@user34254356 yes still breathless feeling and lightheaded. Also have that feeling like something hard is stuck in the middle of my chest today which is a bit new. Hoping it’s nothing serious but makes me wonder if lungs are still having some issues on day 23!

Spacecadetagain · 08/04/2020 12:59

@WorriesomeDad yes I’ve had that most of the time .. if I lean forward it almost feels like pressure on my throat

user34254356 · 08/04/2020 13:03

@emichel02 v well described - i have the same feeling of something stuck in my chest. I have it more on activity and so it's probably my lungs telling me to go back to bed which is what i have been doing so far apart from a trip to the garden for fresh air. I am having the same thoughts if it's start of something else now with the lungs but hopefully it's the final push.

@Littleninja1 glad your GP is sending you the oximeter - hopefully that will give you reassurance. Did they say whether to assess at resting or through the day?

Tangledyarn · 08/04/2020 13:06

@user34254356 Still breathless and have chest pain but it's all less bad generally. It's been so up and down though, the weekend was awful, and then the last 3 days have been quite a bit better, I think it's just a very up and down recovery so dont fear, but I know its horrible, I was totally beside myself on Sunday, I couldnt get out of bed again..but I feel like I'm on the mend again now albeit very slowly and doing a lot of lying down still! X

EMichel102 · 08/04/2020 13:11

@Spacecadetagain @worriesomedad that’s so strange but so true! I just leaned forward and noticed the same pressure on my throat too! Never thought about it...

Standrewsschool · 08/04/2020 13:16

Day 24 (I think) - my throat has been dry in the last couple of days - new symptom. Also feel my sinus isn’t quite right, but apart from that feeling fine again.

Just spent an hour in the garden. Had to stop due to jelly legs. 2-3 weeks of lounging about has made me weak.

GidgetGirl · 08/04/2020 13:20

Day 18ish from first symptoms (low-grade fever and slightly fluey), and day 8ish from first minor cough/chest tightness.

I actually felt 90% normal for two or three days, but my fever came on again last night. Can’t believe it - I thought it was all over and done with! Just feel a bit fluey now. Not horrendous but the same low grade fever, headache, mild sore throat, cough and general feeling of ‘blah’ that started 18 days ago. I’ve had a much milder case than a lot of people on these threads, but it still seems to be going on forever.. So fed up.

EMichel102 · 08/04/2020 13:23

I’ve just had a case of the greenish diarrhoea someone mentioned the other day?! Sorry for the details :) Not on any antibiotics at the moment but taking Nexium and 2g vitamin C...either maybe caused it as a side effect? Did anyone figure it out?

WorriesomeDad · 08/04/2020 13:26

@user34254356 yeah, I’m in exactly the same boat as you on Day 21 ish.

MillStone · 08/04/2020 13:30

Hello everyone,

I’m new to this thread. i hope you’re recovering.

I have been ill for about 18 days now.

My symptoms came on very slowly for 4 days — Just a slight loss of breath for a few days, then a slight sore throat and then a deep feeling of illness.

My breathing really deteriorated alongside the new symptoms of heavey night sweats, back pain, tight chest, pounding heart, trembling breath and dizziness. Horrible as you all know.

Despite the fact I am constantly sweating from my arm pits and hands, the highest temp I have recorded is 37.1. I hover around the low 36s. I don’t have much of a cough either.

Yesterday was an effortless breathing day and I had a bit of energy. Today the tightness in my chest and breathlessness has returned with a the deep lethargy and I am consistently reaching for a sudden big breath.

Completed a course of Doxycycline yesterday but I’m suspicious I have a slight ear infection.

sleep has been such a struggle. I hope I can sleep tonight.

Thanks,

Standrewsschool · 08/04/2020 13:37

Oximeter has arrived. Could someone remind me what readings I should be looking for? Ie, safe/good readings and warning levels.

EMichel102 · 08/04/2020 13:42

@standrewsschool generally above 94% is good I’ve been told by doctors. You can also test it at rest vs physical activity too (eg stairs or toilet trip)

Littleninja1 · 08/04/2020 13:44

@MillStone you sound very similar to me. I had bad chills with sweating (I stank!) and it all began with breathlessness and chest tightness and fatigue. I skipped the cough and fever though have a cough now on day 24ish.
Have you seen the information about lying on your front? It really helps. They are lying patients in ICU on their stomachs for up to 16 hours a day. Also try raising your arms above your head, this creates more space for your lungs.

@user34254356 I'm going to have a video call with GP and the oximeter so will let you know what he requests and my results.

pinkoneblueone · 08/04/2020 13:50

Would the nebuliser thing also apply to steaming with a blanket over our head? In the same room as others?

pinkoneblueone · 08/04/2020 13:50

Good luck with your go video call

user34254356 · 08/04/2020 13:55

@emichel02 mine drops below 94% on physical activity. That's what my GP was concerned about that it shouldn't be dropping below 90% on physical activity - i never really checked it before as I assumed it was the resting one that counted. Getting worried now.

Meercatmama · 08/04/2020 13:55

Hi
Just having a moment of panic Husband in bed day 10 and on the breathing stage where his chest tightens He is complaining about the heaviness on his chest and the weird taste and smell. He is immune system is compromised through an arthritis drug which he has not taken for nearly 4 weeks. He is having episodes of feeling it is hard to breathe but v=can talk in sentences and still getting some fever which I have given him paracetamol for. I just feel I cant help him and so worried because it is day 10 and having been reading the media ( I know I should not) this is the day people get so much worse. he was up early this morning and moving around He says he feels very tired. My anxiety is in overdrive as I am so worried about him and I just want to cry. It is harder dealing with him having it than when I had it myself. I just don't know what to do. Sorry to off load here but I am trying to keep cheerful for him and my grown up kids when they call

Porcupineinwaiting · 08/04/2020 14:04

@Meercat it must be very worrying. I think lotd of people have very bad days around day 10 but not necessarily dangerous ones iyswim.

Just keep checking his temperature (it wants to be less than 38.5 even if it takes paracetamol to get it there,) and breathing. If he stops being able to talk in sentences call an ambulance.

Would also recommend he tries the lying on his front thing. It really helped me during the times I felt there was an elephant on my chest.

Other than that he needs to rest and drink. Rest and drink.

TheDrsWife46 · 08/04/2020 14:06

@Meercatmama @stayathomegardener posted a great video about caring for people at home if you can take a look at that. Its really reassured me that if DH becomes ill i’d feel more able to support him. The dr on there says its more important to take regular obs and look for trends. So do you have an oximeter? Thermometer? To check on his progress.

onlinelinda https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/hcp/clinical-guidance-management-patients.html#Sepsis this] is the source, and this is the quote I meant:

Atypical presentations have been described, and older adults and persons with medical comorbidities may have delayed presentation of fever and respiratory symptoms.

MillStone · 08/04/2020 14:08

@Littleninja1

Thanks I heard about the breathing exercises and laying on your front, but not for quite a few days in. As soon as I heard I started doing them on and off all days and I believe they really help

I haven't heard about raising the arms though. Is this in rest or whilst breathing?

Thanks

user34254356 · 08/04/2020 14:09

@Meercatmama that's very worrying. Are you able to check his sats with an oximeter? also might be worth calling 111?

WorriesomeDad · 08/04/2020 14:12

hey @meercatmama sorry to hear that. Have you got a pulse oximeter? If not have a google of the Roth test to get a rough idea of his oxygen saturation. Ignore the media, this illness is so varied, besides a lot of medical folks say it’s the end of the first week that is riskiest.

OneDayAtATime123 · 08/04/2020 14:14

@musicposy
Good Advice. I tried to do some cleaning and cooking on Day 13th and was completely wiped off with trembling hands. And to lie down for hours during the day.
REST IS NEEDED

Spacecadetagain · 08/04/2020 14:15

I’m seriously beginning to stress now that I’ve either been ill with a completely different virus and caught CV on top or I’m incredibly unlucky and have gone downhill after having it three weeks.. my temperature has been low grade fever on and off and I never felt particularly fluey yet now I’ve had a really high temp for two days and feel dreadful . I started taking doxycycline yesterday and my friend is saying I should be feeling better by now and wants me to ring an ambulance but I don’t feel I’ve given them enough time to kick in if it’s a secondary infection
