New thread for us

OP posts:
UncomfortableBadger · 03/04/2020 07:15

@KatySun Yes, I spoke to 111 and then an out of hours doctor a few days ago but they couldn’t offer much support as my breathing looked ok to them.

Just vomited again Sad

KatySun · 03/04/2020 07:26

Oh uncomfortablebadger I am sorry, it is rubbish not being able to access proper medical care. You probably know this already but you need to drink lots of water, especially if you are throwing up. I have found warm water better and easier to drink. If it is getting worse, you could call them back, I think.
I hope you feel better soon, this virus is dreadful.

lightlypoached · 03/04/2020 07:33

Trying to work out if I've had it or not.

Started mid feb feeling lousy, but no fever. Bit of a cough, very sore throat and painful ear, loss of voice. Saw dr on day 6 who said it was viral laryngitis, that I didn't have a fever, and as I hadn't been anywhere or in contact with anyone from Wuhan it was just a plain old virus. That was the guidance at the time, so I carried on working and travel about (I work in central london). Felt grim on and off and spent a few days in bed sleeping. Working intermittently. Still no fever but very clammy, very tired and intermittent coughing. Awful eye infection so bad both my eyes were completely red. That lasted a fortnight.

After 5 weeks felt a bit better so did some gardening then started with excruciating right sided rib pain, physio said muscle strain after raking and lack of exercise over the previous month (I'm normally very active) . That died down but seems to have come back again. The pain is so bad I have diazepam to treat the spasms.

So no breathlessness, no fever , not much coughing but all of that over 7 weeks and I'm still not feeling tip top. Do you think I've had it?

lightlypoached · 03/04/2020 07:48

@baroqueandblue

I've just posted - not sure if I've had the virus but have been pretty poorly. One of my symptoms is very sharp right sided rib pain t8/9 area where the ribs join the spine. Yes to the crying out in pain with spasms. Couldn't even lift my arm at one point. I had emergency physio and diazepam from the dr for the spasms. Physio thought it was a raking injury (!) as I'd managed to get out in the garden for a few hours in week 5. The pain went (mostly ) and now is back a week later, even though I've done no exercise or anything obvious to trigger it.

My colleague has the same but no other illness.

If it's not the virus, there is some weird shit out there right now.

Lougle · 03/04/2020 08:03

@fuggyfush agreed, but a temperature of 37°c will never be considered a fever. I do understand what you're saying, though. I always run cold so even 37.2° is high for me. But I still don't have a fever at 37.2°. I just feel hot.

@TheDrsWife46 I get that completely and I'm not saying that your symptoms aren't valid, quite the opposite. I had this conversation with DH a few weeks ago. He had a cold, very unlike him, and felt feverish. I took his temperature and it was 37.1°c. He was disappointed and felt like a fraud. I reassured him that he doesn't have to have a fever to feel feverish. The symptoms are real, even if the objective temperature isn't high. But, I do think there can be issues with saying that your temperature is high/ up/'mild fever' with a temperature in normal range.

It's a horrible time.

Gogoberry · 03/04/2020 08:30

Still can’t work today. Tried to get out of bed and promptly threw up. Have spoke to my boss and they seem very unhappy. Now have the stress of losing my job as well as whatever this virus is. Sad

Porcupineinwaiting · 03/04/2020 08:42

@Gogoberry please just rest and concentrate on getting better. By the time this is done quite a few of their employees are going to have had this and had a week or two off (I am the 3rd person to go down at ours), you may find their attitude changes. And any company that lays people off for getting sick during a pandemic is likely to get very bad publicity after it.

user34254356 · 03/04/2020 08:48

@fuggyfush omg i am so sorry that you are still suffering 45 days on. Are you able to carry on with your daily activities now? Do you take anything to bring down your nightly fevers?

Sorry the thread has moved on too fast that I haven't been able to respond to everything but will write more later.

It's Day 17 here - yesterday i have low grade fever all day but in the evening felt back to normal carrying out my usual activities: preparing dinner and clearing up. This morning again feeling breathless and woken up with achey limbs and hot arms and feet. Feel like fever will
come on again.

@Tangledyarn @emichel hopefully you will have better starts. I noticed some people were up
all night with racy heart beats and focus moving to heart rather than the oxygen saturation. Anyone plan to speak to GP today about it?

@longshot sounds like you are nearly recovered and if fills me with positivity !!

EMichel102 · 03/04/2020 08:52

@Fairygodmotherplease @mumlurker how are you both doing today? I think you’re a day or two ahead of me (day 18 for me) and wondered if your breathlessness/dizzy and heart palpitations episodes died down? Overnight and now this am I feel like I’ve regressed Again since feeling slightly better yesterday (heart palpitations, breathlessness, dizzy).

FatimaLovesBread · 03/04/2020 08:55

@findingschools4myboys I've had a few nocturnal panic attacks where I just wake up in the panic and everything seems wrong and not real anymore. I've been sleeping on the sofa for over a week so at least I have the tv for distraction

EMichel102 · 03/04/2020 08:59

@user34254356 I also was feeling pretty good yesterday with some progress (considering my previous state) and now after a night of some panic wake ups and not the best sleep I’m back to square one of exhaustion/ breathless/heart palpitations. Hoping it’ll clear throughout the day a bit but frustrating isn’t it?! Clearly not a linear improvement!

Pishposhpashy · 03/04/2020 09:04

Really worried my mum has it to be honest. She's been feeling under the weather, achy with a gunky throat for the past 2 days. No fever yet. She's mid 50s. So worried about her.

Sambucus · 03/04/2020 09:07

@EMichel102. I am also day 18 and still getting intermittent palpitations and fever (37.8), not necessarily at the same time. Overall I think they are less constant but still varying from day to day and some days worse than others. Like you it seems to be one better day followed by more symptoms. I’m mostly in bed and confined to the bedroom so doing very little physically. I’m trying to take the ‘long view’ for my sanity and focusing on eating better after the shock of weighing myself yesterday and finding I’d lost more than 10% of my weight. I hope you’ll be feeling better soon.

findingschools4myboys · 03/04/2020 09:08

@FatimaLovesBread
They are scary! Couple of weeks ago I was also having to fall asleep to the tv as I just couldn’t settle. Have to say that really helps.
@EMichel102
That’s exactly how I feel today. My non sleeping panic night has set me back again this morning. And now I know I am extra anxious and jittery because I am so tired.

I think I need to do a media ban again.

mumlurker · 03/04/2020 09:15

Morning @EMichel102

Yes day 22 here, feels like a milestone as I move into week 4...sorry you're still feeling crap!

The day before last was my worst because my breathing was so bad, breathing was pretty laboured and felt very sick yesterday morning but passed by lunchtime and was left with only a mild fever. However I woke up in the night with a fever and burning lungs (though not as bad as it has been) and feeling breathless/headachey this morning. Definitely don't feel out of the woods yet. I do feel less dizzy though, and my heart isn't racing as much.

Do you wind your symptoms wax and wane throughout the day? I'm finding the days where they hit me in the morning or afternoon easier to handle, because if they ease off by evening I find it easier to get some sleep without getting too anxious.

Someone up thread mentioned sitting by an open window to help with breathlessness - I've found when my breathlessness is mild, this soothes me a bit. I'm also trying to stay completely still as much as possible today so as not to exacerbate it.

Today I just feel so fed up, it's sort of filled me with a determination to beat this...

Needsomegoodnews · 03/04/2020 09:21

Seems like I’m in a similar stage to @EMichel102 and @user34254356 at day 18. Days 15 and 16 felt like major improvement, just a bit of head and eye pressure and up and about, but yesterday stomach upset again, dizzy and lightheaded and overnight the damn pounding heart is back, keeping me awake, after about 4 days without. I’m not sure if it’s anxiety because the upset stomach is back after a week or still a genuine symptom. I’m worried about everything giving up when it’s gone on so long even though logic tells me that’s silly! I can see others are still having symptoms beyond this time too but with gradual improvements @tangledyarn, @Storyofcats

@Casino218, @Porcupineinwaiting and @longshot - are you pretty much through it, do you think?

Lovelesslily · 03/04/2020 09:21

Day 13 here and fever is back again :( Had a terrible night with it and still there now.
I only really had a fever for days 4 and 5 so it's been a while! I know it's my body fighting (possibly fighting off my secondary kidney infection as well) but it feels such a set back.

Also when I did manage to doze off had horrible vivid dreams. In one I was electrocuted and jerked awake heart racing and sweating :(
Just so fed up of feeling so ill.

Wishing all a good day.

Porcupineinwaiting · 03/04/2020 09:29

@Needsomegoodnews no (ever the optimist me) but I do feel I am recovering now, whereas before I was just getting worse and worse. Slept really well last night for the first time in 2 weeks, feel fine today but I can still feel it in me iyswim. Current pattern is good day/bad day, when my bad days disappear, then I'll be over it.

findingschools4myboys · 03/04/2020 09:30

@Lovelesslily
Sorry you also had a bad night. I am day 23 and had a bad night. Lots of anxiety.
I also had exact same as you, very very vivid dreams (have had that throughout to be honest) but last night had a dream where something heavy was suddenly dropped onto my face so I woke up with a jerk with heart going crazy too.

tupperwaretowers · 03/04/2020 09:30

Anyone else wonder if it is all in their head??

The doctor thought the pain between my shoulder blades was musculoskeletal. That anything else was anxiety.

If I’m realistic, my ‘fever’ isn’t actually a fever, it’s within normal range up to 37.3. I’ve had the odd face flush.

Yes I’ve had a sore throat for 3 weeks and a furry tongue. In the early days I had random stabbing pains in my chest/back but they seem to have subsided.

But now, my only issues really are the jittery feelings and constant worrying that I’m never going to feel right again.

Is this just anxiety getting the better of me??

MangoesAreMyFavourite · 03/04/2020 09:32

Day 5 here (with at least a week's preamble of sore throat) - no fever, feeling much better but the fatigue!!! If I walk to the next room, I get a flutter in my chest and need to lie back down I am so tired.
What does the lack of fever mean? The virus (if it was that) has gone or is just regrouping?

Have a restful day all!!

MangoesAreMyFavourite · 03/04/2020 09:35

tupperwaretowers your symptoms sound similar to me. I just a fever for a day and a half but sore throat for a while now. Are you fatigued too?
I found gargling with hot salt water really helped the fur ball in my throat go down.

tupperwaretowers · 03/04/2020 09:42

Yes I was wiped out for the first 2 weeks. Feeling not as tired now, if I’m honest about it I was always good for a nana nap at the best of times.

Crayfishforyou · 03/04/2020 09:42

Dd(7) has woken up saying it's hard to breathe, her breathing is all 'scrunchy'. She's white as a sheet but is happy enough playing on her iPad. I've explained its THE virus and she will be able to breathe again properly in a few days. She has no fever and is sat near an open window. I'm refusing to panic around her.
Day 6ish for me. I've woken up full of what feels like a cold. Congestion feeling headache, neckache and bunged up nose. The he
DH felt a lot better today but has had an upset stomach overnight and his cough has returned.
I'm going to try and get my baby plants in in case I hit a downward slope as others have in the 7-10 day mark, and I want fresh peas and leeks and strawberries to look forward too.

tupperwaretowers · 03/04/2020 09:52

I’ll try the salt water gargle again.

I’m not sure that my jitters are not partially attributed to the vast amount of time I’m on my phone/tablet scrolling, far, far more than is healthy.

Challenge today is to reduce tech time and refocus myself.
