Just that.

I've googled and found nothing.

Hope he's ok

He strikes me as a lovely, normal man, suddenly thrust into the limelight and now facing this awful illness.

Wishing you a speedy recovery Chris Whitty.

Chris Whitty is a great scientist and a lovely bloke. Hope he gets well soon.

Patrick Vallance is also a great scientist and a decent chap.

Thing is, they give the advice to Government. They can't make them take it. How to source stuff is a DH/NHS responsibility, not CMO.

Rosehip10 · 02/04/2020 19:55

The radio 4 profile of Chris witty was really interesting - advise people to have a listen - should still be on iplayer?

Fev11 · 02/04/2020 20:02

Chris Whitty is such a decent man and intelligent medic. I could listen to him all day.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if the post-Covid world saw the death of celeb culture and a renaissance of integrity and scientific endeavour.

The80sweregreat · 02/04/2020 20:09

I've read his wiki page and he sounds brilliant.
His dad was murdered when he was a teenager.
He seems so reassuring and obviously very very clever.

EmpressMcSchnozzle · 02/04/2020 20:10

I heard that Radio 4 piece as well and thought it was excellent. Hope he's back soon to dispense some much needed calm and common sense.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if the post-Covid world saw the death of celeb culture and a renaissance of integrity and scientific endeavour.

It really would. I'm so tired of seeing talentless irritating 'celebs' popping up everywhere. I'm sufficiently long in the tooth to remember when people (mostly) actually needed to be accomplished or talented in some way or other before anyone considered them a celebrity. I miss those days.

I feel saddened to read Chris Whitty's been trolled. I suppose there will always be nasty people about, but it's so depressingly shallow when people are picked on due to their looks.

WhiteChocTwix · 02/04/2020 20:15

@Rosehip10 yes! I listened to it while making dinner. It was really interesting. I enjoyed the story about him getting the best house with the boat when he was working abroad.👍 Fair play. I feel sad ppl are trolling him for his looks. Most of us are not classically good looking but once you know someone who they are makes them attractive. I hope he can weather all the politics to help get our lives back to normal asap.

PapsofJura · 02/04/2020 20:17

I have found that he is clear and concise in his communication even when it has been a very difficult message. I do hope he’s back doing what he does best.

WoollyMollyMonkey · 02/04/2020 20:20

In that advert they keep showing on tv (Seems like every 5 minutes) he looks quite scarey! But in his picture on Twitter he looks lovely!

EricaNernie · 02/04/2020 20:22

I am also very impressed by him, I Heart him also

Rosehip10 · 02/04/2020 20:24

People laughing about his appearance on social media are just immature idiots and rude

a.) He just looks like a normal man in his 50s, would you really notice/comment if you saw him in shop/pub? Do people think all Drs are like TV ER types?

b.) You can bet your life if any Dr who was looking after you, "how we looks" would be the last thing on your mind if you are sick or injured!

Angry
Rosehip10 · 02/04/2020 20:29

@WhiteChocTwix Yes, made me laugh when the colleague clarified about the "yacht club" - "chris had a dinghy"!

EricaNernie · 02/04/2020 20:33

frighteningly, to me, he is 6 months younger than me Shock

Mummyoflittledragon · 02/04/2020 20:35

I was also wondering the same when I stumbled on this thread. I hope he will be ok.

Redpriestandmozart · 02/04/2020 21:12

I have found my people, nobody understands the love I have for this man. I wish he could read the admiration we have here for him. He brings sanity amongst the chaos, did I say I love this man?

Lookingforwardtomyeastereggs · 02/04/2020 21:14

I've become a bit of a Chris Whitt's fan too. I'm hoping that he's ok.

Skeeter2020 · 02/04/2020 21:15

Great man

EricaNernie · 02/04/2020 21:24

From that first video on the corona virus threads, he had my attention. he speaks so well

EricaNernie · 02/04/2020 21:25

very angry and disappointed with joe public/social media making fun of him so cruelly.

Oblomov20 · 02/04/2020 21:26

He's fabulous. Along with Jennie, those 2 are utterly professional, with reassuring voices.

EricaNernie · 02/04/2020 21:27

it was 6 days ago he went into isolation, according to his twitter, so hopefully back soon

TallRachel · 02/04/2020 21:29

Lovely man.

Inkpaperstars · 02/04/2020 22:43

Thanks for recommending the radio 4 profile, it was interesting. I love the casual mention that he works all hours but has also done a diploma in economics, an Mba and a law degree 'in his spare time' Grin

PickAChew · 02/04/2020 22:49

Some people would troll Mother Teresa if they got the chance.

To be fair, she is pretty troll worthy. Not the Saint we would want to believe.

WishMyNameWasWittyNotShitty · 02/04/2020 22:53

I was hoping that they may have acknowledged him in one of the press conferences since he became unwell. I hope he does have someone looking after him and is on the mend.
