I’ve had my daughter prosthetic leg appointment cancelled until further notice. I understand that there are more urgent appointments but I’m still really still really upset that her leg is now hurting and she won’t be able to walk soon.

Son has had his Rheumatology clinic appointment, regular blood test and all physio cancelled.

HaudYerWheeshtYaWeeBellend · 02/04/2020 15:46

My kidney scan has been postponed... my kidneys are bleeding and not functioning as they should since just Christmas I’ve even on 13 antibiotics (4 different types) I’m bleeding clots from my kidneys and bright red blood.

@Tulipstulips I'm an NHS Director so whilst not front line, I'm crazy busy. I felt terribly sorry for the nurse who called me to apologise, particularly as I was already two weeks overdue. There was nothing she could do sadly, and I couldn't push her on the issue.

I agree with everyone else though, there's a lot of bigger issues out there. I just have to try and rest, but working full time with two kids at home is proving rather difficult. I'd much rather the nurses time however be spent treating those who really need it, rather than me who's simply drained.

TwistyHair · 02/04/2020 18:12

The fertility ones are sad too. Must be hard to cope with if they’ve been cancelled. I kind of thought that they’d have still been running

Also it might be worth pointing out to them that the RCGP’s guidelines during CoViD19 recommend continuing B12 injections if they have staff a capacity to do this.

Yes and recommend that self-administration is an option

Namechangervaver · 02/04/2020 18:16

@Cornettoninja is his BP under control now?

newtb · 02/04/2020 18:22

Ophthalmogist
Psychiatrist

Tulipstulips · 02/04/2020 18:51

@elizabethrose I get neurologic symptoms of B12 deficiency and of course it can have very severe irreversible effects of untreated long enough so I consider the injections to be a pretty good use of the nurse’s time, as does the RCGP. It’s not just a case of feeling ‘drained’ for lots of people, it’s a case of being able to function safely. Obviously if they don’t have capacity, that’s unavoidable, but then they could consider asking people if they feel comfortable self-injecting, as in fact my surgery has suggested.

Cornettoninja · 02/04/2020 18:53

@Namechangervaver - seems to be. He’s on a couple of pills and we’ve got a blood pressure monitor which he’s taking three times a day. He’s had a telephone consultation with the GP who seemed happy with his readings so far.

Tbh it’s weight related. He stopped playing rugby years ago but never really adjusted his diet and is now just obese. He’ll get a good inspection if his heart and kidneys once things can operate again so I think this is the best we can hope for right now.

Thanks for asking Cake

LilacTree1 · 02/04/2020 18:53

Some of these things are vital IMHO.

I’m so sorry to you all Flowers

My endocrinologist appointment. I have macroprolactinoma and is giving me a lot of bad headaches.

Also waiting for a hystercopy appointment but I don't an appointment will be arriving anytime soon.

ilovecherries · 02/04/2020 19:19

Smear, mammogram and bowel screening, all due in April. Revision of surgery I had last year, as its causing me quite a lot of pain - that was booked for later this month. Annual MRI (as part of a genetic screening programme). Blood tests (ditto). Husband has had X-rays and physio cancelled. Daughter routine blood tests and scans. I dread to think what actually happens if you get a non-coved related illness at the moment.

elizabethrose · 02/04/2020 23:04

@Tulipstulips I get terribly fatigued but thankfully (at the moment) that is my only symptom. If I really start to suffer I will obviously have to ring them back. I just felt sorry for the nurse, she was so so apologetic and just said she was following guidance. I know she was feeling guilty as she cancelled me two weeks before due to illness, so I didn't want to make her feel crappy. But I can certainly quote your guidance if I need to, so thank you.

idontgetpaidenoughforthis · 02/04/2020 23:10

Referral to gastroenterologist for severe chronic abdominal pain has been cancelled until further notice and sleep apnea check postponed indefinitely 😕

SnoozyLou · 02/04/2020 23:14

Dental check up cancelled, and my next midwife's appointment will be by phone instead of face to face. I'm relieved if anything. Sorry about your daughter's fitting though OP.

Hopefully this is clickable. Interesting article which reflects what many HCPs are feeling about this issue.

Kazzyhoward · 02/04/2020 23:23

oh had cancer treatment cancelled - no explanation, no details about if and when it will go ahead, left high and dry!

catfeets · 02/04/2020 23:32

I've had my 6wk after birth checkup cancelled - as we are both still struggling and have been ill, I was desperate for that appointment. We've been riddled with various infections and left to struggle with little or no treatment. The checks listed were very important to both our health. We can't get the 8wk jabs for my baby either.

I've also had my first physio appointment cancelled (nhs caused me various issues during the birth and a complaint finally prompted an appointment to try to sort it out).
Also cancelled was a long awaited appointment with a spinal consultant I'd waited almost a year to see.

AlwaysAllegra · 02/04/2020 23:33

@bagelsandbrie please do not put your daughter on stations especially so young. I have high familial cholesterol even though I'm slim and healthy, I took allicin garlic tablets 1 a day for 2 months and for the 1st time in 10years my cholesterol is healthy. Statins are a lifelong commitment, please try this first.

Op my smear was cancelled :(

moolady1977 · 02/04/2020 23:46

My DD has had dental appointment cancelled as well as one for a scan to check her kidneys ,my oh mum had her cateract op cancelled and his dad had his cancer check to see how far it's spread cancelled ,my DF had his COPD check up cancelled as well as asthma check up , my ds2 had his ADHD appointment cancelled so no tablets to help him sleep he is climbing the walls and I had my speech therapy cancelled we were also going to be sorting out a request for another camera procedure to see if there was a reason the speech therapy plus strict diet wasn't working and why my lips were going blue and I was breathless (vocal cord construction and silent reflux ?)

lemonjam · 02/04/2020 23:48

Overdue a smear.

I need fillings, 2 appointments have been cancelled for various reasons and obviously it’ll be a long while now. My baby will be one in the summer so will have missed free treatment by the time it’s done.

Dh’s vasectomy, which we’ve been waiting ages for.

victorioussponges · 02/04/2020 23:51

An endoscopy to get to the bottom of chronic abdominal pain. I was referred a couple of months ago and just never heard back...guessing I might have to just start again when this is all over because I can't imagine how they'll pick up where they left off.

WellAintThatAShitbiscuit · 03/04/2020 00:04

My partner had triple heart bypass 8 weeks ago and has had all follow up appointments cancelled (post op check up, consultant clinic and cardiac rehab) I'm so scared that no ones checked his recovery/healing since he left hospital.

Hugs to all those who are in a similar situation themselves or with there loved ones.

MiniMum97 · 03/04/2020 00:19

This thread is terrifying. Especially that article @EffieIsATrinket I think the message here is don't get ill with anything not Covid 19 in the next 6-12 months or you are on your own!

chinateapot · 03/04/2020 00:24

First follow up scan for child who has just finished chemo.
Plus a couple of other appointments
