How's that?

I’ve had a rubbish kind of day.

I’m okay in my little bubble, but I had to venture to Waitrose, and that’s when I
start to wobble. I just find it all so sad and stressful.

So I find myself buying too much (because I’m an emotional spender), and then eating rubbish (because I’m an emotional eater) and now I’ve just napped the afternoon away.

I suppose running out of money will solve the above problems eventually...

Easy tea tonight. Leftover chilli from last night (vegan and meat) made into loaded nachos. DH has lit the fire on the patio and I’m going to make a pitcher of Long Islamd Iced Tea.

Here’s to a better day tomorrow.

Bunnyflop · 07/04/2020 18:50

That sounds divine @GuyFawkesDay

Long Island ice tea in the garden sounds wonderful @pinkarsedfly I hope it makes you feel better.

Bunnyflop · 07/04/2020 19:00

Hugs @ Arcadia

Callybrid · 07/04/2020 19:07

Ah, Arcadia that sounds really tough. Hugs and a handhold from me...

One worry at a time, right?...

Your DH is really busy but he has you to look after him.

You have painful thoughts about losing your Dad resurfacing; give yourself time and kindness to let them be.

You’re worried about losing your job, but you haven’t lost it yet. Hang in there.

Feeling a little socially lost... just be kind to yourself; I’m sure as you start to feel better it will feel different and/or you’ll feel more like getting in touch with others.

Callybrid · 07/04/2020 19:10

@Pinkarsedfly - it was Waitrose that sent me spiralling today too! The lack of social distancing of some customers set me up to being all on edge, and then not finding peppermint tea and still no flour made me a bit rage-y and then I just did a kind of mad supermarket sweep because I wanted to get out of there so much!....

Arcadia · 07/04/2020 19:11

Thanks @Bunnyflop and @Callybrid, some wise words there.

Benji13 · 07/04/2020 19:24

Big hugs @Arcadia. I think everything is hugely magnified at the moment. Sending love. X

And here’s a piccy of my lovely old boy Ben with ragdoll Lily fast asleep on the bed next to me this afternoon as I worked at my laptop. They were very relaxed 💕

@Bunnyflop & @DianneWhatcock...Thank you. Smile..it's crazy but i stray on to the depressing threads, scare myself silly and come running back!! I tell you what else keeps happening and that's this thing called upday appearing on my phone. There's no way of stopping it as it isn't in my apps list. The last thing it said was that it said supermarket staff are now dying. It's always totally awful stuff it spouts. Does anyone know how to stop it?

Benji13 · 07/04/2020 19:26

I don’t know how to get that off @BooseysMom. But I have removed all my news apps off my phone as couldn’t deal with it.

ILoveGroot · 07/04/2020 19:35

I had upday notifications on my phone and found it under apps and was able to turn them off in settings Smile

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 07/04/2020 19:37

I think that "upday" is a virus.... Well, no, I know it isn't, but it might as well be.

You might be able to find instructions for how to remove it from your particular phone; I don't know what you have, but the first thing that came up when I googled "how to uninstall upday" was www.techadvisor.co.uk/how-to/mobile-phone/how-remove-upday-from-galaxy-s7-s7-edge-3638923/
and I'm sure there will be other advice for other devices.

Fopr instance forums.androidcentral.com/ask-question/748829-app-upday-news-samsung-doesnt-appear-my-app-list-so-how-can-i-delete.html

In the latter one, someone says "you may have removed the upday flipboard feature, however you still receive notifications you want to get rid of.
go to settings=> notification=> advanced => upper right, select "show system apps", then look for the upday app in the long list, press and then in the new screen disable the notification"

Might that help?

MinesaPinot · 07/04/2020 19:44

Handholds and virtual hugs to everyone who is having a wobble and feeling the strain at the moment. I said on another thread that I totally lost it this afternoon. Our Sky internet has been crap all day, both DH and I are trying to WFH and we both felt as if we were taking one step forward and about five steps back. The recorded message from Sky referred me back to the website or the app which I couldn't get on, and the call wait time was estimate at between 1 and 2 hours. I put the phone down, screamed something unmentionable and stomped off to the end of the garden to sulk. And DH was doing the ironing and managed to catch my new Zara top with the iron and ruin it - I haven't even worn it yet (he has got on the website and ordered me another one though so not all bad....)

Take each day as it comes - we will get through this, and we'll look back and remember and swear to god we will not eat as much chocolate and drink as much gin....or is that just me...??

BooseysMom · 07/04/2020 20:04

@Benji13, @Callybrid, @ILoveGroot,
@AskingQuestionsAllTheTime..

Thank you everyone. Yes it's def like a virus. It's so annoying the way it just appeared one day and there's nothing in my apps to switch the bloody thing off! I'll check the link provided thanks asking

Bunnyflop · 07/04/2020 20:14

@Benji13 I love how pets are totally blissfully unaware of what we are all dealing with! Your two look very happy indeed.

gingerbreadslice · 07/04/2020 20:25

Has anyone just given in today and opened up the wine? Wine bottoms up! Is that even the saying? Oh god

Pinkarsedfly · 07/04/2020 20:32

I’m drinking like a bloody fish, Pinot, it’s not just you.

I just don’t have the resolve not to. It’s taking every bit of self-discipline I have not to go screaming down the street with my hair on fire, so being strict with myself about my food and alcohol consumption is way off the agenda.

I’m just hoping things naturally even out as all this starts to feel less weird.

Arcadia · 07/04/2020 20:32

@Benji13 thanks I relaxed instantly just looking at that!

Arcadia · 07/04/2020 21:30

@MinesaPinot I know what you mean - working from home can be frustrating anyway, that would have pushed me over the edge too!
Funny moment today when I was on phone to IT support guy and my daughter launched into a loud Taylor Swift medley with her cousins in the next room - these surreal moments we're having! Grin

Arcadia · 07/04/2020 21:31

Over FaceTime

SchadenfreudePersonified · 07/04/2020 21:40

Should be called the scaremongering drama queen thread

I agree Dianne.

God alone knows, no-one is a bigger hypochondriac than me, but it's almost "I fell downstairs and now my arm has extra corners on it. Is this coronavirus?" level.

Bunnyflop · 07/04/2020 22:34

All this has majorly triggered off my hand washing OCD. I am terrified that if I open a pack of something and give one to ds that the delivery driver might have had Coronavirus then touched the packet and then I’ve touched the packet and then touched ds food etc. I must have washed my hands 150 times today 😩

Blerg · 07/04/2020 23:26

Hi everyone, so grateful for this thread. I read each night before bed.

Sorry to everyone having a wobble. I’m up and down here. It’s a crazy time, be gentle with yourselves.

I found this from Aha Parenting helpful. It’s about dealing with emotions in this situation - but useful in general, not just in relation to parenting: www.ahaparenting.com/blog/how-to-calm-corona-pandemic-lockdown

PrivateSpidey · 08/04/2020 00:28

Blerg I love Aha Parenting, it always has sensible advice. Will have a look at that link.

Flowers for everyone on this thread. Hope everyone is hanging in there.

Today I've Skyped my parents, chatted with a friend and had a nicer than I thought it would be dinner (Bolognese type sauce with gnocchi).

I was also playing Words with Friends on my iPad and my DS joined in and absolutely loved it for some reason - he said it was so much better than Scrabble Grin Hmm I mean, it just is Scrabble, which he usually refuses to play!

I also just finished watching The King's Speech on Netflix, fantastic film with some of my favourite "modern day" actors Smile

Did anyone see the Pink Supermoon? It was a bit too cloudy here.

RosesandIris · 08/04/2020 05:57

@Bunnyflop
I’ve PMd you.
