The rise in the hero complex

There has been a certain rise in people claiming they are or thinking they are heroes. "We are saving lives".

That basically involves an avid desire to report anyone that dares to leave the house, police everyone else, dismiss the worries and concerns of others, ridiculing, attacking,bullying and emotionally blackmailing anyone who struggles, some kind of irrational fear/hate of children and gleeful virtue signaling about how much better they are at staying home. Abusing key workers that in their eyes are not doing their job,for doing their job, following guidelines(made up or official) ,not following guidelines,in the wrong clothes etc.

There are people who are seriously struggling right now, emotionally,financially,mentally,physically etc. People that are becoming more and more vulnerable as more restrictions and public policing come in. People that have killed themselves due to the situation we are in.

They are not heroes,they are not saving lives.

GrumpyMug2 apologies not needed! I guessed that's what it was.

Thanks you. She is lovely. little shit, but cute!

Thepigeonsarecoming we had some salted caramel hot cross buns, thanks to your other thread.....be proud...not guilty for leading the way!

@Willow2017 thank you. Blush

Shitsgettingcrazy · 04/04/2020 20:43

I wear make up to go out and work but at home lately i havent even bothered doing my eyebrows! I wear joggers and tshirts no effort required and am loving it

Me too! I have lived in pjs and joggers for 2 weeks. Put my Jean's on to go shopping. My Jean's are all getting too big as weight is dropping off me.

Desperately need some new pjs and Jean's on my next food shop

GrumpyMug2 · 04/04/2020 20:44

What's the max posts for a thread? We need to come up with a new thread name

longearedbat · 04/04/2020 21:01

@Shitsgettingcrazy how are you losing weight? I am eating and drinking more than normal. I am envious!

SmileyClare · 04/04/2020 21:02

Hmm it's difficult. What about "We're all heroes of the lockdown here" ? Actually no scrap that. Nauseating thread title Grin

I've been going for a relaxed slobby style of late. It does cheer me up to make an effort sometimes for no reason whatsoever though. Weight's dropping off me too! Must be the stress of everything. Note to self: eat more Easter eggs.

SmileyClare · 04/04/2020 21:04

Don't be envious, it's just making me look a bit haggard. Sad

Grin leg hair quandary.
-Are those fleece lined leggings you're wearing? They look nice and warm.
-No I've grown my own insulating layer in the form of leg hair.

Willow2017 · 04/04/2020 21:10

Pillows! Pillows!!! How bloody selfish havent you donated them all to 'a worthy cause' and are now sleeping on sacks stuffed with straw?

@GrumpyMug2 I think it's a thousand.

@longearedbat a mixture of things
Turns out I must eat more at work and not really think about it. Buffet lunches at meetings etc. Its been a stressful few weeks so not always felt like eating. But also, I can eat to my own schedule now. Not around my commute. Also sleeping later on a morning (I used to get up at 5am now its 7am) so not hungry til 11. Still having luxuries. But eating a lot less overall.

Willow2017 · 04/04/2020 21:21

Pringles have no calories right?

In my defence this is the 3rd day and just finishing them now i am more than impressed with myself🤣

Yes Pringles are mainly air I think. If Pringles are helping, then eat Pringles!

I'm sceptical about people that are using this time for self improvement; getting themselves in peak fitness, learning the clarinet, becoming fluent in the ancient language of Gangte and such like.

I'm just setting a target of getting up every day.

PrincessConsueIaBananaHammock · 04/04/2020 21:35

cats, flaps and the clap will be the name of the new thread, courtesy of pigeon. It's up to voting whether it stays in the corona area or not.

Sorry I've been off, been having a bit of a wobble.

Pringles are made of potatoes therefore are a vegetable and a health food. Everyone knows eating crisps helps you lose weight! I use the same logic for raspberry ice cream (fruit + calcium = healthy)

Oy, I've done loads if training thank you very much and I have the proof for it. OFC, that's because it was a requirement of working from home, but we'll ignore that.Grin

Sorry I've been off, been having a bit of a wobble.

You ok?

Willow2017 · 04/04/2020 21:46

Phew thats a relief!

I'm just setting a target of getting up every day.
Me too when i am not working its getting harder! Must go to bed on same day as i get up!

Willow2017 · 04/04/2020 21:48

Whats up Princess?

SmileyClare · 04/04/2020 21:54

Wobbles are normal. Flowers Sometimes the enormity of all this takes my breath away. I think we're all having moments. Distract yourself with anything if you can.

SmileyClare · 04/04/2020 21:55

Ok who ate all the Pringles?

isabellerossignol · 04/04/2020 22:05

I definitely didn't eat the Pringles because I don't like them.

I might have eaten all the Dairy Milk with Oreos though...
