Would you be the first to vaccinate yourself/children against CV when the vaccine is available?

OP posts:

“ It won't be given out until it's properly tested”

I hope so. I just think the attitude suggests they’ll rush it out.

Grumpbum123 · 31/03/2020 13:41

Yep I had the swine flu one whilst pregnant in fact I’ve pretty much had every vaccination going.

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 31/03/2020 13:42

they who is the they?

There is researchers, medical staff, manufacturers of the vaccine and the Government involved. Will they all collude to rush something out?

Also, what attitude suggests that?

LuxLFC · 31/03/2020 13:43

No, especially not if there really is some digital, technological aspect to it. F that!!!

Lweji · 31/03/2020 13:44

I just think the attitude suggests they’ll rush it out.

Not when they say it will take a year or more.
For any vaccine, and with the usual pre-deployment tests, small effects will be missed. It's not a matter of being rushed.
Small effects are only noticed when millions of people have used anything.
The key is that benefits largely outweigh the risk. Even narcolepsy vs death.

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 31/03/2020 13:44

No, especially not if there really is some digital, technological aspect to it. F that!!

Like what? Chips?

Lweji · 31/03/2020 13:45

No, especially not if there really is some digital, technological aspect to it.

What does that even mean?

Do you want to get a live virus? Hmm

LaurieMarlow · 31/03/2020 13:49

I don’t envy those overseeing the testing process. There’ll be huge pressure to get it out.

Kokeshi123 · 31/03/2020 13:52

Yes, happily.

I think a more interesting question is: What about all the die-hard anti-vax people out there? Will they have the vaccine? Refuse it? Try to catch actual COVID19 instead (getting people to send them licked lollipops through the mail etc.)? Be ordered to stay in quarantine?

SmileyClare · 31/03/2020 13:58

Digital technological aspect to it .fuck that!

Oh right, you're referring to the government's plans to insert a microchip into everyone who is vaccinated as part of a dark conspiracy?. Hmm
Honestly step away from social media bullshit posts about vaccines if can and well done for the most inane comment of the day.

LuxLFC · 31/03/2020 13:58

I meant what Bill Gates has been talking about with digital tattoos & digital certificates etc. Before I am labelled crazy research it yourselves. Why are all these tech guys like him & now Mark Zuckerberg interested in vaccines & health tracking? Anyway, that's all I'm going to say because I can imagine the BS that is coming my way! Ta ta!

LuxLFC · 31/03/2020 14:01

As I've said before - if anyone had described the senario we are currently in last December that would be dismissed as wacko too. Bye clare!

AutumnRose1 · 31/03/2020 14:10

Lweji I hope you’re right and they don’t rush it. In which case, sure, I’ll have it.

AutumnRose1 · 31/03/2020 14:10

Lux - I only know “bye Clare” as a a Fleabag reference.

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 31/03/2020 14:11

So they implant something with the vaccine and you cannot log out of Facebook, like ever?

Lweji · 31/03/2020 14:30

Why are all these tech guys like him & now Mark Zuckerberg interested in vaccines

Everybody is interested in vaccines now. Grin

Pulpfiction1 · 31/03/2020 14:34

Even narcolepsy vs death.

But covid19 doesnt mean death for 95% possibly more people.

We also wouldn't need to vax everyone. The vax would just be for the vulnerable like the flu vax. The rest of the pop can rely on their immune systems.

AutumnRose1 · 31/03/2020 14:35

I understood this thread was discussing everyone being vaccinated?

Lweji · 31/03/2020 14:38

For the millionth time

Covid can kill and does kill younger people.
Covid impact is much greater than just death (the above quote was just shorthand)

Many vulnerable people can't be vaccinated.
We don't know our actual individual risk of death, serious complications or disease requiring hospitalization.

littlemeitslyn · 31/03/2020 14:53

No

EmpressSuiko · 31/03/2020 15:03

100% Yes, no doubts about it .

JanewaysBun · 31/03/2020 15:58

Yes, I currently have a friend (29) fighting for her life from Covid, id rather not be in that position

Inappropriatefemale · 31/03/2020 15:59

@Janewaysbun I’m sorry to hear about your friend, did she have health issues or was she perfectly healthy?

feelingverylazytoday · 31/03/2020 16:28

Yes. I really want to be vaccinated ASAP. But it should be offered to more vulnerable groups first.

Luckystar777 · 31/03/2020 16:39

hell no.
