I think my tastebuds returned after a week to ten days. The nausea feeling I had disappeared then also. I brought the more expensive squash so I had something nicer to drink. (Pear and elderflower).

stayathomegardener · 02/04/2020 21:12

Really not happy, having fevers, numb face, back pain and oximeter all over the place tonight. Feels like such a setback on day 22.

GrapefruitsAreNotTheOnlyFruit · 02/04/2020 21:15

@Casino218 private Harley street clinic. Someone linked it a couple of pages back. I have seen negative stories about it in the Times because it isn't actually on Harley Street and they were selling the original covid testing kits at a huge mark up over the supplier randox laboratories. That said I don't think anyone has suggested they were selling fake tests.

stayathomegardener · 02/04/2020 21:15

@FatimaLovesBread I'm not sure that can be the case re chest pains as I have all the lung issues but not coughed once.

hollytom · 02/04/2020 21:16

@FatimaLovesBread that’s interesting what your GP said. Just finished my antibiotics today so hoping the pain will subside

GrapefruitsAreNotTheOnlyFruit · 02/04/2020 21:16

@12stayathomegardener make sure your fingers are really warm before you use the oximeter.

Porcupineinwaiting · 02/04/2020 21:17

Went downstairs and joined the family this evening for the first time in two weeks. V morale boosting, I may not be recovered yet but I am recovering. Was lovely to see the kids but not smothering them in hugs and kisses just yet.

And now to sleep, and wishing all here a good night. X

littlemixarerubbish · 02/04/2020 21:20

It hasn't hit our household yet so I hope it's ok for me to come on here and ask a question. I'm a keyworker and some of my colleagues have come down with it so I suspect it's just going to be a matter of time Sad

How many of you have completely self-isolated from your families once your symptoms started? We've got a loft with a bathroom so it's possible to do here, but I don't get the impression that everyone is doing that?

littlemixarerubbish · 02/04/2020 21:20

(From both reading posts on here and hearing about experiences IRL)

FatimaLovesBread · 02/04/2020 21:23

Which bit isn't the case @stayathomegardener

I've had other chest pains too. The rib pain/strain is quite different to the other pains I've had.

She did say rib pain seems to be quite a common symptom though. I've assumed its strained from coughing. But my left side is fine. I think she did say the virus could just cause inflammation

stayathomegardener · 02/04/2020 21:27

Sorry @FatimaLovesBread that makes sense.

Top tip @GrapefruitsAreNotTheOnlyFruit with a warm finger I definitely seem more alive Blush

Standrewsschool · 02/04/2020 21:28

I didn’t shut myself away completely. I wasn’t missing out on takeaway pizza to celebrate my son’s birthday. We took the view that I was probably infectious before knowing I had it, so the chances are had already spread any germs. We self-isolated as a household though, so all our germs stayed within the confines of the house.

Apart from a couple of woodland walks, haven’t been put and actually feel nervous about going out and facing germs external to this house.

FatimaLovesBread · 02/04/2020 21:33

@littlemixarerubbish I have self isolated away from family at all really. Mainly because I started with it 8th/9th March and for a while thought it was flu as CV still "wasn't in the community" then all the advice suddenly changed. On day 8th that's when my GP and 111 decided it was CV, by which point I'd been mixing with family and both my parents and MIL had been helping sort school runs etc as I was too poorly. That was when the self isolate for family members advice came in too so DH and DC isolated from day 8-14

hollytom · 02/04/2020 21:36

I self isolated as my DH is diabetic.

fuggyfush · 02/04/2020 21:36

I might be the longest ill person here? I am still not 100% 45 days in...

I was in the alps (virus hotspot already in February) and went down with what I now think might have been coronavirus. I have very mild asthma. Does this sound familiar to others?

Day 1 - Feeling well but people commented on me having got a red face. Skin on limbs itchy.

Day 2 - Woke with really bad sore throat, fever (38 - 39) developed in afternoon, fluey type aches of limbs and joints, really tired. Loss of appetite. A little hoarse. Rigours and chills. Later my heart rate when up to 140-170 beats per minute. This lasted all through the night and I was genuinely scared.

Day 3 - DH half dragged/half carried me to resort medic, I collapsed on arrival. Respiratory rate 25+, heart rate still 140+, concerning ECG. Ambulanced to valley hospital. Got checked for everything, flu swab was -ve, but strep identified in throat. ECG looked ok. Heart rate still too high. Fever 38. Nausea, stomach ache, stomach felt bloated. Kidneys a little tender. Slight dry cough. Ribs painful and skin around ribs was hypersensitive if someone touched me. Swollen neck glands. Exhausted. Dehydrated. Tested for everything under the sun except covid. Chest x-ray clear. Doctors confused by heart rate, ECG and exhaustion. Given ABs. Later discharged as blood pressure stayed stable and hospital overrun with ski injuries.

Days 4,5,6 - very weak and exhausted, sore ribs, minor dry cough, feverish, no appetite, sore throat. Tachcardia (high heart rate continues). Flew back to UK (cleared by resort doc)

Days 7,8,9,10,11,12 - very weak, no appetite, throat improving, tachycardia, slight dry cough as though clearing a hair caught in throat. Went to see GP for follow up tests, nearly collapsed on short walk there and looked ill enough the GP saw me as soon as I arrived. Test results showed mild ongoing infection.

Days 13-25 - tired, heart rate coming down but still >100. Nightly mild fever daily. Then a further ECG showed heart rate dipping too low, then shortly after had tachycardia again. Post-viral heart issue? Manage a day of work but spend next few days in bed crashed out.

Days 25 - 45 - still tired, slight sore throat, heart rate still >100. Nightly mild temp with chills. Never goes much above 37.8, but I'm usually a cool 36 and feel feverish with anything over about 37.2. By about Day 32 was getting some energy again and felt more alive. Meanwhile DC have been down with dry cough and breathlessness. Have been referred to cardiologist but advised to wait until corona under control.

Does this sound familiar? I read some papers on SARS (closely related) and quite a lot of patients had inexplicable tachycardia and then post-SARS tachycardia even at a month or more follow up.

GrapefruitsAreNotTheOnlyFruit · 02/04/2020 21:36

@stayathomegardener apparently oximeters can't give a reading which is too high but they can read too low if your hands are cold.

fuggyfush · 02/04/2020 21:39

Sorry that was so long, yikes!

GrapefruitsAreNotTheOnlyFruit · 02/04/2020 21:43

@fuggyfush that sounds awful. You have had a low grade fever for 45 days and still no one has tested you for covid! What about medicines? Any suggestions you should take anti virals of some type?

ofwarren · 02/04/2020 21:45

@littlemixarerubbish
Me and my 4 year old showed symptoms at the same time. We isolated from the rest of our house as we have 2 bathrooms.
Husband and 5 year old lived downstairs and us two upstairs for 9 days

FatimaLovesBread · 02/04/2020 21:45

Blimey @fuggyfush that sounds awful

hollieberrie · 02/04/2020 21:46

@fuggyfush you poor thing. Could you possibly do the private test? I think in your position i would be tempted, if its an option.

middleager · 02/04/2020 21:48

I'm potentially on day two. The heart rate observations are worrying as mine is regularly over 100 to begin with.

My son was in Italy skiing at half term. Two weeks ago he had fever, headache, sickness.
We SI for 14 days and I thought I was out the woods

Day 1 (yesterday)
Temperature 38, throat like razor blades, headache and weirdly Phlegm

Day 2 (today)
High temperature, Phlegm, no headache, slight ache round kidneys, very dehydrated.

I'm scared at what's ahead.

So sorry some of you are more than a month!

TheWooisStrong · 02/04/2020 21:50

Horrible new symptom, achey in my ribs at the back on the left. Well below shoulder blade.
Not entirely sure what is there to ache, I’m also hoping I’ve strained it from all the coughing I’ve been doing today.

Going to try and sleep it off.

This virus is making such a hypochondriac out of me.

Mintypylonsfryingsurplus · 02/04/2020 21:55

I have been lurking a while on these threads and my heart going out to the painful time you are all experiencing.
I didnt want to join as as it then meant admitting that, yes, it was probable that I too had this also.
Obviously now out of the denial phase, I am finding myself in the bargaining phase - as in if I survive this I dont care being forever poor. (Thinking in my case drama queen is a symptom, but that is because I am so scared)
I went to doctors in beginning of March with very slight fever, dry cough and breathlessness. I was playing badminton and felt very tired and couldn't breath.
Doctor asked if I had been to China or Italy and as I hadnt was told a viral infection and as my oxygen was lowish, told to rest, given steriods for inflammation and sent away.
This all went very quickly about 5 days - I had just moved so was very busy. But having been watching this for weeks unfold, did feel it was going to get very bad.
When I was 37 I had a very bad pneumonia and pleural effusion, was in CCU for 4 weeks, and ended up with M.E until I was 44.
I was due to start a job (in care) but did not take it as I was so scared of getting the virus.
After the initial infection in March, I have felt very tired and just ill. I put it down to anxiety and a M.E relapse brought on my infection.
But about 9 days ago I started getting really bad symptoms again apart from raised temperature (when I had pneumonia before my temp never rose above 37. I have Hashimotos and despite being on T3 (liothyronine) my temperature has been about 35.4 to 36.5
Mouth full of sores
cold sores
totally blocked nose to the point I wake up gasping for a drink
electric shooting pains like being tasered??
excruciating headaches
kidney pains like being kicked in kidneys
sore joints in neck hands back and shoulders
feeling like concrete in my lungs
air hunger and breathlessness again
palpitations and irregular heart beats
waking up gasping for air (Like how I imagine sleep apnea to be?)
fatigue and malaise
never ending period

I wake up feeling ropey, come around midday for a few hours then about 6.30pm start to feel awful again.

It seems to be going on forever, I feel so scared that it not improving and that one day will be a decline and end up in hospital.
My body is obviously trying to fight it but without a temperature it dragging on and on.
Really hoping that you all get some relief and start to get better very soon, I hope that we all get the clarification we need also. X

UncomfortableBadger · 02/04/2020 21:56

Ahhh bugger - had a better day today (day 7/8) but the racing heart and chest pains are back in time for bedtime. Whoop. Commiserations to all fellow sufferers. Rubbish, ‘innit.
