I’ve had my daughter prosthetic leg appointment cancelled until further notice. I understand that there are more urgent appointments but I’m still really still really upset that her leg is now hurting and she won’t be able to walk soon.

We’re doing a FaceTime appointment with a consultant. Booked last year.

TravellingSpoon · 02/04/2020 09:46

DS was due to see a specialist regarding his bowel issues, buy that has been cancelled, so have his phlebotomy appointments and his next paed appointment which was due to take place at school.

We have been told to just keep using prescribed laxatives at the moment, ut its worrying as he is still swinging between constipation and awful diarrhoea and it seems there is no middle ground.

TinyPaws · 02/04/2020 09:50

My antenatal class was cancelled. I can completely understand why and would have thought about withdrawing anyway had it not been cancelled but I'm pretty bummed as it was the only class my partner could actually make due to work commitments.

Cornettoninja · 02/04/2020 09:51

DP had a hypertension crisis a couple of weeks ago and ended up in the back of an ambulance. He’s seen the cardiologist since but all other investigations have been postponed.

I’ve got muchausens by proxy about him now, he’s either got CV, sepsis or is about to have a stroke according to my f’d up thought process at the moment. He actually asked me to stop looking at him like it was the last time I was going to see him the other day GrinConfused

NemophilistRebel · 02/04/2020 09:52

@TinyPaws my ante natal classes went online? They are run by the hospital so totally free and most hospitals are doing them

ForTheLoveOfSleep · 02/04/2020 09:59

My 4.5 year old DD is at a social/verbal/emotional age of around 12-18 months. Has hyper-mobility and Ehlers Danlos Syndrome.

We had been on the wait lists for OT and an ASD assessment for almost 12 months and finally received appoints for both in April and May. Both now cancelled.

SALT - cancelled
PT - cancelled

Also, not medical, but ECHP review to include special needs school admission in September on hold.

Historyofeverything1 · 02/04/2020 10:01

Ds was going to have several procedures in June after his gcses I've been fighting to put them off so he had a chance of being in school as his education has been massively disrupted. Hes immuno compromised and prior to procedure we have to alter some of his other treatment which would make him even more vulnerable so it won't be happening for a while.
I've had my surgery cancelled been waiting 30+ weeks all the scans/ tests I had before will need to be redone prior as well. The surgery will be life changing and not sure for better or worse until they get in there.
I'm sorry for all that are also in these positions it's hard to know it's indefinite at the moment I'm sure it would help a lot of people to be given a date in the future (I know that's impossible). I would imagine that it's effecting many people mentally.

Caucasianchalkcircles · 02/04/2020 10:03

Ct cardiac angiogram. Should have been on tuesday. No forthcoming appointment with cardiologist so feel like I'm in limbo.

Kelsoooo · 02/04/2020 10:08

DH had had his tooth extraction cancelled - a wisdom tooth is lying horizontally and growing into his back molars, it's infected, stinks and he's in pain. Been this way for 10 weeks so fuck knows how long it'll take now.

DD has suddenly lost 90% of her hearing. Previous she had perfect hearing, no infection, nothing...and over night almost, she lost it. Can't even get a referral now. Saw the doc 8 weeks ago who said it was blocked, we took her private to have it cleaned, no improvement. Receptionist forgot to process our request for the discussed referral to ENT.... So now we need to wait until we get back into doc for s referral to a private ENT doc. Cause even prior to this, it was a 12 month waiting list on ENT.

224as · 02/04/2020 10:09

@GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal I have the same issue! I need to try and ring the docs to find out if I can have another form of contraception and have the coil removed at a later date.

However this is very very minor indeed, lots of very sad posts on this thread Sad.

MigginsMrs · 02/04/2020 10:10

My smear and my dad’s chemo.

Not very happy at all to be honest, is no one meant to get medical treatment or get ill from anything else whilst the virus is around? How many more deaths will result from these decisions than from the virus itself.

OatcakeCravings · 02/04/2020 10:18

Biopsy for a growth in my cervix, found at recent smear appointment that they couldn’t do because of said growth. Hoping it’s nothing serious now.

nothingcanhurtmewithmyeyesshut · 02/04/2020 10:27

Physiotherapy and psychotherapy. I've been up 2 nights running in agony with my back, nothing helps it when it starts up like this. Weekly massage and acupuncture help it but cant have those. Cant see my counsellor either so struggling with my mental health. Just hoping the lockdown is lifted soon.

TwistyHair · 02/04/2020 10:29

@ Elouera Thanks. I feel so sorry for her. She’s only a toddler so I can’t explain it to her. And I don’t want her getting negative associations with her prosthesis.

So many of the other messages on her are really sad. I hadn’t realised the impact on so many people and their families.

I think you mean you're a hypochondriac?

Muchausens by proxy is where you actually deliberately make the other person ill to get attention and medical tests/diagnosis. So in this case you would be secretly drugging or poisoning him to produce these symptoms.

user5656 · 02/04/2020 10:45

Just a routine mammogram for me so far.
There's going to be such a backlog of work for them to get through☹️

thesunisoutout · 02/04/2020 10:48

What worries me is that people think that appointments will probably start again after the lockdown. I don't think they will. Lockdown has bought us time to get everything cancelled and everyone redeployed ready for the long period of wave suppression. The hospitals will continue to be full of corona patients for a really long time, potentially more when people start going back to work and school. Infection in hospital will still be really high. A lot of procedures are prohibited until corona has gone because of the transmission risk etc. I'm being redeployed for 6-12 months so can't see any of my own patients until then. Also got to factor in all the staff sickness throughout the period that needs covering. I don't think we'll be allowed to resume normal NHS service until a vaccine is in place. I really hope I'm wrong but I feel like that's what management has been preparing us for.

TooMuchBloodyChoice · 02/04/2020 10:48

DH - 2 surgeries (both very important and would make a big physical difference to health) and three outpatient clinics. Isolating for 12 weeks and no idea due to back log when these will now be done.

However, he has been treated a lot by the NHS. We are hugely grateful for it, and feel for all the staff working in incredibly difficult circumstances at the moment. It's such a tough predicament for all people with health conditions at the moment.

Flowers for you all

FuckThisWind · 02/04/2020 10:49

Oh Gosh Flowers to all of you.

I've had physio and podiatry put on hold (osteoarthritis) but I was sent for blood testso Tuesday at hospital which I was surprised about. I was the only person in Pathology. This was to check my kidneys wee ok after having BP meds doubled. I'm also still having asthma appts as mine has become very unstable recently. Next appt tomorrow, albeit is now over the phone, but I've kept a peak flow diary so GP will know what's what.

Thankfully my Mum's cancer surgery went ahead on Monday and she has been in Critical care ever since. It's still relatively 'quiet' up here in the North East Covid wise, so I feel we just managed to get Mum sorted in the nick of time - having said that, she still has about a week in hospital recovery wise. But she will be transferred to a 'clean' hospital once she is out of Critical care.

FloofenHoofen · 02/04/2020 10:50

Ultrasound scan.

Stella8686 · 02/04/2020 10:52

My daughters hernia operation and it was hurting her yesterday too 😞

Sirzy · 02/04/2020 10:53

I am expecting at least 6 months before they start to pick up the things that have been cancelled now so by the time things do get moving waiting lists are going to be out of control. It’s going to be a whole new nightmare for the NHS to deal with and I can see a lot of people slipping though the bet along the way

90bisodol · 02/04/2020 11:00

A few cancellations here.
My smear due next month, got the letter a couple of weeks ago but my surgery are not booking them for the foreseeable future.
In January I was diagnosed with De Quervain's tenosynovitis and had started physiotherapy for it, which has been cancelled completely and I've just been advised to do the exercises myself.
And my DH is under an opthalmology clinic at the hospital as a routine eye test found a small growth behind his eye, he was put on to regular check ups for it as there is a high incidence of cancer in his family.
None of these things absolutely vital, but nonetheless worrying that they've been shelved.

TwistyHair · 02/04/2020 11:04

God the cancer ones are terrifying.

@ thesunisoutout can you say what department you normally work in?
