New thread for us

OP posts:
Elllicam · 03/04/2020 19:43

@KinderWild that’s good to know about the secondary infections. I definitely had all of the symptoms of tonsillitis plus the covid symptoms. Plus the antibiotics seem to be clearing the tonsillitis symptoms.

KinderWild · 03/04/2020 19:44

Thanks @SchrodingersKitty, @AnythingPecan that's helpful to know. Did anything help with it? And do you think it effected your breathing at all? Mine isn't at the moment but I will likely worry about this the closer it gets to bedtime.

Sambucus · 03/04/2020 19:45

Sorry that you’re joining us (prolonged fever group) @user34254356. It’s grim, isn’t it?! I suppose the fact that there are several of us is reassuring in a way, but I’m not finding it easy to keep a lid on the anxiety about the uncertainty. I take great comfort from hearing about those that have recovered, we too will get there....

AnythingPecan · 03/04/2020 19:46

@KinderWild It does affect the breathing, because when I am able to burp out the pressure, the breathing improves. It's almost like GERD.

Fairygodmotherplease · 03/04/2020 19:46

Feeling really scared tonight, having a moment. Just sitting down watching TV and having to work to breathe. Why is It still like this? There's no hope of an end. I'm a single parent and have no one to talk to and tell me it will be okay.

simplekindoflife · 03/04/2020 19:49

So pleased and relieved to find this thread!!

I have such bad chest pain and breathlessness but no fever and a very mild cough. All the official Nhs channels seem to be focussing on just the fever and bad cough with no mention of dealing with the chest pain at home.

I'm on around day 7 and my chest feels worse than ever. It's scaring me Sad

TheWooisStrong · 03/04/2020 19:50

@Fairygodmotherplease tight handhold here. I'm feeling the same, just so stressed and worried. I just want to be well again (as do we all I guess)
It will be OK in the end. And if it's not OK it's not the end.

AnythingPecan · 03/04/2020 19:52

Thanks I found the link!
Just going to re-post the video that a poster sent a link to yesterday if anybody's interested.

About the Roth test which clinicians are using to estimate oxygen saturation levels when triaging patients.

EMichel102 · 03/04/2020 19:52

@Fairygodmotherplease don’t worry you can always check in on this group. To be honest, no one else really understands the feeling of symptoms than we do probably! Well maybe the paramedics and 111 GPs!

stayathomegardener · 03/04/2020 19:54

Day 23.
Yesterday evening was awful again, breathless, burning lungs and upper back and chest pain. Oximeter around 95. Really concerned about secondary infection.

Absolutely lost the plot and tried to hit it with everything I could think of as an experiment, so far I've:

Consumed no sugar/carbs, starve the fucker.

Rested in the sun
Tried some deep lung breathing and chest draining every hour.
Sweated it out in the sauna,
30g vitamin c. Fun!
Vitamin d and zinc
Lots of fluids
Inhaled iodine more regularly
Chinese herbs.

So right now I feel ok, face flushing occasionally and a tiny bit of chest burning that to be honest wouldn't be even on my radar in normal times.

Be very interesting to see what tonight and tomorrow bring.

Will try and keep this up.

Standrewsschool · 03/04/2020 19:56

@fairygodmotherplease - welcome to our band of merry men (or women). We seem a unique group of people who are suffering common symptoms, but different to the official list of symptoms.

AnythingPecan · 03/04/2020 20:00

For those with lumpy throats - I just tried a warm salt water gargle - that appears to have calmed it down a bit. Worth a try!

KinderWild · 03/04/2020 20:03

Yes @AnythingPecan it does feel like GERD. I wonder if an antacid would help. I will see if I can do the gargling. TY

AnythingPecan · 03/04/2020 20:05

@KinderWild I'm taking omaprazole daily. And gaviscon when needed. Was helping until yesterday. But then I probably ate something that triggered the GERD symptoms

stayathomegardener · 03/04/2020 20:07

Attempting a link for the lung draining video, do hope it works.Very interesting that he says most of ones lung capacity is in the upper back.

EMichel102 · 03/04/2020 20:07

Who else is not looking forward to heart palpitations tonight?! That’s one of the worst night time symptoms for me...

Casino218 · 03/04/2020 20:10

Has anyone checked their blood sugars when they feel these palpitations. I have a theory that it's not the heart but blood sugar levels?

KinderWild · 03/04/2020 20:13

That's really interesting @Casino218. Too low, or high?

KinderWild · 03/04/2020 20:15

@stayathomegardener I have been trying that technique. I think it has made some difference.

EMichel102 · 03/04/2020 20:16

@Casino218 interesting theory! Not sure but I’ve just eaten a big meal an hour ago and I’m already getting some noticeable palpitations. My blood sugar shouldn’t be low already? It’s strange because the heart beats arent really unusually fast, just really strong / pronounced.

TheWooisStrong · 03/04/2020 20:19

Going with my nightly remedy and having a whiskey.
I think a large part of my symptoms are down to stress.

user8910 · 03/04/2020 20:23

We are day 8 here

DH has had it worse (so far)
D1-D3sore throat cough
D4 Fever (39.1c) hacking dry cough
D5 fever at night (38.1) cough breathless
D6 fever at night, cough breathless dizzy
D7-8 same and increasing tired

Me (started on his day 5)
D1 mild cough fever headache (38.9c)
D2 cough breathless headache no fever
D3 cough feel breathless no fever thankfully

DD (4) Yesterday had a fever (38.5) briefly otherwise fine

Other child unaffected so far.

Hate the constant feeling of anxiety over the cause and if it's the virus if we will get worse.

longshot · 03/04/2020 20:25

@stayathomegardener thanks for that video. I am going to do that now. My lungs feel mostly ok but I have pain / tightness in my upper back which perhaps is still my lungs. I slept a couple of times on my front In the last few days and remember feeling much better on those days when I woke so perhaps there’s something in that.

I’m opting for a bath and a glass of wine tonight rather than the ibuprofen but will take some tomorrow if I need to. It will be my first drink in three weeks so not sure whether it will be good or bad but at least I feel like I want one!

longshot · 03/04/2020 20:27

@EMichel102 Day 24 my heart beats are the same, not especially fast just pronounced, I only notice them in bed now at night. I have also noticed I get them at certain times of the month during normal timed. Not sure if there’s any link here! They’ve bothered me less recently as they just seem to come and go!

tupperwaretowers · 03/04/2020 20:27

@TheWooisStrong sounds like a plan. I might join you. #idontevenlikewhiskey
