Day 7 here and still got a fever (just measured 39.8). Still no other symptoms apart from having the cold sweats/shaky legs thing last night. I'm actually getting a bit worried about the lack of symptoms: maybe my immune system isn't doing very much? Have read that shortness of breath can present 8-10 days in, so also getting nervous about that. I'm 53 and asthmatic.

user34254356 · 03/04/2020 11:32

just to add I also have heart burn this morning. If this couldn't get any crazier. I almost wonder if i am reading people's symptoms on mumsnet and imagining them !! As yesterday a lot of posters reported heartburn.

Roma2020 · 03/04/2020 11:33

These are really very useful threads to get an understanding of what is happening to others- there is so little genuine/helpful information out there - it is reassuring to know that others are going through the same thing and I am not alone. My fluctuating disease course has been as follows:

Day #1 Diarrhoea, nausea, gut pains.
#2 same
#3 nausea
#4 slight nausea
#5 nausea, slight tightness in chest
#6 Increasing tightness in chest (no burning feeling) then severe muscle and joint pain, headache, pounding heart, really scary shortness of breath, no fever (36.5) , no cough.
#7 pain in muscles shortness of breath no fever, no cough, no sense of smell strange metallic taste in mouth,
#8 breathlessness subsides, feeling wobbly, then high heart rate and breathlessness returns,
#8 wobbly, breathlessness

9 washed out but feeling better, less breathlessness,

10 breathlessness returns, nausea, diarrhoea

#11 breathlessness, wobbly, nausea, diarrhoea
#12 feeling a bit better, some breathlessness, nausea,
#13 breathlessness, nausea, diarrhoea
#14 feeling better, no diarrhoea, no breathlessness (Thinking might be over this)
#15 diarrhoea returns!, no nausea, no breathlessness

16 diarrhoea, nausea, slight breathlessness- slight burning feeling behind sternum (thought indigestion)

#17 breathlessness gone, no diarrhoea, very mild nausea,
#18 burning feeling in lungs when lie down or take deep breath, impossible to get to sleep, that feeling goes in morning but replaced with "normal" Covid breathlessness but better than last week. Diarrhoea!! Nausea.

It has been a rollercoaster ride - just when you think you might be through it it comes back to haunt you. Which can be quite heartbreaking. All in all the worst two weeks of my life - and very very frightening. Throughout I have had hardly any cough and no fever (never more that 37 degrees) - the main sign that precedes everything is the diarrhoea and nausea.

However the periods of breathlessness seem to be getting slowly less severe and further apart and same for the diarrhoea and nausea - feeling a bit stronger - if quite tired. Hopefully will get through this within next few days.

@smoooth is not the fever your immune system doing something? That's very hot btw, is it responding to paracetamol?

A colleague of mine was sick for 9 days with fever being her only symptom. Obviously she doesnt know what she's had but she's one of 3 from the same office who has been off sick for 2-3 weeks in March and the other 2 of us have more "typical" symptoms so strong possibility we've all got/had it.

user34254356 · 03/04/2020 11:38

@casino218 that's great that you are pretty much over it. I recall you had fever/feverish feeling up till late in the recovery. Did it just disappear one fine day?

Roma2020 · 03/04/2020 11:40

The burning lung/heartburn thing very real - I came onto this site after spoke to GP about it and they mentioned the Mumsnet thread about it!

Storyofcats · 03/04/2020 11:42

@musicposy Predictable crochet and cat lover Grin

Casino218 · 03/04/2020 11:45

@user34254356 yes temp went up 37.3 on day 21 I think then was down the following day. It may be due to the inflammation of the cartilage in chest- costochondritis- not sure

Casino218 · 03/04/2020 11:45

Needsomegoodnews · 03/04/2020 11:45

@EMichel102 I’m 42, no other health issues. Under other circumstances it seems there might be some investigation but instead we’ve got to just deal with it and the not knowing where it’s going, with no chance of help unless you can’t breathe. I’m feeling a bit low with it too @user34254356 but it really helps to know others here are in a similar situation. I don’t know anyone else who even has it!

Elllicam · 03/04/2020 11:48

I’m feeling so down this morning, I was feeling a lot better yesterday evening only to have a really breathless night and morning. I’m feeling so guilty about not going back to work tonight, I’m a nurse. I haven’t even made it downstairs though. I keep trying to get someone to test me.

Elllicam · 03/04/2020 11:49

I’m 99% sure it’s coronavirus though, I’ve never even had a chest infection before and I’ve never been breathless. It would be nice to have confirmation.

smoooth · 03/04/2020 11:51

@Porcupineinwaiting thanks for the reply, I feel a bit better hearing about your colleague! From what I've gleaned from John Campbell's videos, the gland(?) that sets the body's temperature raises it so the immune system can work better on the virus. I've not taken paracetamol as I don't want to interfere with this system!

mymoonmyman2020 · 03/04/2020 11:52

Hi all, updating day 12 here for me - a lot better but did too much (kind of had to as had kids on my own while DH WFH) and now back in bed and breathless again :(
No worse but frustrated to have it come back again. Still, generally improving day by day so have to try and stay positive.
Thinking of everyone still having a rough time of it Flowers

Porcupineinwaiting · 03/04/2020 11:55

@smoooth ok but dont let it get too high. I was told that a temp over 40 that does not respond to paracetamol was a reason to call for medical assistance.

Needsomegoodnews · 03/04/2020 11:56

@Roma2020 interested to see your timeline - this is day 18 since first fever and diarrhoea and that’s been an on off symptom for me throughout, returning yesterday after a few days without and haven’t seen many others having late phase stomach upset. Just want it gone as it’s so scary.

@Elllicam the up and down of symptoms is so depressing and I keep trying not to get hopes up as it keeps knocking me back. Also not tested but the breathlessness is like nothing I’ve ever known.

smoooth · 03/04/2020 12:00

@Porcupineinwaiting thank you very much for the advice: I shall take paracetamol if it goes over 40.

KinderWild · 03/04/2020 12:02

Morning- ish. Thinking of everyone still experiencing this shit of a virus. Flowers

I am on day 38 ish. And hoping I am getting close to getting rid of this. My lung issues seem to have got better, I am coughing up some mucus. The last week has been all about chest pain, and this morning that seems a little better. I was really genuinely scared it was my heart. I do now seem to have swollen glands around my throat and under my chin. I had mumps last year and its feeling a lot like the start of that Confused

KinderWild · 03/04/2020 12:03

@Elllicam sorry you're feeling down, and please don't feel guilty about not going back to work. You need to get better. yourself. Hoping that you can get a test. x

musicposy · 03/04/2020 12:06

OK so doctor just phoned - not from our surgery but a GP hub. She said it could be secondary bacterial but phone 111 and they aren’t dealing with it. She said any new infection advice is phone 111 and GP should have told me that. But it’s not new it’s 24 days!
Not sure whether to bother or sit it out now.

Springquartet · 03/04/2020 12:06

Is anyone else ravenously hungry? I went from having zero appetite to being very hungry indeed (I am on about day 16). I have to sleep with a packet of rich tea by my bed, as I wake up hungry in the night. The odd thing is that all this eating isn't leading to a release in energy, as I am still really fatigued.

Storyofcats · 03/04/2020 12:08

@Roma2020 Yes 111 also said to ne it was being commonly reported.

I'm also nhs and feeling v guilty and uspet about not being in work and can't see how I'll be back next week.. cant even spend more than an hour out of bed at the moment.

musicposy · 03/04/2020 12:09

Left feeling it’s hopeless and nobody cares at all unless you can’t breathe. I’ve never had a situation like this where just no one wants to deal with it. She told me off for having an oximeter when I said my oxygen was fine and said why have you got one? Well because you lot aren’t offering any help! No wonder so many people are getting so bad with this.

Fairygodmotherplease · 03/04/2020 12:09

@EMichel102
Day 22. Woke up with a gunky throat (not new) and furry tongue.
Had heartburn the last 2 nights.
For the first time, I've had times where I feel completely normal. But then the dizziness/breathlessness/palpitations kick in again for a while.
Sleeping isn't smooth yet, I wake up multiple times a night still and have problems with falling asleep.
My nose/sinuses continue to feel inflamed although no pain, sneezing or actual blockage has happened. Every time I blow my nose, I get a little blood which isn't normal for me.
I'm hoping to turn a corner soon.

SchrodingersKitty · 03/04/2020 12:11

Checking back in on what I think is day 23 (a good sign that I'm losing track). I hesitate to tempt fate, but I think I'm better. A whole day yesterday with no breathing issues, though am still coughing periodically. It's now quite chesty, but clears when I cough and feels more familiar. I'm 55 and asthmatic if that gives other people hope.

All sorts of other anxieties bleeding in at the moment. Fighting with hospital admin to try and find out when they are going to see DH (71) for an MRI (long history, earlier in the threads, but he is being investigated for a brain lesion found 7 months ago and still unidentified, and is now having headaches which I really hope are the remnants of this virus). Arguing with my elderly parents (80s, issues that make them vulnerable) because despite having stocked up enough groceries to survive a nuclear war, my dad keeps insisting on going back to the supermarket when they run out of milk. I stayed up very late trying to get them a Tesco delivery slot and researching every farm shop within range of them that does deliveries. They still have excuses about why none of those things will work . . . Also frantically trying to catch up with all the work I missed when I was ill.

I suppose the fact that I have energy to think about all of this is a sign that I am feeling better, though, so there is that.
