the situation being discussed. It's simply not what Mumsnet is about, and we think we're better than that. Nor will any personal attack be left to stand, regardless of the context behind it.

Please do re-read the guidelines, because if we continue having to make deletions, then this could result in a suspension. Or the thread could be lost in its entirety (if it starts to look too much like swiss cheese).

Rather than responding to a post that is causing you upset, please REPORT it to us. That's what we're here for! We can do the clearing up, otherwise it ends up as one big mess.

So to summarise...

Please follow the talk guidelines. Please use the report button and perhaps, most importantly, please remember that what we could all do with right now, is a little bit of peace and love. Flowers

PleasantVille · 06/04/2020 21:22

Gosh, hope it's not true, but news outlets in Russia are reporting he is on a ventilator

How would Russian news sources have true information that no UK news outlet has?

Originalyellowbelly · 06/04/2020 21:24

I hope he makes a full and speedy recovery, He's the first PM I've really liked. I'll be saying a prayer for him and all the other sufferers tonight.

Turin · 06/04/2020 21:24

Boris will be fine. He’s a trooper and he’s in great hands.

Eireni · 06/04/2020 21:25

Perhaps we should have designated thread that is just “wishing Boris well” and thoughts and prayers etc and other thread where people can discuss the wider situation in context with reference to the inherent politics involved without being called cunts.

PicsInRed · 06/04/2020 21:26

Thanks very much for the clean up MNHQ.

OP posts:
iVampire · 06/04/2020 21:27

There is no wider context to discuss, nominated deputy is clear.

He’s not dead yet
