Flooffyy yes I'm alone most of the time. I was telling the others I live in an annexe connected to my parent's house. I tend to see them once a day when I pop down to steal some of their food but otherwise it's just me. I'm really grateful for skype right now and also to have lots of stuff to keep me busy as it is very tough. I'm finding the evenings pretty horrendous but it's just a case of getting through them. The busier you can keep, the better

Seed sowing - it's going to be a bumper year this year. I was sowing parsley, cosmos, sunflowers, tomatoes and basil today. I already have sweet peas, runner beans and cucumbers growing. I don't have a huge garden so it's all going to be very crammed in but that's the way I like it! I am trying to visualise myself harvesting everything and this time all being a bad memory. I am sowing extra sweet peas in particular so I can pick buckets of them.

OH’s hospital is under capacity by a fair bit, he’s working on COVID IT stuff now so he gets the daily updates from the trust

I chucked DPony out with her morning hay and she shared with her frenemy - she really doesn’t “do” sharing food (frenemy had his own pile, but hers was obviously tastier). They were practically eating the same strand of hay, it was lovely to see them in the sunshine

We made flapjack earlier, it’s so lovely and buttery ❤️ And we’ve just been to drop off scones and clotted cream to our friend who has MND. I took DD and we stood outside for a while chatting

We drove the long way there and back to spot rainbows. Not comvinced that delivering scones is an essential journey, but when someone is terminally ill, I guess it’s a bit different, as we get to check on her too

Might head out and check on the bluebells shortly. I’ve also got some wooden shapes for crafting, they arrived yesterday but I’m not feeling terribly inspired

StCharlotte · 16/04/2020 14:22

Ran out bread for lunchtime sangers. Made a chhese and tomato omelette for DH and me and it was alright (I hate the idea of omelettes for some reason). So I guess that's a positive?

gingerbreadslice · 16/04/2020 14:35

I went to sainsburys this morning had to que for 1.5 hours they gave out water whilst waiting but it was ok once in the store got everything I needed. Quite a gloomy day today not much sun out at all.
I do love a rainy day though I wouldn't mind a night of listening to the rain pelting down my window either I love that

StCharlotte · 16/04/2020 14:38

Ooh me too! It's the only reason I'm jealous of people with conservatories.

Orangeblossom78 · 16/04/2020 14:45

M&S here seems to have no queues. Maybe as in town and tricky to park not sure.

But it seems a good choice for the people looking for less queues. Expensive though. Giving out water! Shock

Orangeblossom78 · 16/04/2020 14:46

Oh for anyone who likes water here are a couple of things online you might like

rainymood.com

asoftmurmur.com

gingerbreadslice · 16/04/2020 14:56

@StCharlotte It's so relaxing isn't it! My Nan used to have this little caravan with a tin roof in Chichester, we used to go to every weekend and listening to thunderstorms at night was amazing.

gingerbreadslice · 16/04/2020 14:58

I was shocked as well at the water felt sorry for them having to do it, there was all types of people in the Que to did feel sorry for some of them you had people in mobility scooters, some very elderly people and a few kids. But you just had to wait
I even got a bottle of Dettol spray once inside I'm chuffed Grin

chrissieone · 16/04/2020 15:10

Oh my word Orangeblossom78 !

I just clicked on asoftmurmur.com and as soon as I clicked play, I physically felt my shoulders drop down, think they must have been up by my ears! Glorious, thank you.

Orangeblossom78 · 16/04/2020 16:06

I have the rain sounds on all the time when I'm online. It is relaxing I agree!

I have just ordered Marian Keyes latest novel onto the kindle, think that might be a good distraction. Going for a walk soon. Trying to avoid the ever present News

Orangeblossom78 · 16/04/2020 16:06

PS you can change the sounds on that one such as the fire crackling, waves and chimes by clicking on them

RosesandIris · 16/04/2020 16:22

I am loving softmurmur, thank you Orangeblossom

Arcadia · 16/04/2020 16:43

Oy you lot you've just made it rain here with all your talk, I just had to run and get my washing in! Grin

Orangeblossom78 · 16/04/2020 16:52

If it is all getting a bit much I recommend a daily nap with the rain sounds on, you can close the blind and pretend it is really raining :-)

Spudlet · 16/04/2020 17:27

Managed to get some flour today - the village pub’s landlady did a bulk order and divvied it up! And when I got back from collecting it with ddog, some neighbours had been over and dropped off some eggs from their hens. So planning some baking tomorrow, perhaps a nice fruitcake? And I picked up a brownie packet mix in the supermarket yesterday so DS and I might make that too. Feel lucky to be part of a little community like this one today. Hope you are all doing ok x

riotlady · 16/04/2020 18:00

Well jealous of your flour @Spudlet! We’ve still got a tiny bit left so I’ve been rationing it by mixing it with wholemeal. Makes things a bit chewy but at least we’re getting some fibre in xD

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 16/04/2020 18:15

I have just ordered 16kg of bread flour on the internet, but goodness knows when I shall get it: they don't say. One company is saying delivery on 11th May. I have been baking my own bread for years buying flour locally; not being able to get bread flour has been a bit of a curse, and I shall have run out very soon.

Now all I have to worry about is storage! I need an airtight dustbin, and I don't think they exist.

Alsohuman · 16/04/2020 18:35

Captain Tom’s up to £15 million! Just saw an interview with him that made me cry - in a good way.

Bunnyflop · 16/04/2020 18:37

@Pinkarsedfly we used to have one of those! It was awesome.

@riotlady we watched top gun the other night. That movie is a running joke in our house (doubt anyone could take it seriously but that’s the beauty of it Wink)

purpleme12 · 16/04/2020 18:37

I can't believe he's raised so much! It's just an astounding amount!

Bunnyflop · 16/04/2020 18:44

@millie2013 I loved hearing about your horse’s frenemy!

I love reading everyone’s updates.

Have had a very busy day today. Drove to pick up my stuff from the lane next to the garden centre, a load of trailing blue pansys, tons of lavender, alliums and verbena. Felt quite panicky driving there as I haven’t been far in weeks but played Abbey Road on the way home and it chilled me out a bit (that album is my comfort zone).

Did a mammoth amount of gardening, planting up hanging baskets and the borders. I’m knackered now! Did some home schooling (the school seem to think everyone is going to be doing a full school day- all the parents on our WhatsApp group disagree!) and went for a nice walk with ds. Have come to love the exercise for the first time in my life! Have also meditated for 27 days in a row now, feel great for having done so.

Few pics of my little fluff bundle above.

@Orangeblossom78 Thank you for sharing that I can never find one that sounds real if that makes sense Smile

UpOnDown · 16/04/2020 19:06

Can I join? Sounds like you've been having some lovely days Smile

Benji13 · 16/04/2020 19:31

I’ve worked at my laptop in the garden today which was really nice. Sun was beautiful here and makes us all feel better doesn’t it.
Our little rescue cat Willow is just loving life and is so funny. She adores our oldie dog Ben who is also enjoying the sunshine.

My 2 ds’s are getting so fed up really missing their girlfriends and pals but ploughing on.
Three more weeks and they both said fine we just have to do it.

I made a banana cake with overripe bananas and we will be trying that soon with a cuppa. Funny how suddenly we are so frugal and we realise how precious food is!
